Great video. You guys chose some very challenging trails. Black Bear Pass looks terrifying in places, as well as the other one on the side of the cliff. Yikes! Would like to know how the bikes fared -- pros and cons on reliability, gear selection, etc. And those storm clouds were quite ominous looking.
All the bikes fared really well, except for the DR350 in some places. It had a habit of overheating in the slower stuff, so we just had to be patient with it. The experienced pilot definitely helped. The DR-Z only had a flooding issue with the carburetor. Once that was fixed it was rock solid. The 525 ran pretty hot most of the time, but they have a tendency to do that. The extra power on that monster and phenomenal suspension really helped in the tough stuff!
It had a fan but that was it. It was 110 degrees in the low desert so it definitely wasn't happy there. It was jetted for altitude so there was nothing more I could do. It never overheated, but the fan was on constantly just doing its job
Hi! what an awesome trip, congratulations! I am thinking about buying a DR 350 for starting on trail as I have a low budget. What's your opinion about that bike? It is powerfull enought for that kind of trip? Thanks!
Thank you! As a reliable starter bike, the DR350 is pretty good. For a trip like this it's perfect as long as you understand that it doesn't have much power. It's also air cooled so if you're going slow for an extended period of time, it has the potential to overheat. Some of the trails we went on for this trip it didn't do so well, but not many trails are that challenging either. If you can find a good deal on one I'd say you should go for it!
Thanks for answering and thanks for the advice! Let's see what I found on the second hand market. Here in Spain, it is not easy to find a DR 350. I really like what people tell about that motorbike. If I do not find a good one I will increase my budget and buy a DRZ400 S. Do you think the 400 S is better in enduro and trail than the DR 350? Best regards!
DIFACIL PROJECTS yes, the drz 400 is better, but it requires a little more frequent oil changes. In return you get more power, water cooling, and better suspension. If you can afford it, it's the better buy.
Good night guys, greetings from Valledupar in Colombia, I have a Suzuki Dr350 from the year 96, I bought it abandoned and I am restoring it with the dream of traveling South America, Central and North America in it, and got all the engine parts, but the stock is missing, here in Colombia it is very expensive due to the devaluation of the Colombian pesos against the dollar, do you know how much a DR350 engine cylinder head would cost in the United States? I thank you very much for the information, greetings.
That sounds like a lot of fun! Thanks for commenting! A dr350 cylinder head will cost about $300-400 US dollars depending on the condition and where you buy it from. Good luck with your build!
I change it, cylinder, piston, rings, clutch and discs, cams, ballasts, time chain, I still need the cylinder head, it is the top of the cylinder, the part number of the catalog of the spare part I need is 11100-14D70 thanks for your help. Do you know where I can buy it in the USA?

Fan kit? High flow pump? Oil cooler ? Running lean at altitude doesnt help with the heat. I love my 06 EXC

What front fender do you have on your DR350?

@@losviajesdelcoco I would start with ebay, and if you don't have any luck there you can create an account on advrider.com and ask around.
