    The formula for Standard deviation used here is quite different. Its £(x- x(bar))squared divided by n-1 and then to find its square root. You just divided it with n.

      I noticed the same and was wondering why the calculation didn't do n-1 =6-1=5

      We use this dividing by n-1 approach when we have scores from a particular group of people and we want to estimate what the variance would be for the larger group of people whom these individuals represent. The variance and standard deviations given in research articles are usually figure using n-1 approach. But here for better understanding of standard deviations as definitional formula simple 'n' is used.

      Actually, there are two things N & N-1 . n is used for the ungrouped data and n-1 for the grouped data. That's why he divided by n only :)

    Sir I have seen formula for SD=(x-xbar/n-1)^0.5 but you use in denominator only n, which formula for SD, one should be followed

      I think you use n in the denominator if the scores are from a population. You use n-1 if the scores are from a sample.

    for the ungrouped data, do the mean and standard deviation values are always 0 and 1 respectively?
    I have a academic problem here, and the mean and SD are not stated.

    Can a mean from the z scores be a zero? Despite having another set of given raw scores different from your sample here sir? I was wondering since I solved mine and its also zero.

    Why some people use square root of 76/N- 1?

    • @MathematicsTutor
      @MathematicsTutor  5 лет назад

      N-1 is used when we take a small sample.
      n is used when the sample is very large or we consider the population.
      Thanks

      @@MathematicsTutor That's confusing, I've always known it's N-1, using N only changes the result
