My parents have a few bigger tropical plants and they like to decorate them too. It's super silly and cute! They mostly put small christmas gnomes sitting on the leafs or in the pots 😂❤️
I think the issue you're having (with the tree and maybe the garland) with decorations not looking right has to do with scale. In your new house you're going to need larger/more decorations to fit the larger space. It'll also take couple years to figure out how your space likes to be decorated. :) Happy holidays!
We’re military and move ever so often and I can’t tell you how many decorations we have that we use and then don’t and then buy and then don’t… it’s the never ending organizing and redecorating every year.
Command hooks Lucy lol... if you don't want holes in walls/cupboards, command hooks are amazing. I used them all through college until I rented my first home. Happy Christmas! I'm enjoying the Christmas season videos.
You can sew vintage style ornaments! Perfect content for your channel. I still use ornaments that my grandmother sewed in the 1950s. They have such a cute vintage vibe. I believe they are that felt-style. She also made ball ornaments out of foam balls with pins stuck through ribbon and sequins. That was also a popular style in the 50s. You can search images online. I think you can still get vintage patterns or PDFs of vintage ornaments.
Looks great Lucy! I've been known to put wired ribbon bows in my tropical plants (big philodendrons, monsteras, large alocasias, etc) to tie them in to the season 😊 My colour scheme is much like your hallway, greens, blues, white and silver. They're my favourite colours and to me feel very festive, even if not the traditional reds, greens and gold. Moral of the story, do whatever makes you smile... And sometimes, a bit of kitsch, like your blow-up reindeer, is just what you need!
Watching these in late June when it's about to be 87 degrees outside (30 Celsius) and it is just the cozy, lovely vibe I need. Going through a rough time and these are such a nice escape. Also giving me ideas for later in the year. 🙂
Aw, Christmas tree decorations... Over the past nearly 4 decades, I've had a pink tree, a red tree, a straw decorations tree, glass ornaments, pale blue and white, back to red/green/gold, green/brown/beige... and then we found boxes of antique ornaments, 70-100 yrs old, in my in-laws' cellar (my MIL only had elegant big glass handmade orbs on her tree as long as I knew her...!).... Since then, I have passed on or given away all the previous "ordinary" ornaments and our tree is colourful and eclectic with the antique ornaments of all different colours and conditions as well as a few personalised and gifted trinkets we've collected over the years and we've never been happier than when it's all set up and we see the grandchildrens' faces light up
I feel the same about cool toned Christmas tree lights. I had to buy new cluster lights this year and their ice cold white is not doing it for me. So I have sneakily ordered a new lot in warm white. I don't think Himself will notice.....hee. And over time as you collect decorations for your bigger tree it will grow more magnificent every year. Mine is covered in little things my son made in school when he was little and gift decorations from friends over the years.
You can always nest a small string of lights at the base of the plant to make it look festive. I just sit it right on top of the soil and when lit up it looks very pretty!
I personally like to decorate my tropical plants. I put some small christmas balls on those that have branches and little birds like the ones that you have on others. I think it looks cute a pull everything together ^^. By the way, everything looks adorable!! I love it
My father in law has won his community Christmas house decoration contest for the last few years. So when you said it was a bit much it made me giggle.
Don't feel forced to buy ornaments for the Christmas Tree. Those come with time. Beautiful work. All the very best of the season to you and yours. - Cathy (&, accidently, Steve), Ottawa/Bytown/Pimisi
Every year around this time when I see everyone's beautiful aesthetic decor I almost wish my house wasn't an animal haven.. but I can't put my tree up until.. like the week of otherwise the cats destroy it 🤣🎄😁
I adore those little birds! My favorite baubles on our tree are gold and shaped like deer antlers; they add such a fun bit of color and an interesting texture. Our tree is red and gold, with warm white lights, golden round ordainments, gold glittery snowflakes, and the golden deer antlers, and realistic looking faux apples, pomegranates, and red-twine tied straw yule bucks.
The tree turned out beautifully. I agree about adding lights to plant pots. You can get tiny lights now that would be perfect. At senior nutrition where I used to work. The was a big plant near the front windows. It was decorated with beads and tiny decorations and really looked cute. Along with a bigger tree with decorations made by the seniors over the years. Your home looks festive and lovely.😊 I have a 4 foot white tree that is decorated with mostly blue and silver, white lights and touches of tiny colorful bulbs, and some treasured oraments. I also collect snowmen and last year found the cutest teddy bears in sparkly red and green to set on a shelf. My son hates all the glitter, but I love it and it's only for christmas. My youtube gals have given me much needed help this year with finding my Christmas spirit. Thank you Lovely...😊💖🎄🎁🎉
