BAAN CHAWENG Beach Resort and Spa Review - Chaweng Beach Hotels in Koh Samui

- *Update: Koh Samui Hotels and Resorts. Hotels and Resorts on the beach at Chaweng Beach. We are at the Baan Chaeng Beach Resort and Spa located right on the famous Chaweng Beach on the Island of Koh Samui in Thailand. This hotel is located on a quite side Road to the main Chaweng Beach Road which winds it´s way through the main city area of Chaweng Beach. This is a 3 Star Beach Resort and our choice of Hotel / Resort to stay at when visiting the island of Ko Samui because of the excellent Beach that lies right in front of it. We used to stay at the more upmarket Chaweng Regent Hotel which we can also highly recommend, but changed to the Baan Chaweng Hotel because of its location.
*Update (2023): This hotel has undergone some renovations since this video was filmed back in 2019. One such renovation has been made to the breakfast sitting area which means that the area no longer looks the same as the breakfast area we experienced.
Tip: Before booking a hotel, always check Tripadvisor for reviews and up-to-date photos of hotels uploaded by fellow travelers.
The Baan Chaweng Beach Resort and Spa is a 3-Star Hotel / Resort with 92 Rooms available. Room types include 4 Beach Front Suites, 11 Grand Deluxe Villas, 21 Deluxe Villas, 12 Superior Villas, 6 Deluxe Rooms and 38 Superior Rooms. The hotel is centrally located in Chaweng Beach with plenty of restaurants, bars and pubs in an easy walking distance. Chaweng Beach has it´s own shopping mall complete with cinema called the Central Festival Shopping Center and is a short 5 minute walk from the hotel. Koh Samui Airport or Samui Airport is located 15 minutes from the resort and Nathon Town is locate 30 minutes from the hotel. Facilities at this hotel, apart from the amazing Chaweng Beach just in front of the hotel, include:
- The Rachavadee Spa, "a sanctuary of serenity and natural beauty for those seeking to relax and restore body and mind..."
- The Leelavadee Restaurant located on the beachfront, "Serves you with Thai traditional cuisine and fresh seafood cuisine. Ideal place for romantic dinners. Show and entertainment are available here..."
- Swimming Pool
When we stay at the Baan Chaweng Beach Resort we always stay in a Deluxe Villa. This may not be a 4 or 5 Star Luxury Resort but we can highly recommend a stay here to fellow travellers!

A very early viewing this time as happens to be chilling tonight with youtube actually on when this notification came in . Why a beautiful hotel and food looked heaven . Nice to see proper meal time sittings for once and not rush . Up to 5 pm for lunch and 11pm for dinner that’s great . Nice to sit by the beach for breakfast. Wonderful place 👍 weekend soon here
Goodmorning Kieron, hope you are well on this almost weekend morning!! :-D Foggy here in Copenhagen but still a warm 6 Degrees. This hotel is fantastic, we have stayed here about 4 times and just love the location, the gardens, the staff, the beach and the food. We used to stay at a 4 Star Hotel further up the beach but changed to the Baan Chaweng because the beach is better here, we have never regretted that! There is nothing better than an early breakfast at this hotel while watching the sea! If you and Mags ever decided to give Thailand a chance we can highly recommend this hotel!! That looks familiar, I just returned from Baan Chaweng Beach Resort and Spa a couple of days ago thanks to a previous trip report you did. I was in one of the rooms above the Rachavadee Spa. It is exactly as you have shown it and the sea breeze whilst having breakfast at the Leelavadee restaurant or sitting on one of the loungers is just amazing! The staff are very polite and helpful! I will return... :-)

I have stayed in quite a few resorts in Chaweng… Baan Chawengs beach location is away from the JetSki menace and the breakfast is exceptional.

Maxi, although I had breakfast at the Leelavadee restaurant every morning I did not have lunch or dinner there. Do they do lunch and dinner buffets there too or are they just set meals from the menu? I do not recognize some of the meal options you showed at the restaurant like the cooked vegetables, noodles, rice dishes, etc... so I am wondering if they were the lunch or dinner buffet options. They did have some limited veg/salad options for breakfast but I do not remember those ones.
Hi there Maria M, thanks for watching and commenting! Regarding your questions, lunch and dinner where from an à la carte Menu. Every morning there are 2-3 new hot dishes with the breakfast. We filmed these hot dishes every day, so what you see in the video is the variety of hot dishes that were part of the breakfast buffet (not all at once). Hope that answers your question. Great video.enjoyed a lot. I too enjoyed beachside breakfast plus some airplane spotting from that spot or the chaweng beach and yes the Koh Samui video playlist was quite helpful for the trip.Have a good rest of your week.
