I took the L there. I remember Spencer Davis opened as a solo act, so I believe he may have the build as a band. The sound was absolutely terrible where I was standing. They were doing a lot of Cream and Mountain material, not yet their own material.
@@crosscatch I don't think so. The review from the Northwestern student newspaper referred to the Spencer Davis Group. He also cost the school twice the fee that Free was going to charge.
I saw West Bruce and Laing at McGaw Hall (Northwestern University) and when Jack Bruce opened with that riff, I was rivetted ....such a cool song.
Saw the same show at McGaw Hall. Absolutely fantastic!

@@crosscatch Spencer Davis was a last minute replacement for Free, who cancelled due to "illness".
@@gregoryvick330 I was aware of that. I wonder though, did they know they weren’t getting a band, but rather, a solo artist?

Always like hearing from the crowd! ..
The amount of energy and frequency bending, rib cracking power Bruce creates is unparalleled. Heard nothing like it.
Best version of this I've heard.
jack bruce
I laugh when I see lists of the best bassists and Jack doesn't have the top ten spots.
25-30 years ago, he would have. And, he’s saying great, regardless of how he was playing. He sounded like two separate people.
The record version ('Live and Kickin'') I have sez 10:48, and it sounds different, but I recognize parts ..
This is the full version- parts were cut out for its inclusion on Live n kickin
