    A nice one

    I heart Amps. And pirate flying. Amps are tail heavy when PNP, they need ballast, esp with your little prop. Well done! And to think I thought 5s on the PNP Ro-Power was pushing it... granted on 12x10. Not 162 mph :-), more like 80. Vertical :-). Launches must be 'interesting' on 7x6! I have a number of carbon hotliners, and the Amp (and Limit Pro) hold their own. Stiff, strong enough, and agile. The added weight does not hurt with wind. 3.5 kW on the stock motor? I was getting nervous at 1KW (5s, 12x10). I would be interested in hearing how she holds up. If you're bored my channel has a bunch of Amp flight videos and a bunch of other planes, but I am more into aerobatic flight than speed (no judging, different strokes for different folks).

      The motor has taken the 3.5kw very happily, however I enjoy flying it most on 6s with the stock 12x8 prop. That gives great speed and amazing vertical performance. The bit that has let me down the most (although still great!) Is the airframe, I've had the motor pull out the front of the fuselage multiple times now, and the most recent time it broke quite a lot on the way out, and the motor was lost.
      I'm definitely wanting to get it fixed though, and probably buy another one!

      @@lukeattubato Hi Luke, if you are pushing it that hard you are better off getting an Aluminum motor mount, and whatever (ideally geared) motor fits it. Neu 111X (e.g. 1110, 1115, etc) or better yet 15xx (1509, 1512, etc) would be great choices. They also easily deliver honest high kW (no offense but I have my doubts regarding the stock motor seeing 3+ kW very often and surviving, given you know, physics and all... my hunch is those windings are quite blackened and short circuit or tossed magnet is only a matter of time). The Al mounts are intended for higher power applications and have much more surface area for bonding, and regularly take 10+ kW. If you fully pull out the stock mount and the motor flies off on it's own your airframe will be terminally tailheavy... no recovering from that. Don't ask how I know.

      @@hotliner2872 that was exactly what happened, I completely pulled out the motor and the mount, but I just about managed to land it without any other damage, it wasn't my prettiest landing though🤣
      Yeah, I'll have to get a proper motor and gearbox at some point, but in the meantime it's fun playing around with this stuff!

      @@lukeattubato if you fully lost your motor the spirits were on your side that day, because physics wasn't. It is quite literally physically impossible to control a plane that tail heavy, as the tail has nothing to push off of (the main wing pushes up and tail pushes down when properly balanced... if both 'push up' there is literally zero means of control, it is an uncontrollable state, elevator wise, and most typically ends up in some type of spin). That said, you still have El movement if not control, as well as Ails/Flaps movement, and it sounds like it was possible to get it to crash as gently as possible! This is where the luck came in :-), if that ever happened twice you should start going to church. It is fun tho! Just stay flying in the boonies, you don't want her coming down anywhere important.

    Hey mate is everything stock on this? It sounds like you upgraded the ESC but is everything else stock in the PNP except you are flying 12s? Like did you update the motor or anything?

    Hi, considering this model would you recommend? Looking at the Robbe limit pro, but doesn’t have flaps - how essential are these ?

    • @lukeattubato
      @lukeattubato  7 месяцев назад

      I'm considering getting a limit pro, so I hear they are a little more slippery. The flaps are great, but not necessary if you have lots of space, or are good at getting into tight spaces

      How do you find it handles the extra power? I'm already a little worried about this setup!
      I haven't got it setup with crow, I've instead got full span flaps, with the flaps going down to their max extent and the ailerons going down to about 20*. It certinaly allows it to slow down pretty well, but it intruduces a lot of adverse yaw that you need to watch out for.

      @@lukeattubato From what i got told this Airframe will handle 4 4.5kw max due to strength. On the setup i have its about 4.5kw
      Short bursts only as anymore and you cant see it 😂. Advised not to do full snap flap turns on power. Still getting used to flying it.
