Read up on this car and you will find that the only thing it 'shares' with the R8 is an enlarged version of it's engine. This car has a bespoke gearbox, chassis and bodywork (obviously). These components have nothing in common with the R8. I really can't fathom as to why people think, because the engines are similar, that the Bentley is just a clone of that car.
Cooking Most likely because the original 2001 car did use the exact same engine (the modified version is in this 2003 car) and the bodywork looks a little like the R8C.
Azenturi Plenty of racing cars share engines, so going by this logic, the Jaguar XJR-14 is a clone of a Benetton B189. Hell, any F1 car that used a Cosworth DFV would be a clone of a Lotus 49. But we don't say these things about those cars. It seems that only this particular car is called out as being a clone despite plenty of evidence to the contrary, and the only truly common component between the programmes being the shared engine in the EXP 8 as you said. That's why I raise my eyebrow whenever someone calls this Bentley a clone. With that said, I would expect the Speed 8 to look like the R8C considering that the same company and designer developed both cars.
