    I've been looking for a video like this, where the Tutor not only gives us tips but they also show us a sample of how the actual teaching works, and it's wonderful!! I have to say that I'm more than enthusiastic about becoming an ESL teacher, thanks teacher Karen!!!

    Wow Karen! Your presentation is vibrant, informative, practical and passionate. I have my first interview for online ESL teaching 4 hours from now. Although I have 23 years English teaching experience, I have never taught online. So yes, I am a bit nervous but watching you has given me confidence. Thank you.

    Thanks for the video. I respectfully disagree with swicthing languages since I've practiced the Communicative Approach in English only for more than a decade. It's a matter of using the right strategies and allowing the students to feel some sort of natural struggle in a safe environment. Translating it does not really help, on the contrary it makes them feel they won't be able to fully understand the target language. One as an English teacher has to limit the language in the Pre A1 level as we start creating the foundations of it step-by-step. It is possible because I do it on a weekly basis with Pre A1 students who overcome that face in less than a month, moving to a Low A1 level and then a high A1 level. It's wonderful seeing their progress while teaching English only lessons. 😊❤👌

    Karen, how do you prepare your lesson plans? How do you know what to teach next? (Especially if one is an independent tutor/teacher)

    • @TeachaKaren
      @TeachaKaren  3 года назад +1

      I don't do independent tutoring as of the moment. But for my booked classes in Native Camp, I just do it on the spot and multitask to figure out how to teach the material. Though, I study the course material in advance.

    Ang galing mo talaga teacha Karen. Also, question ko lang. Hindi po ba sumasakit yung pisngi mo kapag sunod sunod yung students? Diba kasi laging naka smile at kapag magsasalita ay naka emphasize talaga yung words so masakit po kasi sa pisngi yun para sakin. Hahhaha ang gulo ng tanong ko sana masagot mo po

    • @TeachaKaren
      @TeachaKaren  3 года назад +2

      HAHAHAHAH sobrang tawa ko dito sis. TRUE NA TRUE! Kapang sunod-sunod ang class ko, pisngi ko ngawit na ngawit. Ang ginagawa ko, sa 5 minute interval between classes, I usually do stretching (body and face), I walk around, drink lots of water, and even sometimes, use a massager (pwedeng device, pwedeng husband).

    Hi Teacher Karen. I have a student that is Arabic and can't speak or understand English at all. Do you have some advice or material how to teach this student. My first time

    • @TeachaKaren
      @TeachaKaren  Год назад

      Unfortunately I don't :( However, other than using Google Translate, it's best to incorporate gestures and total physical response when communicating with a total beginner.

    "Knowledge extension"
    Is it a common term?

    • @TeachaKaren
      @TeachaKaren  3 года назад +1

      I only came across it in ESL and Acadsoc. In training and development, we call it "adding value to learning" or "the extra mile".
