I've been looking for a video like this, where the Tutor not only gives us tips but they also show us a sample of how the actual teaching works, and it's wonderful!! I have to say that I'm more than enthusiastic about becoming an ESL teacher, thanks teacher Karen!!!
Wow Karen! Your presentation is vibrant, informative, practical and passionate. I have my first interview for online ESL teaching 4 hours from now. Although I have 23 years English teaching experience, I have never taught online. So yes, I am a bit nervous but watching you has given me confidence. Thank you.
Thanks for the video. I respectfully disagree with swicthing languages since I've practiced the Communicative Approach in English only for more than a decade. It's a matter of using the right strategies and allowing the students to feel some sort of natural struggle in a safe environment. Translating it does not really help, on the contrary it makes them feel they won't be able to fully understand the target language. One as an English teacher has to limit the language in the Pre A1 level as we start creating the foundations of it step-by-step. It is possible because I do it on a weekly basis with Pre A1 students who overcome that face in less than a month, moving to a Low A1 level and then a high A1 level. It's wonderful seeing their progress while teaching English only lessons. 😊❤👌
Thank you so much Teacher Karen for sharing this to us. I've a learned and I am inspired to become better teacher. I hope you will not stop sharing this kind of videos.
Thank you, lahat ay possible basta may passion, hardwork and determination. Practice is key! :) This is a product of 8 years of teaching experience. :)
I don't do independent tutoring as of the moment. But for my booked classes in Native Camp, I just do it on the spot and multitask to figure out how to teach the material. Though, I study the course material in advance.
Do you have videos that teaches speaking to intermediate adult...she wants to improve grammar when speaking and i need fun games online as well in our class
So whether the language the student speaks its good to combine the class saying the expressions we teaching them in both the TL their own language so the can understand better?
Ang ginagawa ko, sa 5 minute interval between classes, I usually do stretching (body and face), I walk around, drink lots of water, and even sometimes, use a massager (pwedeng device, pwedeng husband).
Hi Teacher Karen. I have a student that is Arabic and can't speak or understand English at all. Do you have some advice or material how to teach this student. My first time
Unfortunately I don't :( However, other than using Google Translate, it's best to incorporate gestures and total physical response when communicating with a total beginner.

Karen, how do you prepare your lesson plans? How do you know what to teach next? (Especially if one is an independent tutor/teacher)
I don't do independent tutoring as of the moment. But for my booked classes in Native Camp, I just do it on the spot and multitask to figure out how to teach the material. Though, I study the course material in advance.

Question:
May I ask what app do you use during your lessons?
This app is called CLASS IN, you can have 40 min classes for free :) just register your mobile number.
What program do you use when teaching? I need the black board function
It's called Classin. It's free

"Knowledge extension"
Is it a common term?
I only came across it in ESL and Acadsoc. In training and development, we call it "adding value to learning" or "the extra mile".
teach next how to teach IELTS 🤗🤗🤗♥️
Will do soon! One of the most challenging lessons indeed hihih :)
Yeah role play, they are like "i want to learn English as fast as possible but I prefer not to use it" 😒 even easy and simple dialogues are a no no
It's pretty challenging to learn a language you don't prefer to use.
Hi teacher Karen, sana mag upload ka rin like level A2.
Will do my best
You speak too fast. I barely catch what you're saying
Are u a teacher or not? You're supposed to understand
Very well Teach I learned a lot 🫡🫰
