Around 1:55 he talks about playing it "slowly". Umm... slower than he might normally play it but not what I would call slow. It is a nice tune but for an advanced player. I'm just beginning to learn how to play after a long time away from a guitar.

The problem is that most of Purple Haze was improvised, so it would be difficult for Tommy to analyse! As long as you can play the main riffs, the rest is up to you :) TE Admin

hey, been to your shows a few time and last time in Belfast (a good few years ago) you said, 'honestly this song isnt that hard, go anyway and learn it, its your homework.' i took it to heart and learnt it and really been enjoying playing it ever since- until i just put the album version on to play along to for a laugh and my wrist melted trying to keep up on the tempo change.
Now I will constantly write until I achieve the answer. Be generous, ask Tommie to create a small video about his technique of the right hand at a game solo! Is it a variable stroke? Does he leave a mediator on a string after blow? How to mute strings if the wrist doesn't lie on the bridge? What joints are responsible for a tremolo? Please, I beg you, ask Tommy to help!
Actually it's not all downstrokes , as Tommy says at 0:35. It's two downstrokes and one upstroke , times two. If you zoom and slow it down enough with VLC player , it is obvious.

wtf is his A string tuned to?? Somebody checkout the bend at 00:49 and 01:31 and tell me I'm not crazy. Guitar is perfectly in tune and everything's matching with his except for that bend..I'm having to bend the 1st fret (respective to capo).
He calls it a G6 tuning where the E is dropped to D and the A is dropped to G. Same tuning as on Cowboy's Dream, The Mystery and Smoky Mountain Lullaby. In case you were wondering ;) TE Admin
