How was is jaundice level? I remember my first born left the hospital with jaundice at 15 and two days later that night his jaundice level was at 19 and he had infection so I rushed him to the hospital because he would not want to eat he would be sleeping a lot and they said that if I didn’t bring him in that he would have brain damage and other stuff so I’m so thankful that I brought him and he is now three years old healthy as you can ever be

If she does gets one please dont let her kiss the baby at all! Or any family or friend for that matter if they get cold sores. make sure she washes her hand's all the time if she has a cold sore, before touching bubba or his bottles etc... Cold sores are extremely dangerous to a baby, especially under 6 months old as they have NO immune system.. just wanted to pass on that information as some people dont realise (incase you didnt) its important to know. I was the first time Mom and I did not know what jaundice was very severe and I will always been scared with my second child when I gave birth to her but they’re both so healthy and strong and eat so well that I’m very grateful that I have healthy children because I know there’s many kids out there that Had jaundice that went through a lot and have brain damage from it
My third had what was called red jaundice, it's very rare so instead of being yellow, they are very red or you could say more like a dark pink to be exact and he was covered in it. Never heard of it before till my boy had it after birth either. But it was nothing a bit of sunlight couldn't fix.
Newborns usually have jaundice around 2 to 4 days of life. It can get critically severe as you said, but thankfully most cases resolve on their own without damage. Definitely something to ask your doctor about. I work in a Children's Hospital lab and call critical total bilirubin lab results all the time to the nurses/doctors for newborns.
