- Revv Generator MKIII vs Engl Savage MK2
Can you boost your amp with a cab?!
Does the Revv have enough gain?
The Gear Page SUCKS!

Jarrod, don't let people get on your nerves. I discovered your channel something like a year ago, and you have quickly become one of my favourites. Tone Wars and Kyle Bull are the only two channels I will immediately click on whenever I see you uploaded anything. And not because you are demoing something I'm interested in or because your playing (which is far better than mine), but because of your honesty and great, wholesome personality. Thank you!
Wow thank you so much for the kind words. Made my day!
BECAUSE of the "Strange and low Sub" comment, this 61-year-old guitarist that's been playing since I was 8 years old........just subscribed! From one strange guitarist to another............great work.........and keep the amp reviews coming.
Awesome! Thanks so much!
Cool
People suck. They’ll always disappoint. I think you’re the best gear review, personality, straight forward unfiltered feed back & knowledge that is most appreciated. Playing is impressive. It takes a lot of continuous playing to play as tight as you do. You keep kicking ass brother considering the time you make to share with us considering the rest of life we are busy keeping up with. lol.
Thank you so much!!
Dude u have one of the best channels iam 62 and I have seen almost all the others there r a few that I like but just a few.First of all being real counts man u are In Depth with u videos..Appreciate u man..🎸👍
Thank you so much!!
Most thorough, honest, reviews and content creator out there. Full stop. Thank you, Jarrod.
Thank you!
Been enjoying your channel and consistency in how you demo and test for around a year now. Fuck the haters, you’re adding great informative content that’s enjoyable for a lot of people.
Don’t let the trolls bother you brother, most of that static is either envy or ignorance. Keep the excellent content coming!🤘🏻😎🤘🏻
You’re great, man. And your playing is amazing.
Thank you so much!
Keep up the great work, great videos!
Will do thank you
I agree!!! 😊
I think some of the argument of "tight" guitar tone may come from people having different definitions of what that means. To me tight means slightly shaved off low end and pronounced upper mids. This gives the guitar the feel of being more immediate. I have always thought this could be achieved with an EQ pedal, a boost pedal or even a smaller cabinet with less resonance. For instance my Dual rectifier is very low end saturated and with a boost it shaves that off and gives some mids back. Anyways just rambling but the words we use , tight, smooth, chewy, texture, liquid, crunchy are all a bit subjective. I always feel like play what works for you.
The gymnastics and thin ice analogy is spot-on perfect!
Awesome job Jarrod love watching your channel. Trolls are non-open minded idiots. They need to broaden their horizons and try something different. I think your right about boosting the amps . Keep up the good work man!
Generally when people lash out they feel threatened in some way - they may not even be aware of their actions - as artists we are all different (which is a good thing) we can all learn from each other and get better and hopefully inspire someone in our journey to grow & learn also - Thanks Jarrod for all your hard work & passion and awesome content you share with us all keep up the good work!
Hello Jarrod! I'm new to your channel. Your vast catalog of amp critiques (with side-by-side comparisons) are the best I've experienced to this point. I've been in the music business for 40 years, and playing guitar 50 years. To that end, I greatly appreciate your time and effort bringing them to us. Keep up the superb work and farq all the haters, brother!
Wow thank you so much for commenting and for the kind words. Made my day!!!
Excellent Video Jarrod, Good information as always. Keep up the great content we appreciate it! These are some of my favorite videos from you. Hit that thumbs up button people!
Thank you!!!
Keep up the good work man. It takes quite some dedication and hard work to be consistently putting out videos like you do. That solo section at the end was fire, would love to see you play more leads in future videos. 😃🤘
Thank you so much for the kind words! More solos are coming
Wowzers! That Savage MkII is a monster! I have an Invader 100 and I think that Savage would kill it. Great vids and channel Jarrod, keep the great stuff coming!!!
Thank you. Oh yeah the Savage is a beast! I also really like the Invader
yessir thanks Jarrod for the feedback. I expressed myself poorly in my question in fact I had several amps that I had to boost for several reasons. diezel d moll, mesa rectifier, engl powerball 2. I opted for amps with maximum saturation and maximum tightness on which I can adjust as needed. the revv sounds incredibly good without boost and I will not be forced to disengage a boost pedal when I go clean and with the aggression levels it lacks nothing it will be in my choices. As for the cab I don't know who made this remark to you but with your 2x12 mesa in v30 you are in the kingdom of tightness 😅
Hey Jarrod. Question(s) for the next R&R video. I am about to pull the trigger on the KHE Amp switcher. I am looking at the ACS 8×4 Amp/Cabnet switcher. My question is, are you also using the AFX 8 - FX-Loop Switcher to be able to put your effects in the loop of whatever amp you choose? My only concern is that it says on the website that the AFX 8 is for Mono effects? Is this how you are setup? Would you mind showing your pedalboard and how you have it setup with the switcher for pre and post effects?
Thanks brotha. As an update, I did follow your advise on the In Ears that you recommended and after the initial rehearsal, I cannot believe how much I can now hear and how great it sounds. Thanks a TON for the advise 🙂
So good to hear! I'm glad you're enjoying the new in-ear monitors.
To your question, I am using the effects loop switcher as well and it works perfectly.
Unfortunately I can't do a video about all of that because of the way everything is hooked up and backed against the wall.
I would have to literally dismantle a shelf and pull it from the wall to show anything that's behind there.
Marcus is a great guy and very helpful, I'm sure if you reach out to him, he can help you with any of the technical questions that you may have.
