This was an orphaned baby who didn't know how to swim and would have died otherwise! The house is a perfectly acceptable environment as he grows enough to be released to the outdoors. Without her intervention he wouldn't exist.

I really doubt he han survive in the wild even if he has the instinct to build dams. I feel sad for him that he doesn't have any other beaver friends to be with though. Maybe there is a sanctuary or zoo with beavers where she could send him.

I don’t think he’s in the wild but in an outdoor habitat? I hope he’s fine and still gets visits from his human momma. I know these animals need to be back in their environment but I’m sure the separation anxiety really gets to them. Abandoned twice by their real families and then human families. Poor guys.
@@thestormlscoming When beavers are released into the wild, they can't be visites by humains anymore. They are really territorial and will become hostile to any trespassers. But I think that JB is really happy with his New beaver family don't worry!!

@@stipcrane This is why I just don't rescue things anymore. I worked at a pet store for many years and fell in love with tons of animals. I'm honestly just over having them around and cleaning up after them. I'm too neat and clean to enjoy it anymore. When you work really hard to have a beautiful home, it's just too much damage to be worth it. I don't know how this lady is ok with the damage caused to the home.

Michael McDonald she is selfish because the beaver doesn’t belong in the house. Whatever the reason for her taking him in is clearly not needed anymore. She wants people to help her fund a pond so she can keep him when what she sound be doing is letting him go. A pond isn’t going to do anything for him since he needs a river system not a stagnant pond.
marcus larwa she runs a rescue, some young animals aren’t yet able to fend for themselves so they need a “parent” lots of rescues do this with young animals- give them a foster home until they are ready to go to the actual center and have an outdoor enclosure. She said he’s ABOUT ready. They may not have the enclosure built as this is her first beaver rescue. Did you skip over the parts you didn’t find something wrong with or something- rewatch the clip.
Just because he’s tearing up the place doesn’t mean he’s ready- he’s doing what beavers do by instinct regardless of their environment. Plus he’s a rescue he can’t be released into the wilds he needs a proper enriching environment and often times if all the enclosures are taken or filled or a new different animal than what they already have (therefore can’t put 2 different animals together sometimes) they have to build a new one altogether specifically for that type of animal.

That being said a river is very hard for mankind to build , so maybe a pond is the best they can do.

Fun fact: he specially focuses on damming up her bathtub and dishwasher because beavers instinctively hate the sound of running water - it means their dam is leaking somewhere.
I love how they really look busy when they do it. It always reminds me of my grandma for some reason... Or any older ladies in my fam... At family meals... Straightening rugs. Clearing dishes... Bringing more food. Starting dishes. Putting left overs away, wiping up spills" scooping up toddlers, starting some coffee... Just non-stop. Busy and happy because everyone is gathered and full and it's because they nailed Thanksgiving or Christmas... Just in the zoooone.

@@Un1234l It is true. They did a scientific study where they put speaker boxes in beaver habitats and tested their reactions to a variety of sounds. The sound of running water invariably made them excited and irritated, visibly eager to do something about the noise, to the point where they built a dam directly OVER the speakerbox until they couldn't hear the sound of running water anymore. When the scientists raised the volume, the beavers put another layer of earth and sticks on top. This is similar to their behavior when you break their dam; they just immediately start repairing it. Evolution managed to hard-code "If water's rushing, something needs fixed" into their DNA.
We have a beaver that lives in our backyard. She really likes to scamper up and down the slope of the yard.

Back in 1971 I raised a baby beaver while I was a Naturalist with the Canadian Wildlife Service. It had been orphaned in Georgian Bay National Park. Three hour feeding intervals, and eventually I could take him swimming, both in a small lake, and in open Georgian Bay. He loved playing in the waves.

As a young man I had the privilege to observe a family of beaver for an hour or so on the creek that ran through our farm. I carry the impressions to this day of what loving and caring parents they seemed to be.
I would love to see him in his new pond being a beaver, doing beaver things.

Hamsters aren’t cheap pets either though, they are prone to airway infections and the vet is not cheap. They need large enclosures and that adds up.
the US must be cheap, here that damage would be 1000 at least, but then again we generally make things ourselves due to the high taxes and high labour cost
I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but it was about 5-6 grand worth of damage there Ma.....
On the bright side, you don’t need flood insurance.

Beavers are wonderful animals. They have beautiful family structures and are excellent landscapers that improve the area they build a dam and lodge in. They support a big ecosystem. Love them so much!

But still, it's not the animals' fault. They didn't ask to get captured and flown to some strange place far away from home. They're just trying to live on, and even if you need to eradicate them, it shouldn't be done with cruelty. They're still living beings.

That has to be one of the neatest rescue stories I've seen. Last summer I rescued a baby skunk. Illegal in our state but she was weak and baking on our drive way I took her to a wildlife rescue. Little stinky is now free like she was meant to be❤✌
