Really glad you liked my Dollar General map! Got inspired when I drove past the one in Troy, that one looks even crazier in person. It looks like it was built in a ditch when you’re driving North towards it 😅
Now that I know that you all stayed at the Scandic Grand Central, I can confirm that our rooms last summer had those, too. One even had a record-player.
Approximately a third of Lebanon's population is Christian (and they were probably a majority at the time the statue was built), so I don't know if it would be considered an anomaly
@@Bre12_ Honestly that map felt like "uncharacteristic if you really don't know anything about the country at all", and even then, only if you think countries consist of a single landscape only, which most don't. How is Nigerian desert uncharacteristic, considering the country is partially in perhaps the most famous desert of all, the Sahara? Or mountains in Italy, if that image was taken in the Netherlands, THEN I'd say that's uncharacteristic. The concept is cool, but I don't feel like it's well executed, at least not in those rounds (or maybe it should just use another word than uncharacteristic)
Hi, I made the first map, I kinda rushed it so a lot of places I couldn't find something interesting for. My logic with Lebanon was the Christian symbolism in a country more associated with Islam. Tbh there was way more extreme locations then the ones you got😅
10:35 it says buitepos, which means outpost in Afrikaans. The 'ui' is pronounced very differently and is like in Dutch which Afrikaans originates from.
Yeah, that one actually didn't feel remote at all. I visited much more remote places in the Southwest, even some fastfoods which required like 3+ miles of walking through complete wilderness. The U.S. are really not walking friendly.
Google Street View have photospheres in most countries, but not official content. When you make a geoguessr map it's up to you what content to put in. The official maps are of course official content only.
I think for the first time ever since doing your play alongs I actually got a higher score than you :) (on bathrooms of Europe). Though it seems like you didn't look at the trekker names, those were pretty big giveaways
The Dollar General map doesn't surprise me. The US has been at the forefront of putting stores in the worst places forever. Middle of the neighbourhood for pedestrians to comfortably reach? Nah. Let's build it in front of the city only reachable by car, so cars sell better. Then call car ownership freedom.
@@ChicagoGeographer I had the opportunity to get one back when Google started their Google Voice service but foolishly got another 847. I was born into the 414 and had it change to 920 while I was growing up, then had a 414 again for a while in Milwaukee, then 847 land line in Lake Zurich and 224 cell. Now I only have the 224 cell and 847 Google Voice.
Westernmost coverage in St Pierre and Miquelon. If you read the map description, I explain my criteria for whether to count territories separately. Of course the westernmost part of France is French Polynesia. Anyway I felt like counting the territories with the parent actually made the map include *more* inscrutable trekkers, not less. Also note that the locations are panned to face the extremity direction, which I guess CG didn't notice so he played on "hard mode" and still did really good! btw that max west Mongolia trekker was one of the the most surprising ones I found while making this, it really did not look like Mongolia to me at all.
it's a store that offers extremely low priced merchandise, like $1 items. and is infamous for it's dumpster doodoo level of treatment for its employees

14:58 - Great, now I have "773-202-LUNA" stuck in my head.
all according to plan
ohhhh i love viewers maps!!! Thanks everyone for submitting and CG for posting the videos!
5:48 Bangkok is in fact the only Thai city with over a million inhabitants. Chiang Mai only has 200k.
thanks for playing my map!!
Love the user-submitted maps, my favorite content together with the hugequiz stuff
I was starvin like Marvin for another CG video!

Me: can we have Terminus?
Mom: we have Terminus at home
Terminus at home: 3:50
The anomaly in Lebanon was that it was Christian rather than Muslim stuff.

@@MichaelKing-qe6uqThere is better rounds that those but I did kinda rush it
@@Bre12_from my understanding its an anomaly for an average person who thinks the Middle East is all Muslim.
This was fun, more of this please.

6:42 The Springfield Plain in SW Missouri is always really hard to differentiate from Northern Missouri for some reason.
bathroom series too goated
These maps are always so much fun to play
Chicago area code as a score is funny asl
I feel like the location with the mcdonalds nearby should be disqualified XD

Is a viewer map just photospheres that people take which is why there’s countries on here that don’t have street view coverage

Could've scored double the points on the bathroom map if you looked at the names
13:35 lol I’ve never thought about that, but as an european I can confirm that’s so true🤣

312 is the OG Chicago area code.
indeed it is, my cell is a 312 number

Your Dollar General store. Conveniently located in the heart of Nowhere. 😀
maybe the Lebanon location was "uncharacteristic" because christianity is a minority religion there
Map maker here, thats bang on
bro is scared to get to Quebec speedrun i see

your thrumnails.
I assume the weirdness in Lebanon was the Christian church in a predominantly Muslim country?
