I’ve always found it strange that it’s illegal to assault big, strong, able bodied, adults while it’s legal to assault the youngest, smallest & weakest members of our society. I remember a few years ago, seeing a video of a mother beating her daughter with a machete and ppl were commenting about how the daughter must have really been stressing out the mother.
Thank you, thank you, thank you, and if this law is passed, there need to be policies put in place to teach parents how to discipline children without violence. Parents, teachers and the church teach children that violence is acceptable and then wonder why there is so much violence in the country. YES,some people will ignore the law but at least the children would have some recourse.
You are right about everything you are saying. But let's be honest, the Christian church is a holdover from slavery. The brutality Black parents show their children is to condition them for when the master gives the lash from the whip they don't see themselves as oppressed humans. Instead, the slave sees itself as a wayward ward. My mom beat me mercilessly as a child. I grew to have nothing but disdain for my mom. She had hands and mouth when I was young but no help when school and tuition were due. There is a reason why when children get older they get colder to their parents and stop respecting and listening. Parents many times in the Black community are nothing more than the disciplinaries rather than guardians.
🇯🇲🇯🇲 Slavery was once lawful as well, but even the practitioners knew how morally repugnant that was. Most of us fossils grew up with corporal punishment/beatings and know how trivial such abuse and violence were by “love ones” with lawful tools of punishment on us children at homes, schools or in our neighborhoods. I instinctively knew as a very young child that this felonious assault on our personhood was undoubtedly wrong. I must admit I was spared a lot of those “don’t spare the rod” by being a “good behaving child”. Not surprisingly the CHURCH has decidedly opted to hold on to one of the biblical principles of inflecting pain and trauma on children as corrective disciplining. I dare say, though I think they’re wrong, if they abandon this tenet (don’t spare the rod and spoil the child) they might as well discard all the other pillars of Christiandom. Back to reality all yea blinded or jaded by religious dogmas, there are daily realities that are at conflict because mankind is conflicted and so religious books were written by so-called men “inspired by God “ but they too have their earthly agendas; therein lies the Catholics, Pentecostals, Anglicans, Coptics.
The developmental harm to children caused by corporal punishment is well documented. It's refreshing to hear a Caribbean voice condemn this harmful and outdated practice and defend the rights of children. Yes, children have rights!
Still in the slave mentality of beating to control the slaves and they don’t see anything wrong with it.SMH Think about it your an adult being a child thats very strange.
My understanding is that teachers also hit children. That needs to stop hitting does not teach a child to learn it only teaches the child to be afraid. End the ignorance stop hitting in the name of teaching no matter if it is at home or in the school.
There have been cases where parents over does it at times and it is sad. But might i asked what deterrent would you use to curve a child who decides to miss behave or be disobedient. What could you do that would have that child saying you know im not gonna do this because x is gonna happen,
What deterrent do you use with adults? Do you resort to violence when an adult does something you don't like? Oftentimes children are punished for engaging in age appropriate behavior. I encourage you to research conscious parenting. RUclips has lots of videos about it. Particularly by Black content creators.
I just want to know what the measures are ? You mention when an adult does something that i dont like if we would "beat"that person, i dont believe that we can compare the 2 ... Adults are responsible for themselves. Parents are responsible for the upbringing and nurturing of a child ensuring they become proper productive people in society. Again what are these measures that will replace a beating . Will they be effective for each "person"
@@baziljames9495 You're absolutely right. We can't compare an adult with a fully developed brain to a child. We should offer the child much more leeway taking into account their particular level of development. So if you wouldn't beat an adult who has upset you, you most certainly shouldn't beat a child. As for measures, Google conscious parenting. There's tons of information. I especially recommend the content by Black creators for its cultural competency.
The scripture says spare the rod and spoil the child , abuse is extreme and discipline is to be taught how to be safely done for children, police also beat or Lash adults,Christ was scourged too. Abuse is punished by law too when it is incorrectly done.
@@wdolce I was flogged or caned in school and at home, I am very successful in life,. I can think of 4 different meanings for the word rod,in English, depending on the context, maybe some benefited from discipline in schools. See Proverbs 22v15 in King James Edition of the Bible. Proverbs 22v15 ,,, if thou beatest, him with the rod , he shall not die. PS the Bible addresses abuse, murder, beating, people to death etc.and the punishments.
@@wdolce Jesus Christ of Nazareth the great shepherd was also flogged for our transgressions, and we are not greater than Christ of Nazareth, and He told us what they did to Him,they were going to do to us,as we are not greater than our Master. The Church is about preserving the family. Opposing a law not properly scripted can also be dangerous.
Protect The Children!!!!!

My parents spank me as a child. As a result, I now suffer from a psychological condition know as "RESPECT FOR OTHERS".

Firstly, you are misquoting the Bible. Secondly, a rod is used by a shepard to guide his sheep NOT to beat them.
