gohan is fairly simple because… gohan in japanese literally just means “meal” or, it can also refer to a plain bowl of rice which is a base for many foods. this is why your google result didnt just show “gohan” it showed “tamago kake gohan” which directly translates to “egg break rice”… a broken egg over rice, which is what was pictured. this is why i think that in the world of kenshi, “gohan” is probably just a mix of whatever ingredients you may be able to find at the time + a rice base.
Gohan is also nobleman's food, because rice and vegetables don't grow in the great desert, and have to be imported which increases the price. Most people there survive off cactus.
In Vietnamese, it's pretty much the same thing. Cơm means cooked rice - usually white rice - but it's often extended to mean literally a whole meal as well. @mrwilkumen You don't need a rice cooker. If you properly portion your water and rice, then you can do it in a pot on the stove. The ratio depends on the rice, but it's typically two parts water to one part rice. You can also usually just measure to the first knuckle of your finger. Then you want to bring the water to a boil, then drop it to a simmer, put the lid on, and let it ride like that for about 17 minutes. Take it off the heat once the water is absorbed. You can serve it immediately, or you can let it sit for another 10 minutes to let it steam and get fluffier.

oh no my friend.. as a brazilian who eats rice every day.. tip: put the water roughtly just 1 finger (horizontal) above the rice.. you dont need that much water.. let the water dry.. if the rice still tough put little more water, if not, rice is ready, not rice soup : p
I love Kenshi. I am looking forward to the "prequal" since from what I understand is supposed to take place before the scorched world.
I could've sworn this would have been a cooking channel based on this video. It feels so natural. I hope you make more cooking videos because this was thoroughly entertaining.
This was not something I should’ve watched while eating. But the results of the food cube was a surprise! Hope there wasn’t severe aftermath from eating all this 🤣
This man really made a food cube for our enjoyment
You don’t need to remove water out of rice. As long as you know the portion of water and rice and keep a lid on you could cook the rice without wasting the water. If he cooked the rice that way in Kenshin world he would never want to cook rice to waste water.
I'm honestly baffled no one else mentioned this. After seeing him make rice like that I felt part of my soul die.
Thank you!
The portion is, 2 cups of water to a cup of Rice, boil until water evaporates, done
Watching him cook rice like that caused me physically fucking pain, who _drains_ rice??????? The packages have instructions on them if you're confused! Steam it or boil it, the waters gonna get absorbed!
As long as the end result is cooked rice who cares
Quina's song playing during the creation of the dustwich is perfect. If only eating one could teach me Thousand Needles, I might actually try it.
Your method for cooking rice was not just incorrect, but offensive.
That rice cooking... just make me scream inside.
Bro the rice part would get uncle roger alarm. Just put the water slightly above the rice by 1 notch of your finger joint.
glad someone thought and did a "i have to try that for myself." a cool nutritious way to immerse yourself. although the plain rice and vegetables would also drive me insane in about 6 days. just accidentally knock them into each other and add an egg haha.
nice video Paganacho. you've inspired me to try the same dishes once in a while. the food cube and meat wrap together sounds actually really nice with some grog to wash it down.
Glad to see more from you. Hope your doing well and keep it up mr van damme is counting on you
Thanks, you too!
Never played Kenshi but this poped on my feed and the curiosity won honestly pretty neat video!
OMG this video is awesome. Legit made me LOL more than a few times! 😂😂
I am impressed by the foodcube, and WILL make that meatwrap for myself.
Greatly appreciate your videos! 😊
Glad you enjoyed it!
I’m happy the cube turned out so well. Nice work!
Never really thought of nopales being pickled before; but yeah it does grow in the US, around the southwest region. Definitely better if it you can get it fresher - but pickled is probably the best you can do outside the Americas
Never did I think a food cube was gonna be THAT good!
you forgot the sand on the dustwich i add all the flavor and texture
For the Gohan, you should put the raw egg on the rice immediately after the rice is done cooking when it's still super hot. The heat from the rice should cook the raw egg just enough and then you mix it in to the rice.
"this is one of the best things I ever ate" bro what do you eat usually 😭
The way you cooked rice hurt me...but other then that, cool way to find this channel with Kenshi being one of my favorite games.
0/10 you didn't move around in your kitchen like a Kenshin character
its actually immersive cause the game has some bugs
I might just have to try making food cubes sometime. I got flour, salt, ground beef, carrots, celery, tomato paste, onions, and garlic. Might mix em together and see what happens in a loaf.
Oh goddamn it paganacho over here cooking rice like its pasta.
😅
3:13 THIS IS FOR GOHANNNN
Man’s had me crying when he didn’t wash the rice
Despite how its people act Germany is an industrially developed nation and not a Kenshi-style wasteland so you can buy food that doesn't need washing
@@Graknorkespoken like someone who doesn’t know how to prepare rice. you always wash your rice, always.
@@TheRobotsWillEatYou
You literally don't need to. It makes sense if you bought it from an open market where you get stones and stuff mixed in but again, this is rice out of a sealed bag prepared in a clean factory, it doesn't need washing.
@@Graknorke people wash rice not because of stones or debris LOL, it's to wash away excess starch so that the rice is fluffy, doesn't clump up and is tastier. like i said, you have no clue about preparing nor eating good rice.
@@TheRobotsWillEatYouthat is a very strange way to try and flex. Washing starch off rice isn't an absolute necessity. But you sure are getting upset over it.
You gotta love the descriptions for all the different foods in Kenshi miserable food for a miserable world 🤣
Great vid btw 👍
You eating and going gaga over how well the Foodcube came out with the awesome and deeply melancholic Kenshi theme playing in the background brought a smile to my face and almost made up for you cooking the rice like pasta.
Subbed, heh
Mans rice soggy as hell
And that AoM music at the beginning in the background. I love these details.

THE WAY YOU COOK RICE IS A CRIME AGAINST HUMANITY
That's the highest-quality content i've seen for very long... love u bruh
Omfg YUMM!! SUCH A GOOD VID!!🍛💛✨
Glad you liked it!!
Heck yes for the food cube! Good to see the meatwrap was a winner too. Always feels good to give my people burritos.
Mexican here, this video is hilarious. Holy mamacita!
“get rid of the excess water” this dude ain’t never made rice before.
It honestly hurt to watch
Well in Europe we mainly use rice in those little plastic bags, rice cookers are not very popular here
@mrwilkumen You don't need a rice cooker.
People who probably order out everyday try not to nitpick everything about a cooking video (impossible)
@epiccoolawesomegoblinguyre6520 I live over half an hour from the nearest town. Ordering out isn't even an option for me. I exclusively cook for myself with exception to maybe once or twice a month when I make a run into town for groceries.
8:20 how to do very cheap (but still tasty) burek 😂
Compared to what german ppl eat, i bet it was a great experience!
Prisons invented nutraloaf as a form of culinary torture. A german man adds a splash of beer and LOVES it.
