And they’re even mastering the PACING. Some of that is writing some is editing some is showrunner. But pacing can be so hard. Just look at silo. Fantastic show in almost every way but they struggle with pacing. Severance is a level above

I love the way Apple is handling the media of this show! One of the problems I had with Season 1 was how limited the media around it was! So glad this years it's a giant step up. The show deserves all the praise it gets!!!
Yeah, the difference in hype is astounding. Back in 2022, Severance was just one of many Apple shows being dropped as disposable content. I stumbled on it by curiosity, willing to take a chance as I didn't see much fuss nor promotion beforehands. I was hooked by the second episode then that cliffhanger left me thirsty for more. Now in 2025, the hype pre-season premiere is way bigger because it has built a cult following ever since.

I think it could be that Helena, raised in such a cold world, wanted to feel the love and appreciation that Helly has and went there as Helena so she could experience it. Dan Erickson was talking that Helena is surprised that an innie, which she considered subhuman, lives a more rich and happy life than Helena.
@@lambtoon if you rewatch the ending, the elevator shot for Helena zooms in and it does not ding like it did for Mark, Dylan, and Irving...which is a dead giveaway that Helena's innie Helly R was not activated. Extremely subtle move to zoom inward so that the elevator ding light is hidden, and yet wants the audience to hear the ding not go off.

This show is so fantastic. So dense. Last week I thought Helena was on the severed floor due to malice, now I see it was frolic. This episode felt like it was 15 minutes long. I love these characters. Ricken is so funny it's killing me everytime he talks. Helena realizing her innie is more free and able to love like she never could. I believe this is an alternate timeline where the Confederates won the Civil War. I think Lumon HQ resides in a Confederate state that has embargoes against it. I think this is why the buildings and clothes have a Cold War, authoritarian feel. I could go on and on. Best show out. Nothing else comes close.

I think that in the past they tried to refine personalities with people that had no tie to the personalities. Mark W. said his group never refined anything 100%. So having some kind of connection seems to be important for proper refinement.
Until a character pulled out a cell I thought maybe it was in the 80s. It’s not just the cars, it’s the clothes, the computers. Heck they even still have phone booths too. I think the society there is far more different than people watching realize. The pretend dinner really stood out to me and I don’t think it’s just them being an artsy group.
It is quite a mix. Cars in the show seem to be 70s and 80s. Technology at Lumon looks retro. Cathode ray tubes. But in the homes of the outties, technology looks more modern. Some cell phones are not smart phones. Other cell phones look like early smartphones.

Its interesting because Helena is the one who's free on the outside as an outie but helly has this freedom with Mark that she never experienced, great writing, acting, directing. Quite possibly the best show of the 2020s

Cobel remains the creepiest and scariest character. Lumon is dangerous and monolithic and massive, but Harmony has no care for them. In fact, she seems to despise them. She is loyal to Kier and nothing else. And that's the most frightening thing of all.

In the first episode of season 2, Helly was seemed to be off-character compared to her season 1, she was much braver and bolder and she spoke out whatever she believed was truth but not this season 2 Helly, I thought it was because of Britt Lower's acting. I love the show but... He finds out in season 1 that Lumon is a shady company from Petey and Regabhi. His neighbor lied to him whole time and she wasn't independent business owner Ms. Selvig but his boss Ms. Cobel. His innie screamed for the entire house "She's alive!" with his wife's picture. And after all that he doesn't believe his sister. Really? He saw how Regabhi killed Lumon's employee for god sake. What supposed to happen for Mark to open his eyes?
He identified his wife's body. I think it's a tough ask to expect anyone to start accepting that someone they've presumed dead for years might actually be alive

In Cobel’s home in season one, there is a shrine of Kier. Amongst it is some photo of (most likely) Cobel as a child at Myrtle Eagan’s School for Girls. I don’t know if she been *with* the company, but she’s definitely grown up with so much influence of Lumon that she’s dedicated most of her life to it.
I would be unable to watch this because of the film technique, i.e., shooting through a filter that gives the visual image a drab, muddy color. Why this is so commonly over-used in an age of 4G, high-resolution TVs is a mystery to me. It's like watching a movie through a fish tank. I briefly subscribed to Apple TV but canceled when I saw that literally EVERY movie used this technique!

I love that s2e1 "innie" episode was very bright visually and this episode, the "outie" episode is very dark.
