- A choreography inspired by a phenomenon that the United Nations described as "an environmental and social emergency" for the planet The Atacama Desert, found in northern Chile, has today become one of the fastest-growing dumping grounds for discarded clothing in the world, thanks to the rapid mass production of stylish and inexpensive clothing known as fast fashion. Millions of tons of unsold and unwanted clothing arrive from Europe, Asia, and the United States. Last year's account was 44 million tons, according to Chilean customs statistics. This work is an invitation to reflect on our consumption habits, to find the root of this feeling of ‘necessity’ of acquiring more and more clothes, and to ask ourselves: Where are we going to end at this pace?
*The piece was created almost entirely, with repurposed, used, and donated materials. All pieces of clothing will be donated after the performance to a school's recycling bin as part of a program that helps them raise money.
