I just made blueberry scones for the first time, thanks to your easy-peasy video, and they turned out really well! Cannae believe it! Me - who hates cooking/baking! What a screaming LEGEND you are, my friend! Blueberry hugs from Scotland xx
Thanks a lot, great to hear you are giving the recipes a try.
I love your recepies. And my kids who are students use these tasty meals regulary.
Thanks a lot, good to hear everyone is enjoying them.
Thanks so much, love the simplicity. ☺
Yes simple and delicious. Thanks a lot.
I found this new recipe as I was deciding what to have for tea, so I immediately decided to make these (I used butter as I understand it is healthier than margarine). Oh my goodness they are delicious, I prefer them to normal scones! I made your ginger cake yesterday, and the lemon drizzle last week, both amazing!! Thank you!!
Always great to hear that others are trying and enjoying the recipes. Thanks for watching.
Do you know how to make crumpets? Everyone has a different recipe. Since your from UK can you make them please. That was my favourite snack to eat in North America. When I was in England, I never heard of them. Got to say, you are totally good at maths. In North America they are called biscuits. Thank you.
I've never tried to make crumpets, but they are on the list and when I get a reliable recipe I will definitely make a video. Thanks a lot.
There is a lady on youtube from New Zealand who has a nice crumpet recipe, "The Farmers Wife Homestead" but will be nice to have a UK recipe too 🙂
I adore your videos. Thank you for making them. I hope that, one day, you'll do an 'About Me' video, telling us a bit about yourself and your background in baking.
Thanks a lot, I will try to add a little about myself in the videos I know I've been quite anonymous so far, but this is only because I like to get straight to the baking.
@@BakingOnABudget Understandable. Well, you certainly look the part and I've often thought to myself, 'He's got to be a retired baker.'
We have a biscuit here in Australia called an Anzac - it’s made from oatmeal and is wonderful - can’t wait to give your scones a whirl - cheers and keep them coming 👍😃
Thanks a lot, loads more recipes to come.
Thank you for the recipe! i prefer to eat with less white flour, so i was mixing your old scones recipe with other flours with no gluten, one of them, oatmeal. I use butter because margarine is not good for your health and stevia instead of sugar.
Thanks a lot, yes there are a few options for each recipe according to dietary and health needs. Hope your version turns out great.
More recipes please
Many more to come. Thanks
Going to try it with sultanas
Gonna give these a bash, ill toast the oats dry in a frying pan just to release a bit more flavour…cheers 👍
Sounds good, thanks for watching.
I didnt know you could release.more flavor by toasting the oats. Thanks for.the tip.
These look really good and I will certainly try. Thank you David. I did wonder if this could be adapted to a cheese scone with the sugar omitted and perhaps some baking powder included to help it rise and be less dense. Excellent as ever, I am glad your channel is doing so well.
David, I took your recipe and omitted the sugar and then added, 1/2 tsp of baking powder, 75gms of grated cheddar cheese, 1 tsp of made-up mustard and a sprinkling of white pepper, I used some milk with the egg to bind it all. It made 8 scones and they are very nice. Thanks for the basis of the recipe.
Hi Chris, yes there are a few variations that can be made to the basic recipe. Thanks and yes the channel is doing very well just hit 15k subscribers. Loads more videos to come.
Thanks
cheesy/oaty scones 👍
Your recipes have been so helpful. I have a variation on your oat scone! I add a few shakes of cinnamon and some chopped apple, use a little bit of brown sugar, and then I form them like your rock buns. My mom and dad especially love them, so I’m bringing some over for Father’s Day tomorrow. Thank you for all your tutorials.
My pleasure....glad you are enjoying the recipes.
That's as simple as! Even I could make these. I think😊. Where on earth do you get your eggs for 13 pence?? Excellent series by the way.
Yes real easy to make and delicious, I get 15 eggs from asda (there essentials range) for £1.99. Thanks a lot.
Oops, the ingredients says ONE TEASPOON of salt, but it looked like you only put in a pinch...
That could be so, I'll amend the description. Thanks.
But you can use butter?
a little more expensive but better flavour 😂
Yes you could use all butter if you want.
Look delicious. My husband and I enjoy a good scone with our coffee in the morning. Pretty quick and easy to make. Thanks for sharing 😊
My pleasure, hope you enjoy them.
Traveling tomorrow so whipped up a batch of these gems! 4 for the trip because two mysteriously vanished shortly after they came out of the oven. 😂 😂
It must have been the mice lol.
I think they will be nice with some raisins added...
Yes raisins or any dried fruit would work. Thanks for watching.
i just popped mine in the oven , so im hoping it will be good , all your other recipis have been very very good , thank you you most humble servant and fellow baker Brenda
Hope you enjoy the scones and thanks very much.
