That oil pan is fully baffled and ready to be bung'd! Arc-style Grandmaster Vin with the ultra clean pro spec capacity addition, always a pleasure seeing a master join metal together! Another sweet video from Speed Academy, as usual!
I love mocking up the baffles over the engine with visible metal shavings on your glove. catastrophic engine failure due to debris from assembly is like your guys' signature move
This thing better be amazing on the track for all the fabrication work! Looks good, starting to come together, I keep scratching my head, but you'll get there I'm sure
I'm no expert but I wouldn't put the turbo drain plug on that side of the pill pan since that's the side with no trap doors on the baffles. It's just a straight baffle plate. It probably won't be really bad but you know, best practice stuff.
Instead of a bung you guys should put a threaded female port you can screw the bung into. If you happen to break the bung off or you do a different set up you just have to unscrew the fitting and put a new one in, instead of having to reweld that back on. 👍🏻 Cant wait to see it rippin at the track 🤘
I think one issue you might have is that the oil pan 'wings' are too tall. Being that they are taller than static oil level, under lateral G the oil will climb slosh up high in the wing and the wing will take up a significant amount of volume (more than it holds when static). My AE86 k24 swap is not yet done, but this was a consideration when I added my wings. I kept them about 6cm tall so that they should be full at all times with no air gap above and cannot accept more oil. Any slosh will just fill the main sump area more.
I use those instapak shipping bags to make a form for areas like that. It works well. Alternatively you could use that expanding foam in a garbage bag.
May want to knock the inside(mandrel) of the rivets with a small punch, although unlikely, you don't want them to vibrate their way loose into the oil pan.
That was my thought too. Add some pipes for sleeves, thru the add on sump. To get to the two pan bolts that are above the side sump. It looks like it's going to be a royal P.I.T.A. to get to those otherwise. If I'm having to do custom fab work on my vehicles I like to make things as easy to work on as possible. Why make life more difficult?
Damn, was hoping the oiling solution was going to be something anyone can do, no such luck, not all of us have a shop we can trust to do all of this modification of the oil pan nor afford it.
Should have left the pan small and added more capacity with a bigger cooler or another one. I don’t see that working well with a wing added to the high side of the motor
This episode is baffling!
Welding timelapse is incredibly satisfying to watch
it´s like a drug , can´t look away
he welds better than i write :)

i like the fact he was watchig the world cup in the back ground 😂😅
I am a simple man, I see Vinh weld, I click like.
So how are you going to tighten those oil pan bolts with the new section in the way
Always a good time when Vin is in the videos. Dudes welding is amazing!
flashbacks of the s2000 oil pan fiasco
oh boy did I miss the K-swap trap intro, nice to see the K240 back!
Vin is a badass I wish I had welding skills like that.
I admire Vins welding skill
Please show us when you put the bolts in under that added section of oil pan.
Vinh is an artist 😍
See Pete your buddy gets it.. small displacement engines go hand and hand with force induction. 4 cylinder + turbo = best smiles ever.

Is the first step to avoid oil starvation to not let Pete near the oil pan with RTV?

It took me forever waiting for this! I know it's all about baffling but ain't complaining here. Keep em videos coming! 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
seeing all the metal swarf on your gloves above an open engine made me want to cry haha
Always choose to watch ur stuff first on my list of notifications. Good job guys
Vins welding skills are bafflingly good,..........ooo, that's bad....:)
Buys expensive bolt in baffle instantly destroys it lol I like it
6:30 world cup fan right there!

THIS IS TRULY GENIUS
How much would it cost someone without connections to hire someone like vinh to do all that custom fab? Asking for a friend :)
I can't wait to see when it's boosted!!
Been waiting on a new video of this build!
In regards to the baffle, that is what orbital sanded aluminum looks like. It's a common finishing technique to cover up all the tooling marks.
anything worth building is worth over building! 💪

Vihn looks like the asian Cisco ramon from The Flash. Haha
Ready to see some tec ripped at the track!
is that Vin watching World Cup in the background? lol

Gotta add MOAR TRAP music to this series!
I’m having trouble finding the tractuff oil chain baffle, do they not make it anymore?
I still wish it was a VQ35HR, but I love the intro music cue
wooo they listened about the bung!!
I'm baffled as to why this car is not turbo'ed yet Peter! :)
Auto Cisco is back
K swap 240! Sick!
I'm surprised you didn't go to a dry sump configuration.
boosted boiz have a good video on rwd baffle system
Saying @6:26 mans was chilling and watching the game lmao.
How about adding access tubes through the extension to make installing and removing the paint easier?
I have certainly been baffled by this video
Did you make sure you are able to put the bolts in and have room. 🤔
For a drop-in part that took an awful lot of fab.
Dave is a living, breathing dad joke :)
So who will be faster, k swapped 240 or AP2BADASS2000?
Connie.
hi. I want put on k20a4 oil pump from k20a3 or A2. I have put on oil pump chain from k20a3 or A2. or I can use same chain from k20a4
It seems like you should've just built a custom baffle with how much you cut that one up
I foresee problems in the future...
you called that
Yeah, I want to see what happens when you try to bolt it all together
i see some World Cup action in the background, lol
Would you consider a k24 miata as a next project?
Realy nice!!
What's the music that's playing when he's welding?
Nice pans 👍
i dont wanna be a jynx but can you trust those hinges in the flaps of the baffle?
I’m baffled. Did they say future boost?
We're going boost next year.

Why not use dry sump oil pump?
Cost is WAY too much money for a build of this nature.
2:14 Time for a lawsuit! lol actually though there was one.
Why didn't you ad some pipe throught it to get an acess for the bolts ?
That was my thought too. Add some pipes for sleeves, thru the add on sump. To get to the two pan bolts that are above the side sump. Did i spot an E30 on the far left during the timelapse?
Damn, was hoping the oiling solution was going to be something anyone can do, no such luck, not all of us have a shop we can trust to do all of this modification of the oil pan nor afford it.

excellent.
Why not dry sump it for ease of install, upgrade, and maximum horsepower?
A drysump is the exact opposite of ease of install...
They've stated before they want to keep this a relatively cheap build. A dry sump system is huge money compared to this solution.
Why not use acusump system instead off all this extra work
That aluminum is called alclad thats why it looks like that.
Hi, would an accusump be a good choice for this kind of issue when converting fwd engine to rwd?
You can never go wrong with the accusump option. If these guys add accusump it’ll be even more reliable
Just found out vins a soccer fan
Yes!
K20 baffle
K24 steel pan?
Nice.
I got my trap doors from HomeDepot.
How old is vin??
How hard is it to get to the bolts under the side piece? Looks like it would be a bitch.
does the b16a have these oil issues?
What is paytreon?
Hey! Do you want to hear the worlds most annoying sound? Head over to 7:45 in the video, and let your ears bleed.
My teeth hurt.
Any details on the Evo 7?
Luke Kindred that's my car
You got me baffled...LOL
GO TURBO!!!!!!!
👌
Sooo.. i take it he didnt want his bung hole to be welded & capped off just yet?!
Don't put the return line below the oil line!
I feel like you do the K swap 240 Intro to annoy people lol
I like it!
Intro music into plz
....But you didn't show the "bung hole"....LOL
Please "ruin" it with a turbo, can you upload another video right now of the car being finished 😂
#SPEED ACADEMY
I would NEVER trust pop rivets in a sump, just asking for trouble.
Seems legit.
Eight hundred and FIRST!
