    We're using a brand new 2022 SK1550 right and we will do side by side comparison of the 2021 versus the 2022 so you guys can look forward to that review here in the future.

    About 15 years ago I was working on a brand new golf course that had bad wet areas on a ton of the holes. We did over a mile and a half of French drains like this one. We rocked all the way to the top and just let the Bermuda grass grow right over it. Dried that place right up. Night and day difference.

    Your videos helped me build the confidence and know-how to build my own french drain. I just finished it yesterday and today it rained. Your advice paid off. The burrito wrap works and we had some serious water draining through the system. Thanks for the tips and videos!

    It will be interesting to see if those pipes can contain the 'whitewater' the homeowner spoke of. Please show us.

    What would happen if you didn’t use pipe. Just put fabric in the bottom and up the side and filled with nothing but round stone ? Would it work ? Or eventually clog ?

    • @FRENCHDRAINMAN
      @FRENCHDRAINMAN  2 года назад

      The innovation of pipe is what increased the void in a French drain system allowing for more water collection and flow. It would be like stepping back in time 100 years. I don't see the point or logic behind what you are asking. The pipe increases air flow drying the subsurface soil quickly. Thank you for commenting. I hope this helps.

      @@FRENCHDRAINMAN trying to install a system like this. Relative has gravel drive with culvert pipe under it. On upside of driveway the land is sloped and has dirt only ditch that catches it and runs into culvert pipe to other side that’s just dirt and yard. Can I do this setup but use 4-5 inch stone on top like a dry creek bed? Would I do on both sides of driveway? Wasn’t sure which size stones is best on top. It’s a long 200’ run at least to run it to woods. Thanks

    Wanting to educate myself with regards to design if areas above (neighboring yards) otherwise flow water down slope to this person's yard, is he not essentially becoming like the drain in a big multi yard bathtub so to speak? With water generally flowing downhill or to the path of least resistance is he not now drawing in water from uphill sources to his yard and drain system? While the drain system installed is great and will flow the water to allow his yard to dry out, almost seems like it's an uphill issue if everyone trespassing water down to this person's yard. Neighboring homes should pay to put systems in their yards as well including drains perpendicular to the flow of water as cutoff points to stop it from going across each other's yards. I have french drains at perimeter to bottom of footings and full perimeter at outer property lines combined with multiple round and square surface collectors and drives me insane having decent system and uphill neighbors having socked corrugated pipe thrown in silt or dirty gravel with no fabric so there's does not collect squat as silt plugged, and their properties sent all the scoured silt, leaves, debris, and uncollected water to my functioning darin system thus my property the drain in the bathtub. Thank goodness our local City public works and DEQ under clean water act (online complaint firm) will step in if property owners don't manage drainage and allow water scoured soil, debris, or silt flow to run to a stormwater basin, or curb inlet as the silt or debris ends up in water system.

      @@FRENCHDRAINMAN Yes I think that’s exactly what I need is a grid pattern like that. Its kind of in a valley and it all turns to a big soupy mess and I can’t mow my lawn at all!
      I have 9 1/2 acres with a few soggy areas
      How much slope do I need coming out of the grid? I have no neighbors just woods all the way around me. My whole yard is sloped down to the back corner
      That yellow perforated pipe is that 6 inch?

    I like those ditch witches but I would have have rather used a tracked skid steer with a 84" bucket for the day to lay the rock in. You always have goo methods and staging, that is the true key!

      We surgically go about an install, and we don't make work for ourselves by destroying 1200 yd, of sod and 6 sprinkler zones. That's what happens when you do what you just said.
