That mayor was such a chad. He knows he can't win, so he goes scorched earth on the coven. If he can't win, he's taking the entire coven down with him. Man wasn't throwing; he was getting even. He knows the final person is a Doomsayer, he knows the Doomsayer can destroy the coven. So he hands the win to the last neutral evil, knowing they'll destroy the coven for him. The mad man.
It would actually be the best move in a hypothetical ranked scenario as well! Since (I'm pretty sure) a draw wouldn't make the town members lose elo because it's, well a draw, not a "town loses" (even though everyone's dead)
Its also the objective best move as it is the only move he can do that doesn't lose him the game!
As draw's aren't loses after all.
You know, I've always thought that if you were to convert a town of salem game into story format/plot, it would become a really interesting story generating machine. Endless different outcomes, endless amount of plot twists, would be crazy and I could imagine it being made into a story even if it's short, like based off of a single game or several games.

The mayor has to give the doomsayer the win there, not because he wants to give it to him, but because coven was being so smug and thought nothing could go wrong anymore.
also because when you can't win, your goal is to force a draw.

If you can't win normally, you go out in your own terms. Any person who considers that a throw is blatantly missing the rules of the game. No one to betray or throw, he chose who gets the win among the two parties who could, as last town.

it wasn't a kingmaker, since not voting coven would result in a town loss; which is a gamethrow for town since voting a coven member ends it in a draw.

Being the last town in an unwinnable game is not the kingmaker problem they were trying to solve. Its those pesky NE or NB that already won.
Not gonna lie, I really respect pipe for reading what the chat says. I am someone with almost no vision, who cannot read at all, so having this is really nice. Also, explaining what he does, and explaining what other players say/do in the game is actually super helpful for me to understand what’s happening in the game. Thank you Pipe
I love it when people do this, bc for me sometimes I’m playing a game and having a video js run alongside and it’s helpful for me too to have someone read it out, and also means when I’m watching on my phone (pre zoomed in chat days) I didn’t have to squint and figure out everything that was being said. There are apps that translate spoken words into text and keyboards that allow for typing blind. Auto-correct for the rest.... It's really not that hard, just different.

I agree with Doom getting lucky tho. They are lucky they didn't get lynched after sheriff found them sus, and they were lucky that the only other non-coven remaining was the Mayor or Prosecutor.

there's no point lynching the doomsayer, bro doesnt care who lives or dies, if he decides 'screw the coven', he can make the town win, or he can side with the coven, meaning they want to keep him around. or he can just be true neutral and just kill another neutral, a coven or a townie.

This game is iconic LMAO
It's *way too easy* to win as Doomsayer, since there is absolutely no punishment for guessing wrong. You can just keep brute-forcing until you get it right. You also have defense, so there isn't even a sense of urgency - you won't be getting killed early. They absolutely need to add some sort of mechanic where if you guess incorrectly 3 times the Old Ones get furious and kill you, OR make it so that one of the 3 targets *needs* to be evil so it isn't always 3 townies getting screwed, OR you make it so Doomsayer can't target "revealed" roles like Mayor, Pros etc.
the problem is that sometimes it just becomes impossible for doomsayer to win.

@@Kris_2137 That's basically every doomsayer win. You get 1-2 Town Power/TK that confirm themselves and then guess the 3rd one for someone that seems legit until you get it right. The devs can always just delete that achievement if they were to rework the class, not a hard achievement to get anyway.

Theres something so satisfying about these last second doomsayer wins. I had one earlier with a mayor, tavernkeeper, a coven, and a coroner that had dced. I managed to talk them into not voting, saying the tav should rb the coven so we could see if the DC was the evil. I had already figured out who was who by then lmao.
I had one doomsayer game where i practically nuked the last 3 neutral killing roles. It was a 2v1v1v1v1, and since WW decided to attack me, their attack failed and one townie survived, leading to town win

I think the best way to balance Doomsayer is to make it so if you guess 1 wrong you have to wait one night to guess again, 2 for 2 and 2 for 3 to punish not knowing

I wonder if mayor would of gave doom the win if coven didn't gloat, still at the very least not gloating would of make it hard for the mayor to give doom the win if mayor didn't know there was doom

I was Jack this game. I knew that Pipe(15) was evil, just didn't know what he was. I was roleblocking him so he couldn't attack either of us and i was faking Tavern Keeper so look legit. I tried to get the trust of 14 to lynch 15, but at the end it backfired lol.
Jack, you forgot the most important rule as a role blocking role.

To be fair, you could have been new but 2 (Medusa) was a very grim person. They gloated too early.

He’s used it in one of his videos, but decided he preferred his current method
He tested it before they added to functionality to remove the dead fr9m the automated notes, so its likely alittle more bareable by now, but ,ultiple of his points still stand as far as i can tell for why he didnt like it back then.

How are they suppose to work out what role a coven is? Because of the change to book kills in ToS 2, it's almost impossible to guess who the killing coven role is unless they kill a player with defence

Due to how they changed coven kills to only say a coven killed and not which specific role, it makes sense.
Yes, because it’s easier to differentiate between town roles (they’re usually honest with who they are), and coven (who will never say in day chat which specific role they are)

Vaguely reminds me of the time where I was playing the among us mod based off of this and the final three were an imposter, a survivor, and a vigilante.
Rather then killing people outright, the vigilante is instead a crew member role capable of guessing neutrals and imposters, and that’s who I was.
Since the survivor wins with anyone* they more often then not side with killers as they could be guessed out by any of them if they try and side with crewmates and have outed their role.
Anywho, I didn’t have any idea which role the killer had so I said "So this is the part where i lose? Well im taking you with me!" And I proceeded to guessed the survivor out
* Survivors don’t win with lovers or neutral evils (Jester, Exe, Doom, etc.) if you have the setting enabled where the game ends if a neutral evil wins

I was Jack and that is what i did. We didn't know 15 his role, but did know he was evil for sure. I tried to get 14 his trust but the other cocky coven just ruined it.
To be fair, really low chance 14 was mayor. I am unsure though if coven could win. Does game auto end if its only Coven and Doomsayer? Because this mayor would have blocked the vote against the coven in a stalemate.
