When you doing colossals buddy
How about next week?
Thad be noice@@monkwashere
@@monkwashere thank you brother
np and nice pfp
Colossal would be great like all your other videos
The guardian sword spear has a true combo with jumping heavy to light attack. Only works while one handed
Night rider has 2nd R1 to 3rd free aimed true combo too
@@Ishtiyaaq what angle do you need to do the 3rd at?
Fun fact: Every version of the halberd has some form of a true combo. Guardian Swordspear moveset gets one handed jump R2 into R1, Poke halberds get 2 handed jump R2 into R1 and one handed R1 into basically any small off hand weapon. Chop Halberds have the weirdest ones. They get 2 handed R1 into Fan Dagger headshot into 2nd R1, and a 2nd R1 combos into the 3rd R1 in the chain if you aim the third hit to the left.
Special shoutout to the Lucerne btw. It took until patch 1.09, which was over a year from release, for it to actually have Pierce damage on every attack.
Been looking at the Lucerne recently, just to double check: all attacks work with the Spear Talisman now(?) Heavy, Light, Rolling, Jumping, etc?
Lucy, oh my sweet sweet Lucy.
@nathreetimesnineequalstwen7172 yes and all pierce does counter damage already so if you think about it the Lucerne has always been the hidden gem ( at least for me )
When I got it I was thinking "nice blunt damage on a pole arm" but it's actually pierce damage and on that note why on earth doesn't pierce work on the scaled miners?
I love how 90% of the halberds just straight up aren't halberds
Lol right?
All the gargoyle weapons should have the destined death effect on the ashes of war.
Actually scratch that, all enchanted weapons with basic ashes of war should have something special going for it, like the dragonkin halberd
Black wax gargoyles*
@@sand_sand7304 what are you attempting to correct here?
@@Adam-tu1qxgargoyles have nothing to do with destined death, they are the brownish big guys like the ones in lyndel. And then there are the black wax gargoyles that serve malikith and use destined death. Therefore the Black wax gargoyle weapons should have had destined death not the regular variation
The black blade kindred or black gargoyles should have some destined death effects on their weapon arts, that'd be sick
The greatsword does have the health sapping effect on its art, but the twinblade, halberd, and greataxe dont, which is kinda sad
Loretta's War Sickle is absolutely my nr. 1 weapon. The moveset, set up with spells to combo into the ash of war. Looks ✨Fabulous✨
Powerstanced halberd is my favorite build for arenas. Braggarts roar and spinning slash go so well
I actually tried a halberd-only playthrough and I ended up quitting halfway through because I found the powerstance to be extremely bad for PVE.
@@aesiro13 I definitely agree. I swapped to something else for endgame. I was speaking more for pvp that isn't just copy and paste meta
@@aesiro13for PvE, halberd are great but they really shine in PvP due to mixup and roll catch potential, which make them so strong. For PvE, I’d recommend the dragon halberd for early game, the frostbite + lighting will wreck everything early on. The guardian swordspear for late game as it has a very high scaling in dex and can be buffed by Millicent’s prosthesis and Rotten winged sword insignia very easily. Also buffable with greases so it’s extremely versatile. For str, the night rider glaive with war cry / braggarts roar can take you through the whole game easily, use the roar medallion, highland axe, spear talisman, and axe talisman and watch those R2s delete enemies. If you want a bleed option, the vulgar militia saw w/ Bloodflame Blade and spinning slash will absolutely delete health bars, you can also offhand a blood infused estoc for when enemies get too close.
Did you know spinning strikes hold L2 can be counter spun when locked off making the blade stay in a cone shaped hitbox on one side of you that hits like 2 times per second it absolutely shreds
😮
The dragon halberd and the hand of Malenia have both always been good it’s funny that the L2 warriors finally hopped on lol
The Dragon Halbeard it's one of my favorite weapons because my first victory against malenia was with this weapon
Same!
the Pest Glaive also gets solid scaling regardless of the infusion, it's not best in any class, but it's so flexible it can fit nearly any build
These testing runs are so good! No overloading with information on frame data and such which would be a lot for a video on a whole weapon class but also enough to get a picture of what to expect.
FINALLY! Been waiting so long for this
Do you plan on continuing this series with bows and magic spells? Or just the traditional weapons? Btw great series, makes pvp videos actually fun to watch.
I plan to do everything I can
@@monkwashereLegend
@@monkwasherehats off to u good sir
I personally use a Banished Knight Halberd with Stormcaller just for the Banished Knight Cosplay build I play around with any time I'm not running a Crucible Knight Cosplay build (seriously I'm damn near addicted to these two builds and I rarely run anything else because they're just that fun). May not do absolute show stopper damage but it still hits pretty hard no matter what level you're playing at. There will always be better options but it's reliably decent.
thankyou tbh i was feeling hella tense and needed to relax
Thay buffed the shield pierce on the Lucerne and the Militia Shotel, now 50% of the damage goes through shields which also applies to ranged ashes of war.
