Hi Kabir and Mini...i m mesmerized by the stylish images and brilliant colour combination that you have used in decorating your house....the rustic looks of the walls and furniture adds to the beauty of your house..also one thing that took me by surprise is when I came to know that Kabir Khan's father belonged to Kaimganj in Uttar Pradeshwhich is even my hometown...
Kabir Khan is an amazing and brilliant director...I love watching his movies

Their house is "understated, warm and cozy" simply because that is the style these days. That's the trend now. That's what's in, if you know what I mean. Nowadays that's what a lot of celebrities are opting for, a mix of vintage eclectic with bohemian accents. Take a look at Parineeti Chopra's home, Alia Bhatt's new house. It's all vintage and boho everywhere these days. Yes the style itself is warm and inviting and cozy. Gone are the days polished glossy tiles and glossy furniture. Gone are the days when rich people wanted their homes to look like plush hotel lobbies with their cold museum-like floors. It's not about glamour, glitz, luxe and bling anymore. It's all about artsy tastefulness these days. Believe it or not, vintage eclectic is getting more and more expensive now because that's what's in demand. Moreover putting together an eclectic mix is difficult because it's just like Mini Mathur said, "we're not trying to build around a theme, it's a little bit of everything from here and there." They're aren't building around a theme, they're building a theme itself from different styles. That's complicated. The sofa covers need not necessarily match the sofa-pillow covers and the tablecloth needn't match the curtains. The rug and carpets are completely of different patterns and textures from the rest of the upholstery. The tea-set and dinner-set needn't be of the same colour and design. The furniture that's preferred is often wooden with a worn-out aged feel and faux patina. Gone are the days of polished steel with it's cold feel. Now the wooden almirahs and jharokas are back. Metals like brass, copper are once again in fashion but with greater utility. It's all a mix of different colours, patterns, textures and design. Yet when it's all put together, it's somehow cohesive giving the whole house a clever yet warm cozy look. That's why it's called "eclectic." Also the cultural style and heritage needn't be completely the same. It's a clever mingling of traditional Indian, Moroccan lamps and bathroom fittings, Bali window panes and outdoor area, etc. Sometimes it's pure minimalistic Zen in some corners and sometimes it's pure bohemian clutter. That's what's everybody is going for these days. Especially the rich and upper middle class.

I have the same issue of 2 colored room for a boy & girls interior in pink & blue - what colored unique ceiling fan can be suggested in this place, if I dont want a neutral shade?
You can look at a 3rd color possibly a green or lime green for funky pop in the #kidsroom or #nurserydecor. I can suggest this lovely brand #Luxaireluxuryfans & 1 fan particularly has all 3 color blades in transparent pink, blue & green!

I loved the entire house from the colors, the furniture, the terrace the kitchen everything as I also love a open kitchen and rustic handmade things I dont know what it is but a hand woven/made thing be it furniture, cloth anything it has a very different feel not like machine made apna pan lagta hain. I felt their house was too much for me. I mean it had too much going on. I think it is about time their kids separate rooms. Puberty is the worse time for kids to share a room.
A very western thinking. Babies are put in a separate room from the day they come home & then kids move out as soon as they are adults. India things are quite different tho the Western influence is becoming quite evident since a decade or two
@@sivan6924 They aren't babies! My nine year old daughter shares a room with her two younger brothers. That's okay and I understand the Indian culture just as well as yourself, however, puberty is a very difficult time for all. In the older days, parents were present in the same room as their children and could monitor them. There is absolutely no harm in separating the two. I personally have shared a room with my siblings and parents! I have seen in some other families where the younger siblings were sexually abused by older siblings, so don't sit there and defend it. Just because it happened in India, it doesn't mean it should continue! Not all cultures are perfect.
