- Day 6: Pescadero to Pacifica with a stop in Half Moon Bay to have van alternator belt replaced after having replaced with wrong size belt. Squealing noise that was getting worse. Thanks to Main St Auto Service in Moss Beach, Ca a quick fix and excellent service. Saw a dog walker with at least 10 dogs! No leashes (being held) all in a SUV, a short talk with her “been doing this for 2yrs with these dogs”

I'm a Widower, fresh out of Eastern NC. recently left my daughter, all growed up.😊 So To be here in WI. To help out my widowed Mom. I thought about "Van life" myself. Maybe a retired Transit van. Or a decent Dodge mini! You are a trooper G!! Hang in there, maybe well' cross paths one day.

Its really sad that your Daughter and her husband would not let you share a home with them..Im so sorry this happend to you. But Im soooo happy you got your van fixed! California i hear is very expensive compared to other parts of our country, It is beautiful with beaches and the redwood trees etc...Just be careful out there! A lot of nomads talk about it being hard to stealth camp in CA, but it seems like you've got it figured out. 😊
It tends to vary from city to city, town to town. But for the most part California isn't nearly as bad as most believe it is.
IOverlander has been great, but occasionally I just park where there are apartments. I think being off season has helped. I like staying in town due to cell service 🤷♀️

I live by the sea on the East Coast in the UK, trust me its not as pretty as Half Moon Bay which clearly looks delightful. I'm still catching up on your videos and the title 'Pescadero to Pacifica' makes me think it would be a great album title for some artist or other. Hope you have many more such beautiful days.

Just an alternative idea. Back in 2000 my X and I bought an old RV and traveled through Mexico for a year. Best time in our lives. Met a retired expat in Lake Patzcuaro, who lived there in the highlands in a campground next to a beautiful lake during the summer and during the winter he moved down to the coast to Zihuatanejo. Better weather in both places. I’m now an US expat living in Ecuador for the past 15 years. Looking at your videos and the hassles you experience and the cost of day to day living in the US and Canada I would suggest taking a look at Mexico. Tons of expat videos on the subject. Better food, sooo much cheaper, nicer people, (Mexican and Nortinos), wonderful day to day experiences, Spanish is pretty easy to be competent, and no dodging the police. Life is simple, cheaper by a long shot, and so much more gratifying. I’m from California and have been so lucky to have chosen an alternative life in my retirement years. Think about it. In a few days you could be sitting on a beautiful beach, eating great food, and enjoying the comradely of like minded North Americans instead of a parking lot next to a bunch of work trucks and looking over your shoulder for the cops. The one restaurant in town isn’t even open? Life is better south.

I lived in CA for 29 years. 2 of them in Pacifica. I loved Pacifica. I miss it everyday. I went to Texas and then here in WA State. I know exactly where you went!!!
PG&E is Pacific Gas & Electric. They either are getting ready for a big storm or are just finishing up after a big storm. If it's the former be careful out there, there has been a lot of flooding, electric lines have been coming down and mudslides. May God bless you with safe travels 🙏

Have you considered housesitting? It is an interesting way to see plces, travel, and be comfortable. You could register with am "agency", build a profile, develope references and see what opportunities become available. Some are short term, others are longer.

oh thats my home area of the coastside, Half Moon Bay. Theres lots to do there, dont miss the Redwoods in the back of there at Memorial Park and up on Hwy 35. Also the John Fitzgerald Marine Reserve Tidepools in Moss Beach and so many other things to do!! Made me homesick. Im suprised the cops didnt bug you, they are usually kind of active around Half Moon Bay/Pacifica Area. You got lucky!

I've ridden up and down that stretch of coast on a motorcycle many times. I think we locals take it for granted but seeing it through new eyes reminds us of how beautiful the coast is.
Those dogs should have been leashed on the beach. There's a famous 'dog beach' further south, near Santa Cruz.
