One of the best Maiden songs that was never played live! I first heard this song on the radio(!) in the summer of 1992, as a promo for the album, tuned in to it during the first chorus, but I was unaware it was Maiden. I recognized Bruce on the vocals, and I was like, is this the new album? It sounded amazing.
This is one of Dave Murray's contributions... he's basically the flagship guitarist of Iron Maiden because of his technical skills and ability to command the frets on and off stage... Both Adrian & Janick have not been able to replicate Murray's demanding guitar solos. In the Maiden biography, when Steve Harris saw Dave Murray play in a bar in London, the guitarist was only 20... and Harris thought he was "unbelievable" and right away offered him a gig in Iron Maiden... Murray saw Iron Maiden live and when he auditioned, he was impressed by the original songs that Harris was writing - he said they actually pushed his talents as a guitar player as he learned songs like 'Wrathchild'... 'Transylvania' and 'Prowler'... Even when members came & went during the club days... from 1977 to 1979, it was the line-up of Harris, Murray, Paul Di'Anno and drummer Doug Sampson, who held together.
Respectfully disagree, dude. The general consensus is that Adrian Smith is by far the best player in Iron Maiden. As a somewhat accomplished guitarist myself, I absolutely agree with that sentiment.
@@BenScott777 Just because I can play football doesn't mean I can analyze pro players or go toe-to-toe w/ Vinicius Jr. or Angel DiMaria...😂 If history serves me correctly, the "general consensus" in America in the 50's was - "segregation now, segregation fah-evah!" They were wrong. And so are you. Listen to the Psycho Motel albums that Adrian Smith recorded... or the recent Smith/ Kotzen record... his guitar playing doesn't even come close to Dave Murray's precise and fluid fretwork in Iron Maiden. Adrian Smith's strength is being a composer... a riff master. That is his primary role in Iron Maiden... while Dave Murray's is to 'Maiden-ize' the songs coming to the band. I suggest u try and accomplish a credible opinion... since your guitar playing expertise is obviously lacking...😈
@@BenScott777 I disagree, as a guitarist myself I think Murray is technically more gifted, Smith is generally a better solo writer but that doesn't means he is technically better, I saw Dave doing sweeps and doing faster tappings than Smith and is ofc a lot faster on the fretboard. You can prefer Adrian and say he has a better feeling for melody and I would agree, but just watch Rock in Rio or every guitar work done by Murray after the 90s, he was peak performer at the time, now he is a lot over the place and improvisating way to much. The guy has sheer more technical talent than Smith, meanwhile Smith is far better melodically. You can prefer Smith like the majority of maiden fans do, but this doesn't change the fact Murray is more skilled in pure technique.
This is the song that deserved to be played live, it's such a badass tune. A amazing chorus, Bruce vocals sound amazing, awsome riffs, and great solos. The only thing that kinda sucks though is how short it is. Definitely my favorite track on this album, yes even more than the title track 🤟.
Solos are all Dave Murray in this. Infact he wrote the song. Lyrics by Harris. Best song on the album IMO. Fear of the Dark is great too, but it’s a bit like Deep Purple and smoke on the water. Played to death. It’s every non-Maiden fans favourite.
An alright song, it has it's moments. Good guitar on this one. It's talking about people bad side as Judas, whispering in your ear. Selling their soul for a few pieces of silver like Judas. So much better to have Jesus as your guide. On to Weekend Warrior.
Yeeeaaaahhhh, full-strength Maiden is back baby! As a complete side track, did you know there is a British beer called The Trooper started by the band, complete with famous Eddie logo? I’ve never had the chance to try it, very hard to get here in 🇦🇺
Hello hurm1t, I subscribed to your channel because I love iron maiden and how you react to their songs. I'm from Argentina and I want to recommend the group RATA BLANCA, I know you'll love it, and its guitarist Walter Giardino. Thank you and I hope you can do some reaction to white rat, recommended themes: "the legend of the fairy and the magician", "the forgotten kingdom", "talisman".
A great track. Not the best one on the album for me (mine being Afraid to Shoot Strangers and Fear of the Dark) but still a great one. This whole album is really underrated.
Best track on the album imo. Amazing guitar solos by Dave and it has the best chorus as well. I don't know if Be Quick Or Be Dead or Afraid To Shoot Strangers are my second favourite from this album. Pretty tied. Fear if the Dark is a third for me, even though it's really really good.
nice reaction. Janick has some good lyrics, too. He is no Adrian but esp 2000 era has been good for him, too. he has great contribution in maiden catalogue. but sometimes he gets muddy. Now the final track. Please LIVE version
This song particularly and the album in general are good, besides Bruce's and Adrian's departure for almost a decade but it kept Iron Maiden alive. 😈Up🎤🤘 The 🎸🔱 Irons 🥁
I think the phrase "Judas be my guide" must link with the whole lyrics. Nothing is sacred and everything was a lie, so now we must go and listen to that other opinion that was always fought against, to hear other truths. The sad thing is, you are actually listening to a traitor, a mercenary. So in the end, you might be led to another wrong path.
Best song on the album. Fear of the dark is let down by cringey lyrics, as far as I'm concerned. It's a good song, but massively overrated, in my opinion.
Agree with both your points. When i was younger i thought fear of the dark was the shit, as i grew up i realized it's just an okay song, a good live performer. Yet Judas my guide i loved when i was young and i still loved it today as much as i did 20+ years ago
I agree as well. I think Fear of the Dark is the most overrated Maiden tune! Its just ok and the lyrics are juvenile! Blood Brothers comes a close second for me. I’ve never understood the love for either songs.