Lovely…thank you…am very keen to have more oat based recipes. Jinxy
I was thinking of doing homemade hobnob biscuits with oats. Thanks.
Thank you, we try it.
I hope they turn out great. Thanks.
I never heard of oatmeal scones… I’ll be making these! 👏👌
Real simple to make and delicious. Hope yours turn out great.
Oh, these look wonderful. Thanks, Dave, for these achievable and economic recipes. I am sharing your channel with friends and family.👍🤗
Thanks a lot, hope you give the scones a go, simple and delicious.
would it be an idea and would it work. if you used oats and grind it to flour and use that and 1 or 2 baking powder as the raising agent instead of the SR flour.
I was just thinking this due to white flour is well processed and some people do not like using it because of this.
oat has no gluten, so oat alone doesn't really work 😮
You should check out a gluten-free recipe using oat flour and what additions they suggest to make the dough pliable. They use various gums or psyllium for that. I'm sure it's possible. I'm going to be using a gluten-free flour blend in place of the wheat flour.
I would go with what @renel7303 said. Thanks for watching.
Another triumph 😊
Thanks a lot, hope you give them a try.
An excellent bread alternative for the repertoire……..good job 😀👍
Thanks a lot, hope you give them a go.
@@BakingOnABudget ……making them today…….I usually make a soda bread a week these are this weeks substitute
Going to try.❤️🇨🇦🐕
Great, let me know how they turn out.
Thanks, Dave. Another great recipe to try. Cheers
Thanks a lot and once again thank you very much for your support, it is greatly appreciated.
Those look good 👍
They are real good and simple to make.
flap jack may be a good one to . oats being cheap as chips
Hi, There is a no sugar flapjack recipe up on the channel.
Can you make crumpets, please.
Crumpets are on the list, coming soon.
Thank you for the conversions .
No problem, hope it's helpful.
A bit of butter and a cuppa tea... Sold it for me! 😄
These recipes you are sharing taste amazing, I can’t thank you enough!
(Have you thought about creating an Amazon e-book?)
Keep well 🕊
Thanks a lot, I'm not sure about making a recipe book, others have asked me and I may consider it i the future but right now I'm just enjoying making the videos.
I love your recipes and how you price them out. Here in the US, margarine became popular during WWII. I find a lot of recipes that call for it from then. I wonder how much baking powder to put in if you don’t have self rising flour.
I think its 1 tsp to every 150g of flour. Thanks.
These looked so delicious, and as a struggling student I had to make them! Already made my second batch in 3 days, my friends loved it and had it warm with some homemade apple jam and raspberry jam. They were even delicious plain with a cuppa. A recipe I'll be coming back to time and time again!
Thanks, and great to hear you tried the recipe and enjoyed it, I make these often, a great snack.
Nice!
Hope you give them a try.
That was great, as usual! THANK YOU.
For sure I could use butter instead of margarine.
I think some raisins would work well in this too.
Yes all butter would be good and a fre raisins would work well too.
Hi, I'm Bonnie from the USA. I've just recently subscribed to your channel. Just happened to come across it one day and I love your videos. You make everything look easy and best of all, inexpensive to make. Thank you for teaching us. ❤️
My pleasure, hope you give some of the recipes a try.
I priced these for Australia 🇦🇺 and the cost is comparable to the UK. I know Aldi is a bit cheaper (no longer by much) but as Aldi aren't in every town, I used the stores' own brands from our two main supermarkets. Flour 16c; oats 24c; margarine 28c; sugar 3c; egg 42c; salt 1c. Total $1.14 / 6 = 19c each. Well done on another inexpensive and delicious recipe. Keep these simple and delicious recipes coming please.
Thanks a lot....It's good to have a price comparison with other countries.....loads more recipes to come.
These look so good. I'll have to make them this week. Honey butter would be fantastic brushed on top. Maybe add some dried fruit to the dough. So many things you can do with this. Thank you for all the wonderful and inexpensive recipes.
Yes there are a few alternatives and additions that could be made to the basic recipe. Hope yours turn out great.
They look beautiful, need to make them, thank you
My pleasure, hope they turn out great.
In the US we have self rising flour, is that the same as self raising flour?
Yes, I think it's just my spelling mistake. Thanks
@@BakingOnABudget Thank you
Thank you for this easy oatmeal scone recipe I really enjoy watching your videos and you explain every thing so clearly much appreciated
Thanks a lot, hope you try the scones.
I tried it and theyre delicious
Crumbly sweet and hearty
Just magnificent
Always great to hear that others are trying the recipes and enjoying them. Thanks.
This morning for breakfast I made again the first scones from your videos. This time I included the sultanas I had previously left out. I really liked the sultanas which honestly, I didn't think would care for. I'll try your delicious looking oak scones this time. Thank you!
Thanks a lot, hope you enjoy the oat scones. Thanks for watching.