Honestly, it was very easy to set everything up and plug everything in
@@TONEWARSgearshow Thank you for the response. It helps in making the decision to make the purchase 🙂
Wow just started and Badcat lynx and JCM800 X Grats Jarrod have fun and know we will checking them out with you! PS I have a Fractal FM9 Incoming yep pulled the fractal :) I want to tweak it and go that route !:)
Thank you for commenting. Congratulations on the FM9!! I hope you enjoy it! I've heard good things about those units
what up Jarrod let the haters hate brother love your channel
My biggest problem is with how a lot of these "amps" are designed and constructed. And "where" they are mass-produced. And the outrageous pricetags on them. Very hard to find a decent value in this market today. At the beginning of this video... did I hear you say you had a BADCAT LYNX ?!?!? Oooooooh... 😆🥳
Sorry for the late reply, I totally understand where you're coming from. It's nice to know that Bad Cat is American made and very affordable.
That Lynx is an awesome amp too
@@TONEWARSgearshow You did a great job with your Lynx demo video. The amp sounded killer. I think you need to add it to your collection. Like you said, it doesn't sound like other amps. It has it's own unique tone.
@@TheCyberMantis thank you. I made a place for it on my shelf last night.
@@TONEWARSgearshow Very cool! Congratulations. I'm glad you decided to keep it.
Not going to argue about the strange part 😂 well except for subscribers I think 10k plus is pretty damn good.
Haha thank you!
@TONEWARS Jarrod have you done an Fulltone OCD vs Warm Audio ODD pedal video?
I haven't yet, but if I get my hands on one I will
I have the revv 100p mk3 head and run it through the revv cabinet 4 x12 12" Celestion Vintage 30 & G12H75 Creambacks love the sound clean all the way to high gain .
What setting do you have the Savage set at? I have a savage 60 MKII with a Mesa 2-12 cab and yours sounds absolutely amazing!
Settings.....your bass, mids, treble and presence
@@constrictedandaddicted What's your email address? I can email you a picture
I have had the Mesa and the Engl cab. Engl all day!
High gain amps always benefit from a boost! Always!
Damn Jared... HOW THE HELL DO YOU GET THE SAVAGE SO DIALED IN MAN? I swear on my 🥜 suck that amp tortured me for days trying to get it dialed in. I love my Fireball because it's just a deathcore drop-tuned MONSTER and that's all it does, and all I need it to do. I had a Savage briefly and got rid of it because I simply couldn't get it to outperform my Fireball. The Savage seemed to a bit flubby with less articulation once you get down into the Drop B, B Standard, or Drop A tunings when compared to my Fireball, and trust me... I'M NO BOOST KAREN! Lastly, I love you addressing these complainers and backseat drivers hahaha. You know the vast majority (I'd venture to say at least 90% of us) come to the channel to hear you shred. I literally take a piss break on live streams when you do cleans lol. Don't get me wrong dude, they sound "pretty" but we come to hear BOOSTED metal F'n shredding 🤘
could u ever do a video on your impulse response pack
Well, answered CommentT’s bring up another question. I’m sure you have already said this over and over but what boosts pedal you like?
I really like the odd box, mud killer, grid slammer & KSR Eros
I love you man but we gotta get you some better lighting and focal length. Get a couple Nanlites. Keep the awesome content coming. I’ve bought about 3 heads and the Mud killer because of you lol.
I'm working on some new lights in the near future.
My budget has been pretty tight this year because my business is very slow compared to prior years.
I've already invested way too much money into this channel, a little support definitely goes a long way
@@TONEWARSgearshow I’d love to give you more support but you’re so damn good at what you do I keep buying more stuff hahaha. I’m always willing to help though and probably not to far from you. I will say everything I buy I tell the companies about your reviews.
@@0311campbelljk Thank you for the kind words, much appreciated
Music and art are probably the only disciplines and classes in school which can not be truly graded.
No matter who you are- You can't please everyone.
Ok Ok so your using the ODD box as your boosts. Just a thought? If this is the case, the case that you use the ODD box then that’s is an overdrive pedal somewhat a remake of the Fulltone OCD. Right? So even with the drive turned off or on 0, there’s still gain added. I use my Kingtone Duellist this way. Blessings to ya.
Revv Gen III needs more gain, so additional channel 5 is required with a switch with four agression channels, all four should be red, just a different variation of red color. 😅
nice playlist.
For the guy that said that Mesa cabs sounds dull.I disagree a bit.
Okay a Mesa sounds a bit darker on the top end and more compact in the mids and very fat in the low end.ENGL sounds a bit more „wider“ a in the midrange frequency’s and bit more bite in the top end but a Mesa cab sounds not dull. The Mesa cabs I heard and played were brute punchy-low end monsters.I have played a Mesa 4x12 from 2003 and I feared that this cab put want to out my pants.Same goes for the ENGL (especially the Pro-cabs) but in a different way. Both are realy good cabs and they are just different beasts and no of this cabs sounds dull.I think that the cab he heared had no „speaker break up“.A total new cab lacks often a few frequency’s because the speaker aren‘t been played sufficiently.A sufficient played speaker sounds way more better than a brand new speaker. And there are more sources that can influence the sound(Single coils or Humbuckers, active or passive, low, medium or high output etc…)for example:a low 9V block in a active pickup sounds terrible im each cab- no mattter wich brand…
Man your Revv and Engl Savage Sounds so good. Have to stop commenting now or i'll respond 1 million times *Austin Powers*
You are just different!Bro. when you change the tubes in the Revv from 6L6 to KT66 it makes a differance bro.
You need to llearn how to play Jazz and spend more time on the clean channel and rename your channel... clean wars, I mean, you already own a pressure washing business , why not translate those high pressure cleans to your guitar playing?
Haha great idea 💡
I like the ENGL better
27.23 👏
I thought there was quite alot of difference between the cabs sitting here. Maybe in the room is completely different 🤔 thanks for the vids Jarrod
