    Super helpful video.. re-watched the APP video again as I think about doing my car. I can't help but think that as an end-user who will do the APP, the 8/3 stack, the thought of having two big bottles of GSP and APP just feels wasteful as someone who plans on keeping my car clean as long as possible without polishing for a good few years. I highly recommend, you consider selling 1/2 size bottles of both for folks like myself(non detailing pros), or even a combo pack but each at 1/2 the size.

    • @diydetailofficial
      @diydetailofficial  21 день назад +2

      Unfortunately at this time smaller bottles would end up costing more. We would need to have a machine specifically to fill the bottles. Once you do one car many end up doing more for friends and family once they see the results.

    As always, excellent video. I do have a question, maybe a few. I will be getting a new car to replace my existing one. I usually don’t get a straight answer from the dealer regarding if it’s coated or not but I’m assuming that they don’t coat it due to cost. Secondly, it is or will be around 10F as a low with salted roads, so I will have to drive the car home in bad conditions. As you know, just driving around the block will yield a salty dust coating on the car. I don’t have a garage so I will drive the car until the temps can get to 55F or warmer to coat the car. What would be the best method when it comes around to that day? Decontaminate, the use APP and then your C6 hydro lite? Or decontaminate, polish, APP and then coat?

    • @diydetailofficial
      @diydetailofficial  18 дней назад

    I know you've heard so many requests for a smaller APP bottle size, but I wonder if there's any way to partner with individual retailers to do this - for example when I go to CarZilla they will throw in a random 80ml / 2.7oz sample-size of various random things like tire shine.

    Only once I applied a coating without polishing first, and it looked terrible. High spots and splotches everywhere. I don’t know why, but gloss aside, polished paint just makes a coating go down so much better than not polishing.

    • @kenanshobbies9970
      @kenanshobbies9970 21 день назад

      @gunarskozurovs9241: You have asked a very good question, and as I see no one has replied to your inquiry, I will take a stab at it. The short answer is yes. You need to abrade your existing coating if you plan to put a new ceramic coating on top of it. I personally am a big fan of the DIY Detail Gold Standard Polish system. It’s simple, which I like very much, and with the Gold Standard yellow waffle pad, it’s easy to use. Ease-of-use and simplicity should be in the lexicon of every detailer - even if you’re just an enthusiast like me. Good luck.

      @@kenanshobbies9970 I'm asking from a business perspective. Situations may vary, for example, a customer has done a paint enhancement + ceramic coating at another detailer , but doesn't like the coating results, maybe he wants to reapply the coating without polishing, so I ask to go directly to APP, because it's more efficient and cheaper for the customer. Main question - will my new coating bond to the surface and will work properly.
      The similar situation about matte paints. How we can remove old coating from matte paint?

    • @kenanshobbies9970
      @kenanshobbies9970 21 день назад +1

      @@gunarskozurovs9241 again, you have asked a very good, and granular question. I would defer you to the folks at DIY Detail for their input. I personally have not had to deal with matte paint enhancement or coating, nor do I have any experience (yet) with DIYD’s Adhesion Promoter Polish (APP). My understanding is the APP is used on paint to allow it to accept the new coating. I’ve not seen any videos where Yvan and Nick use it on ceramic coatings.

    Sorry guys I have had c6 hydro lite on my car since August 24 and it has now almost failed(Scottish winter weather ) and I have done everything from chemical to mechanical decon and still it’s sheeting water very very slow beading is flat . Now I install this using the method you describe as i had an existing coating on my car so used the red jeweling pad on rotary then followed up with app(9mm da ) . So what has went wrong ? Has it not bonded correctly to the abraded existing coating ?
    So maybe I should have used the yellow waffle pad first on rotary for the extra cut followed by the red waffle pad .

      It’s everywhere I am afraid . I will purchase more c6 hydro lite so I can redo my Mazda cx60 in spring time ,but until then I will just have to top it with quick beads to bring back the beading and sheeting .
      I will use the yellow pad followed by the red that way I will definitely have removed everything off so it’s back to bare paint .
      Oh and I use gold standard polish aswell just in case you mite think I used a different brand of polish and forgot to panel wipe before applying the app . 😃

    I just had my 5 year ceramic pro coating ‘inspected’ for $180 after year one. The coating was already breaking down on the doors and corner panels. I live in Illinois so I get that the salt is breaking it down but come on.

    • @chrisdenman1985
      @chrisdenman1985 20 дней назад

      So to help maintain that coating the people that did the "inspection" should have used some water spot remover to get the minerals off the coating. They are clogging the coating and that's why it seems to have lost its performance. If it's a true coating it is still there protecting the paint.

    • @diydetailofficial
      @diydetailofficial  20 дней назад

      The detailer should have decontaminated the paint. An inspection alone for $180 seems unreasonable. A full mechanical and chemical decontamination for $180 is a good price.
