There are many reasons why beta-glucan is far superior to hyaluronic acid in skincare
We know that hyaluronic acid is a powerful humectant that locks in moisture and prevents moisture loss.
Beta glucan does the same but is 20 times stronger than hyaluronic acid.
Beta glucan, commonly known as beta glucans are polysaccharides that are essentially multiple sugars, starch and cellulose linked together.
They are found in yeast, bacteria, fungi, algae and grains such as oats and can therefore be safely applied to the skin depending on their formulation.
Apart from its excellent moisturising properties, this amazing ingredient helps reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, redness and irritation.
Since hyaluronic acid is a water-retaining component, not a water-forming one, it cannot penetrate deep into the dermis unless it is injected.
When using hyaluronic acid, you may find that in dry climates with low water content in the atmosphere, the skin can actually feel dry.
Beta-glucan provides 20% more moisture than hyaluronic acid at the same concentration.
Beta-glucan is a powerful humectant and not only intensively moisturises the skin, but also helps prevent moisture loss!
Unlike hyaluronic acid, beta-glucan forms a thin film on the skin when applied, locking in moisture. After it penetrates deep into the skin, it holds onto the water, and hydrates from the inside out. It can penetrate the epidermis and dermis and balance the skin from the inside out.
Beta-glucan is suitable for all skin types, including acne-prone skin, due to its bacteria-fighting properties.
It is also fragrance and dye free, making it a real favourite with both men and women.
Beta-glucan can increase collagen synthesis by up to 32%, reducing wrinkle depth and softening fine lines.
Beta-glucan is a plant fibre-based product that is an emulsifier and a thickener, easy to use and completely natural.
A particular advantage of beta-glucan is that it can be processed both hot and cold.
Another advantage is its compatibility with other ingredients used in cosmetics, such as vegetable oils, silicone oils, esters, electrolytes, UV filters and other active ingredients.
Furthermore, beta-glucan can be used in a pH spectrum of 4 - 9 and thus completely covers the pH range used in cosmetics.
The fine, white and odourless powder can be dissolved in the water phase as well as dispersed in the fat phase.
It is a hydrating agent
Can strengthen the skin barrier, smoothes the skin, is an antioxidant
Can be used on all skin types
Can be used as often as desired.

I substituded niacinamide with 5 grams of panthenol powder and used distilled water and used .30 gr. of essential oil. I was also so careful with measurements. It came out a bit liquidy, more like emulsion. Do you know what might have gone wrong and what can I do to make it thicker in consistency? Thank you☺️

One Correction : Allantoin is used to reduce inflammation and not regenerate cells, also, always add Allantoin to a heated water medium of around 50°C and used a glycol or glycerine to bind to it or else it precipitates.
Apart from that, adding Co-Q-10, Green Tea, Bakuchiol, actually can make your serum really effective, maybe more than 50 times more effective than Hyaluronic Acid serums. Thanks for the amazing tutorial. Blessings from India 🇮🇳

I use allantoin in cold water formulations and it dissolves without trouble, never had trouble dissolving allantoin that heat have to used to dissolve it but thanks for the info

Hi. I liked your video. I really appreciate that u share your knowledge like beta-glucan as I never knew about it. If I'm not wring pH for face is 5 - 5.5 but u showed & said that 6pH is perfect. Can I ask why?
Because she used niacinamide, which works best in a pH of 6, anything higher or lower causes irritation

I get that this formula isn't an emulsified one, but what would happen if an emulsifier was added and the oil phase heated a bit then use an emersion blender to unify the mix? Would it still be as enriched as when no emulsifier is used?

Great video, try polyglutamic acid. It’s great, very similar in structure to ha however more moisturizing than Hyaluronic acid. It’s definitely a excellent ingredient.

Thank you for your comment. As beta glucan is an emulsifier that can be used in cold and hot process formulations, but at the same time, it acts as a moisturiser, which works way better than hyaluronic acid..