Fantastic
Thankyou for recipes.Slice please or a tray cake, banana bread maybe.🎉
Thanks for the suggestions, loads more recipes to come.
Wonderful ! Thank you 👍
My pleasure.
Did you use quick oats or regular oats? I love anything with oats. Thank you for this!
I used regular oats. Thanks for watching.
Love anything with oats, not a scone fan but I’ll eventually get them made. Sound lovely.
They make a real good snack with a cup of tea. Thanks.
Just made these, wonderful. thank you
Thanks...glad you enjoyed them.
I’ve never heard of oatmeal scones so had to have a go at these - and they were delicious! Another keeper of a recipe Dave! ❤
Thanks a lot....glad you enjoyed the scones.
Slather it with butter and jam!!
Yes, and don't forget the cup of tea.
How do you make regular flour, self rising?
For each cup of all purpose flour add 1 1/2 teaspoons of baking powder. Also a pinch of salt
I think you add 1tsp of baking powder to every 150g of plain flour.
@@BakingOnABudget Said the real baker. I am an American but trying to use grams instead of cups
I have found so many variations when searching but I read 1 teaspoon per 100g of flour from Delia Smith's website 🤷
I made these using some oat flour I had previously ground instead of whole oats but not sure if I should have used more baking powder, these are like thick biscuits!! 😂
They will still get eaten either way, still warm out of the oven right now!
This recipe seems easy enough, even for me 😂!
Hope you give it a go. Thanks for watching.
So cheap. 😊😊but tasty 😊😊
Yes it's a win win, hope you give them a try.
A bit of cinnamon, a bit of almond or vanilla essence for different tastes.
Good tip, thanks a lot.
Could you use oats ground into flour instead of Sr flour?
I've never tried that....but it should work. Give it a go and let ne know. Thanks.
I very much enjoy your channel sir. Can you please tell me if you used quick oats or normal oats for this recipe. Thank you
Thanks a lot....I used normal oats in this recipe.
@@BakingOnABudgetthank you for your response!
Will make pizza next week , like this recipe too!
Thanks a lot, good luck with the pizza.
Very good recipe as always. Thanks again!
My pleasure, hope you give them a go.
Never had an oat scone .. great time to check them out !
They are real easy to make and delicious. Hope you give them a go.
I tried to make your fruit cake I added cherry as well. it looked good on the outside.but in side it was a bit moist in the middle. what do I do wrong. thanks
Fruit cake should be moist, people try hard to get the moistness. As long as it wasn’t falling apart in a mush it’s probably fine.
It might be the oven temp, sometimes the temp can be different to what it says on the dial. An oven thermometer is a good idea to check.
thankyou I will try it@BakingOnABudget
Another fantastic recipe 😋
Thanks a lot.
Were the oats blended to flour?
No the oats were straight out of the bag. Thanks
Thank you, I blame my eyesight :)@@BakingOnABudget
Going to make some, nice and easy.
Yes it's a real simple recipe, hope you enjoy them.
I made these again today, they are becoming a staple! So delicious, and can be used with sweet or savoury fillings/toppings. I don’t even cut them out, just divide the dough and fashion into rustic rounds, so quick. Thank you so much for the recipe!
My pleasure. glad to hear you are enjoying them. hanks
It surprises me that there is not more raising agent added. But they look excellent. They remind me a little of my MILs rock cakes.
Great channel, keep going, much more useful for everyday life than fancy recipes!!!!
Thanks a lot, hope you give the scones a go there were delicious. Thanks for watching.
Saya suka scones sangat2❤❤
Saya harap Anda mencoba resepnya

You are a treat! Thank you for sharing your economical recipes and being patient with all the critical comments.
Thanks a lot, I enjoy all of the comments and 99.9% have been really positive and encouraging. Loads more recipes to come.
Absolutely delish! Thank you
My pleasure glad you enjoyed them.
Do you think could use milk instead of eggs, for us veganos? I made your normal scones yesterday and used milk to glaze instead of egg. They were so good and my dad absolutely loved them
You would need the egg in the mix but you could skip the egg wash.
@@BakingOnABudget thanks for the advice. I passed your recipe on to my dad who is going to give these a go 😊
Giving them a go!
I hope they turn out great. Thanks for watching.
It is a real pleasure to watch you. Your expressions are so warm. There is one thing I do not care for in this recipe and that is using margarine as it’s really “fake food” actually one molecule from being plastic. If you leave it out flies will not alight on it. Using pure butter could only be flavorful.
I wonder if using grated cheese would work 🤔. Would save having to do all that tedious 'rubbing in'. Will give it a go 👍
There are vegan plant based 'butters' that are heart healthy. Perhaps that is what he used, and called it margarine.
I know what you mean about the marg, I usually use butter or lard, but this old recipe called for marg so i thought I'd give it a go. Thanks for watching.