Halberds are my favorite weapons tbh
theese videos always make my day better
Love your videos dude!
very helpful video tysm ❤❤❤
My favorite weapon class, but also you deserve more subs dude, you make really good content
very helpful, thank you
It took way too long to find Elden Ring content this comprehensive and good. Gotta wade through 15,000 content creators whos weapons switch every 1-15 seconds... yay...
Good job, monk.
The hal of all berds!
I’ve loved (relatively lighter) halberds since discovering Lucerne in Dark Souls 1 and the Leo Ring (boosts pierce counterattacks)
Like tons of weapons in that game it fell behind in the late game due to scaling with certain builds, but it remained good against drakes and dragons throughout, and tore through those bastard Man-serpents
Lucerne is my fave weapon in DS1 but it hasn’t been the same since 😢
Just found your channel i like how you tell us where to find/farm for the weapons keep it up👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽
I appreciate you 🤝
thank you for doing this for me
The guardian sword spear is my favorite when I saw it I obsessed over getting it spending an entire day looking for it
The Nightrider Glaive reminds of the Black Knight’s Halberd / Black Knight’s Glaive from the Dark Souls trilogy. It’s called the Black Knight’s Halberd in Dark Souls 1 and 2 but it’s called the Black Knight’s Glaive in Dark Souls 3
this has been my fav series, im a proud monk enjoyer
Can't wait for curved greatswords, theyve been my favorite weapon class since ds1
came across your channel after getting back into ER, and I gotta say your content is actually such high quality, you deserve everything you got coming for you and your channel!
Swordspear with flaming strike on keen + flamme grant me strength = Massive destruction weapon.
I think you do better with lighting slash
I want to point out spinning strikes actually has way more hyper armor if you use the black knights halberd. It has the most hyper armor for halberds as far as I know. The combo is pretty deadly. Also, missed opportunity with the guardian swordspear, as they are absolute monsters when you dual wield. Fantastic video, definitely going to subscribe.
I've gotten the sword spear at first try in all my runs and I love it, but I hate mining a weapon on jumping into it everytime I have it but it's good to have it if needed.
Didn't know about the glaive thanks. Dropped on first skeleton was so happy lol
I love the basic halberd so much. Yes it just pokes but that’s all I ever wanted it to do!
Happy 25k 🎉🎈
The vulgar militia saw(aka the best cosplay build to play) and the knight rider one(great strength scaling) are my two favorite of this type of weapon
the best place to farm the erdtree guardian swordspear is outside of the room where u fight golden shade godfrey, down the root from wich u came. there are like 10 of those enemys, and dont forget there cool armor
i love the swordspear, and actually i was doing a gelmir knight build and i was going up to the avatar in weeping and first try i got one, two weeks after i spent 4 hours grinding for one and ended up giving up and spawning it in T-T
That last L2 with the Dragon Halberd had my jaw sitting on the floor for a few moments. That's ridiculous.
Happy to be one of the 20000 love the content
Great video!
Would love to see axes and daggers too, i'm it will be great
That Swordspear is no joke, I got one from my 1st run through of Weeping and I never changed weapons except to check out uniques.
Poke hals feel SO good dual wielded, if you hit them with most l1s it's a instant mixups.
-Roll back, get caught by poke.
-Roll right, uncharged heavy catches.
-Roll left chain l1 catches.
Also npc invaders can be stunlocked and bullied.
Like your stuff. Reminds me of weapon showcases from ds1 content creator MrIwontForget.
My first playthrough I used dual nightrider flails and absolutely loved them, I didn't know they were disliked in the community.
The halberd you're holding in your thumbnail is the best one in the game, and I'm not here to argue about it.
Flame Art Banished Knight Halberd on a Faith build with Black Flame Tornado absolutely slaps and the running r1s are so good for catching people trying to run from you.
Guardian swordspear, hands down. I like to dual wield them with thunderbolt in my right hand. Get the two handed roll catch potential, the one handed true combo, and thunderbolt for when people inevitably start running away from me and my wooden blender
It would have been nice to know that dragon halberd does extra damage to dragons, Fromsoft really needs a tab that explains exactly what each item does gameplay wise.
that wouldn't be very berserk of them though
Gargoyle halberd becomes the drip halberd when you put the fire buff on. It also would make sense to stay in fire cuz wax is flammable
You didn't mention the swordspear's true combo, which makes it that much more amazing. So nice to have on a dex build.
It's the Beastman Great Curved Sword, Magma Curved Sword, and Executioner's Great Axe that are a pain to actually Farm for. At a boosted Discovery of 314, they weren't showing up. Did finally get the Executioner's Great Axe 2 total, and 15 Grave Scythes for my Trouble.