those first pictures from the garden center looks like the one I visited like 1.5 week ago. My bf lives in netherlands so allways go there each year and love them
Looks beautiful! If you wanted to sneak a bit of red into the tree, maybe consider some artificial holly berry sprigs. They make them with and without leaves, with long stems so you can nestle them into the tree.
If you were worried about nailing into the cabinets you could always get command hooks, for something as light as a garland I'm sure they're more than adequate.
Everything looks perfect. I really love all the little touches such as the bottle brush trees in the basket in your studio and especially the red plaid dress on your dress form. It will be fun to add a few new ornaments to your new tree every year. So many new memories to make and cherish in your new home.❤
I do almost all gold with some burgundy. I find this helps a lot. Have a variety of textures. Shiny glass, glittery, satin texture, the each old those with designs on them. Then I sort them by size and then add them by size largest first.
My house has a beach / sea theme, sometimes it looks strange but hey, tropcial countries celebrate it too right. ;) Some things I change out for the witner stuff and later I change it back and some things I just work with / around.
Your new house looks so cozy and even more so with the Christmas Decoration! My living room is so packed with shelves of books, figurines, LPs and other stuff that I don't like decorating for different seasons that much. But I change up my windowsill for Advent season. I have some nice figurines with light in it on a red christmassy fabric. On the table is an advent wreath with big red candles (that's a German thing) and I also will get a nice little tree next week with a red balls and stars and just a little bit of gold ornament.
I've hung some really light weight ornaments and some garland around my mismatched indoor plants to make them more Christmasy lol they end up super cute
Yes! More ornaments in different shapes and textures, round, drop, large, small, smooth, and glitter. My decor is dif shades of gray, white & pink, and the sofa is charcoal gray, the oriental rugs are in those colors, but also have a bit of a blue/gray. I cannot do the traditional color. This year I went heavier on shades of pink, along with silver, white, and clear. I found dark these dusty pink peonies with a touch of gold glitter, just a touch, and shoved them in around the tree...turned out gorgeous. It sounds hideous, but the tree really is pretty. I say go for it! xoxo's Sandie
Have you ever used dried orange slices? They look great as ornaments on the tree and would help add some colour and interest. I also made some garlands with orange slices and dollar store mini pinecones which looked so cute. I love the way the orange looks with my green wall (I have a very similar decor style).
I absolutely love your Christmas decorations! Your tree is gorgeous. I really like those warm lights. I’ve never seen a garland of lights like that in Australia - we generally only have a long single strand of lights that we weave/ wrap in and around the tree which can take a really long time. My tree is decorated with a mix of wooden, woodsy, ornate traditional, handmade style and forest animal ornaments. The overall look is actually lovely, even though it probably sounds ridiculous. Each year we get something special to add and honestly it feels like a bit of a Christmas wonderland you get lost in when looking at it. 🎄🍄🐿
My husband and I have our place decorated quite minimally this year, but I’m proudest of how the tree turned out! I put on some more sentimental ornaments, glittery snow pine cones, lights (warm white) and some rose gold bejewelled snowflakes and then some of the more traditional glass ornaments 🌲🤍
As a temporary measure you could make a load of salt dough ornaments for this year. Papier-mâché is also good for covering small balloons to make ornaments. And then you have time to find interesting ones over the years.
Yes just embrace the plants mixing!😆 mine do plus the ones that come in from outside that I want to replant in spring. Love the bench and chairs💜. All from ikea? Great video!!!
I usually ignore the mis-match of Christmas evergreen decor with leave plants. But I also don't usually add garlands, etc right next to my ferns/real plants. I was thinking about adding some ornaments to one of my fake plants this year (kind of like Charlie brown christmas) . Idk, that might be an option :)
I can't believe all the beautiful ornaments you can buy there... Are they too expensive??? They'd cost SO MUCH here. I live decorating for Christmas but I had to make my own wreaths and all... Garlands like that or a big tree would cost like two salaries haha
The really nice ornaments were around €2,50 to €4,50 I believe? Not too expensive in any case! The garlands were a bit pricier at €25 a piece, but still nothing crazy. I intend to keep them for a looong time 😁 We got the tree at a discount as it was the floor model, that one was surprisingly affordable too.
Tropical plants look misplaced next to Christmas decorations???? Really?! So my entire region where I live (Florida in the South of the USA) is invalid. No! That's silly! Christmas goes wonderfully next to anything green! Green is a seasonal color. Decorate those tropical plants. LOL 🌴🎄🌴
My parents have a few bigger tropical plants and they like to decorate them too. It's super silly and cute! They mostly put small christmas gnomes sitting on the leafs or in the pots 😂❤️
Hahaha love it!

