  • borrowed a loading chute and ended up buying it and rebuilding it to make it stronger. We rebuilt this ramp to last and not have to worry about safety issues with loading cattle. The floor is Treated wood and double thick totaling 3"

We have one that's basically the same as your we reworked 2 years ago. Floor was rotten. Like you we added more crossbraces for the ramp floor and put sheet metal on sides. The floor is 9/4 saw oak treated with boiled linseed oil.

That's a nice looking chute, mine is all wood and should have been retired years ago. I need to build a new one.

Nice Jesse. You did everything I would have done. In fact when you were pulling the old boards out I thought, man I’d weld in some cross slats under that floor and replace that roofing tin with sheet metal! Which of course is exactly what you did. How hard is it to adjust the height? Or go from “work mode” to “road mode”? I’ve been wanting to build one of these for awhile

Farmer Tyler Ranch great minds think alike! On this chute the height only has one setting. Either down or up. Right now when it’s up it’s sitting at 46”. All you do it unhook from pickup and lift up it will balance, drop the stands put the pin in. Pull the pin for the hitch and the hitch drops to the ground. The cows leave in 2 weeks and I will get some video of how it sets up!

I think I would put a piece of pipe on each side of the entrance to prevent the cattle from possibly hurting themselves on the raw edge of the steel plate