8:33 this was way to damn funny
Also love the halberd love in this vid
You can farm the guardian spear early from the weeping peninsula. Same drop rate, lower level enemies. Warp to the church north of the erdtree, ride south and there's about 8-10 guardians. Took me less than an hour on a low level char
Bro, I thought you were more famous, cus you definitely deserve it
1:21 - I agree with you so much that I actually want to made the game into replacing every halberds’ poky move set into with the lucerne’s good hits but I don’t know how…
i like most the combo Commanders + Dragon
I’m on my first save in mid game and my main weapon is the Banished Knight’s Heavy Halberd+11 with Sacred Blade.
I just like the look of the Gargoyle Halberd.
Guardian Swordspear is my favorite, although that's because I am usually full DEX. I really like the look of the Nightrider Glaive though, so if I switch to STR I'll probably use that.
Cant wait for daggers. Erdsteel with status build up is broken lol
thanks
Yeah the Dragon Halberd is my favorite. So satisfying to destroy ennemies with it.
I like how Spinning Strikes is just DS3s Splitleaf Greatsword.
Halberds are my favorite weapon type in any Souls game. Would be nice if great axes were like other games, I don’t like only being able to chop down.
I love my guardian sword spear, halberds are so cool with the right ashes of war too. So glad somebody is going over the non meta weapons too finally thank yu 😂❤
Nightrider glaive with black flame tornado, MELTS elden beast. Gotta run a dex/str/arc build for it
Ohhh the glaive is using the spinleaf weapon art from DS3 :0 thats cool
Also Commander' Standard is probably my favorite, my first ever character used it when I got it.
9:33 Felt so good to watch a Dual Lancer get outplayed like that. Just seeing a Dual Lancer do the wiggling and crouching drains me of all my energy for the day. I'm so glad that my twinblade can stagger those players now because that makes it a lot easier to dispose of them.
The dragon halberd slaps so hard
I used the gargoyles halberd. I had a hard time with it until I played it like a great axe.
DRAGON HALBERD MY BELOVED
golden halberd with 55 - 60 str and 40 fth hits like an absolute truck, THE best weapon for srt/fth builds imo
At standard level 150, with 70 points of attack investment, the golden halberd is BY FAR the hardest hitting Halderd. Hit 70 str, 20 faith and you get like 885 AR, which is about 100 more then the nightrider glaive. Also, it gets a R1 to R1 true combi if you lock off and aim at about 2:30 or 3:00
Halberds are also awesome for horseback combat
I love halbirds!🦜🦅
I feel like the scythe class would be cool to showcase
Did him SO dirty against Blackish Blade with the Glaive 😭😭😭
Halbirds also have HA if you have 60+ poise.
Use 2 swordspears cuz R1’s look cool. Left cold ice spear, right flame art flaming strike. Call it the Fast Food Fighter cuz you enjoy freezing and reheating food.
Spinning strikes is underrated first time fighting mohg put him in a blender at the palace he didn’t even get a chance to attack
Monk, I really like your vids.
One of my biggest fears is that one day I’ll be in the weapon showcase PvP example
Pest glaive is easily the best. Go with blood affinity (blood tax is good), white varre mask, lord of blood talisman, and millicent prosthesis. Procs bleed in 1-2 hits, deals solid damage, and staggers most pve enemies with light attacks. I used it my entire NG+ and NG+2 without issue
Lucerne my beloved
I am convinced that the original intention behind the Black Garg weapons is that their Ashes would be unique variations of the original (just like Dragon Hal) and they would all deal the Destined Death DoT and nerf. Why they chose to not do that I'll never know.
The swordspear seems limited by its range, until you realize you can put the spear talisman on for 45% pierce damage counterattacks. At 60 dex the weapon has 700 AR, meaning you’re effectively poking for 1000 AR against their base armor value. What it loses in armor, it makes up for in being near impossible to trade lights with.
waiting for scythes👀
The glaive is a beast when quality or cold infused.
Ayo, shoulda tried to land a heavy spin attack.
Guardian Sword Spear is super easy to Farm. I'm on my first Playthrough and I've picked up 50 or more without even trying to Farm.
Halberd is the word
my favorit is the nightrider glaive, mostly because of the fact that ive made an arcane build with that thing with bleed, and i stacked it with phantom slash, but, ive been really wanting to know if this build will work, basically the same halberd with heavy affinity,, black flame tornado as the ash of war, and putting the bloodflame blade on it with braggarts roar (from a weapon that doesnt weigh much and isnt upgraded), golden vow, and flame, grant me strength, if you wanna try it out, be my guest, and if you do, please make a video about the build, i really wanna see if it works
It’s here‼️‼️‼️‼️🎉
Idk about halberds in demons, but from dark souls 1 onwards they've always been good
I farmed the guardian sword spread forever to get it and my farm spot had like 7 of them at a time still took forever I kept getting armor instead
On the gargoyle black weapon enly the sword is good
Do you plan on using torches in PvP? We all need to know their amazing movesets and ashes of wars
I'm afraid all of their ashes suck (the sleep torch's flame breath doesn't even do damage)