Ahh, I’ll live vicariously through this. With a cat and a 1 year old, our decorations will be light this year.
The new ornaments really transformed the tree! It looks stunning. I love your christmasy cozy sewing room and the sweet gnomes in the entryway!
The amount of thought and skill in the way you video makes my heart so happy:) you are so calming and remind me to be happy at the little things
Thank you so much! ❤️
5:53 i deeply appreciate this little editing sequence ♡ sometimes the music just begs it

Glad you have 2 christmas tree's, the gold one is nice but I like the little one more... 🌌 Happy holidays! 💞 🎅 🎄

Gorgeous Lucy….and yes…the tree just needed more ornaments and different shapes…it looks fabulous…🥰🇦🇺
Lovely! We live in Canada and leave our living plants where they are, and simply bring Christmas in:).🎄☃️🇨🇦❄️

My mom always tied little red bows on her plants for Christmas! Little twinkle lights would also work

Your first Christmas in your new home. 🎄🎄🎄🎄

Your china cabinet is still stunning. :) It's the perfect color. Great job with all the Christmas decorations!
I love the tree! You made the right choice with those new ornaments..

The window stencils are so beautiful! Been watching for years and so happy to follow along with you this Christmas in your new home!
I have big bows that I put in/on the pots for my plants, so festive!

I love the Christmas content!! It’s always my favorite thing to watch this time of year because it’s so cozy and wonderful :)
What about petrol and sage colors to go with the gold for the tree?
So beautiful!❤ makes me already want to go back to Christmas already!
perfect video to start my morning! I discovered your channel about a month ago and I love every video I’ve watched
Yay! Thank you so much!
maybe like a sage green or blue on the tree in the living area would look nice.
My house has a beach / sea theme, sometimes it looks strange but hey, tropcial countries celebrate it too right. ;)
Some things I change out for the witner stuff and later I change it back and some things I just work with / around.
Lovely looks like something you’d see in a magazine. Very cozy.
I love how everything turned out. It looks so cozy and festive. 💕
Have you ever been to Eurofleur? It's a garden center in Leusden, near Amersfoort, and they have a gorgeous christmas display every year ^_^

So beautiful and that raindeer is very cute, i was hoping you will do Vlogmas this year it was always so homely and comforting to watch
When you said 'large reindeer' I was thinking of the blowup lawn ornaments here in the US that are half as tall as a house 😅
Also coming back after you’ve done decorating here: I LOVE how your space turned out!! Beautiful! 🤍
It turned out beautiful and festive!

Very beautiful deocrating, Merry Christmas!
i enjoyed the home tour 💕💕✨✨
I live in Florida and have lots of tropical plants indoors and out. Embrace it! You can put some ornaments on them or figurines in the soil ❤
Oh good, I'm glad you went for lights. I'm a nut for a lot of tiny lights. Very beautiful! Hope you and yours have a wonderful Christmas.
Beautiful!

Omg yes! Can't wait to watch! I look forward to all your Christmas content... it puts me in the spirit!
🥰
Your little fireplace in the bookshelves is so sweet ! I wonder where to find one in the US?🌷
Beautiful Christmas decorations throughout your home💛❤️💚🤍Your lights are really pretty!!! What kind do you have🌟🌟🌟🌟
You mean the ones in the tree? Those are cluster lights!
please make a video to talk about your plants and how do you care of them. I had alocasia zebrina and she died on me I'm so sad
Beautiful!!!!!
Yessss
What are those interesting looking rolled up tube snacks you added to your cake stand? I like learning about other countries festive food 😊
It's fruit leather! 😄
I was wondering about the snacks too!
I can't believe all the beautiful ornaments you can buy there... Are they too expensive??? They'd cost SO MUCH here. I live decorating for Christmas but I had to make my own wreaths and all... Garlands like that or a big tree would cost like two salaries haha

Oh yeah, I rehome all my tropical plants to one room (upstairs) for xmas and then apologise profusely to them about it all January... haha
Lovely!
Where did you get your electric fireplace from? It looks lovely
I found it at our local garden center 😊
Beutiful
Can you do Nina sayers in the movie black swan?
You could just st add some candy canes to the tree?
Het eten op de etagére was nep toch of zag ik dat verkeerd? [Wist het Engelse woord niet meer voor zo'n ding.]
Nee hoor, allemaal echt! :)
