I love the opera -- it is one of my faves and probably IMHO the greatest opera ever written, possibly the greatest work of art. however I have never enjoyed this aria. It is vital to the drama, but the music itself has never moved me UNTIL i heard this recording. Bravo Dimitri! I agree with the comment below that Hvorostovsky may one day be regarded as one of the greatest operatic voices of the 21st century!

Giuseppe Verdi: Otello Iago's aria Credo in un dio crudel Moscow, December 16, 2008 la risata è in effetti un po' oscena riguardo alle risate a cui ci hanno abituati i cantanti che abbiamo sentito eseguire questo brano. Dmitri invece sente quella risata giusta. però in questo concerto eravamo solo nel 2008 sono certa che rivedrà questa risata e che essa sarà giustamente ridimensionata tuttavia bisogna considerare invece che ha saputo mettere il freno a una orchestra e quindi al suo conduttore che pareva non avessero idea che stavano volando a gambe levate , le assicuro una cosa : non è facile per un cantante imporre il proprio tempo ad una orchestra che corre a dismisura.
Non si mette in discussione la padronanza tecnica del cantante, né la sua personalità. Ma questa risata, oltre ad essere proprio di cattivo gusto, non aggiunge nulla a quanto il compositore ha perfettamente espresso musicalmente e drammaturgicamente con la sua composizione. Ancor più considerando appunto che l'incisione risale agli anni 90 e non agli anni 50, epoca in cui certi cachinni erano ammessi.