After 'Fear of the dark', 'Judas be my guide' is the best song in this álbum!
You got that right.
Absolutely agree! “Be Quick Or Be Dead” and “Afraid To Shoot Strangers” are the other contenders but “Judas Be My Guide” is just so good!

A Dave masterpiece, as well as him doing ALL the solos on this one! Awesome.
I must have heard and sung this chorus about 5000 times already and it never gets old.
This is the best song on the album. YMMV regarding Fear of the dark and Be quick or be dead. A shame it's so obscure.
2:55 Dave solo yeahhhhhhhhhh

Yes to Jesus 🙏
2nd best song on the album after title track.
Nice little short ripping filler tune! Reminds me of something like Sun and Steel off of PoM.
I wish Murray wrote more material for Maiden.
Great great great song! Too short though, ha. Who would have thought Iron Maiden would make a song too short? :)
Janick grows on you, cracks me up watching him live😂

My favorite maiden song on this album and a rare Dave Murray song written track
Great song!!!!

Up the irons!
An amazing song! 🤘

Totally agree so many great maiden tracks on this album.....Afraid to shoot stangers still gives me goose bumps after 30 years!

Dave Murray did the solos on this song, not Janick
Never been one of my favorites from this album. Nothing beats Afraid To Shoot Strangers. A top 10 Maiden track of all time.
My fav song on the album, in your face, short and sweet.
Love this song. Nice transitions, not too long, they play it like they mean it.
Τhis and afraid to shoot strangers are my favorites
nice reaction. Janick has some good lyrics, too. He is no Adrian but esp 2000 era has been good for him, too. he has great contribution in maiden catalogue. but sometimes he gets muddy. Now the final track. Please LIVE version

Hurm…Janick is third fiddle. Unnecessary. This song is a short banger. The way Bruce sings and the way drums pushing.
It's alright it's passable, not one of there best but it's ok. And I'm a huge Maiden fan 🤘🤘🤘
Personally I don't understand this song and chains of misery never has been played live.
JUDAS PRIEST yeaaahhh
Best song on the album.

@@helgaratbone1691 Yes. Its bizarre isn't it?
Yep. Played every show. Every reactor does it.
Bruce should sing all the songs on this album and the previous one again by eliminating the Donald Duck voice that he has especially in the verses.
