Great work John & Samuel!
Great video once again John Thank You- I cannot believe how much Daniel has grown. I am currently having great success in my garden here in Brisbane with corn/zucchini/sweet potatoes/cucumbers & the list goes on. Yes even potatoes - seed potatoes bought from Agronico in Tasmania- they are a complete success story with me. Cheers Denise- Geebung Brisbane
Thanks John, very interesting to see how it works for you. Must have been a relief the tractor fitted into the strip, makes life a bit easier for you. Lovely to see young Daniel still out helping dad.
Hey John, Another great episode. Those sort of things with heavy raid right after seeding always seem to happen to me, but you might be surprised at the end outcome.
At the risk of sounding demanding, would love to hear your thoughts on your blue tractor…….I’m just a few short weeks from coming home to Tassie & the exciting search for a new homestead begins, I can’t wait ☺️
Good to see young Samuel getting in and lending a hand 😊
Can't wait to see how it goes :) fingers crossed 🤞🏼
Thanks for this Video. Best regards from Germany 💓
Would love to see your progress on this project- we are in southern western australia, would be a great experiment.
I tried this last year - sweetcorn and pumpkins went well, but the beans didn't work for me. They didnt get enough light. The pumpkins went OK but most of the fruit was borne on the vines out in the sun away from the leafy sweetcorn.. Good luck with yours!
Hello Alison 👋 nice meeting you here on RUclips How are you doing today?
Thanks for sharing John. Looking forward to seeing how the 3 sisters experiment goes this year.
with watering, a bit of mulch scattered on top of that soil may have aided with germination as well. It would keep that topsoil moist.
Hello Bonnie 👋 How are you doing today?
It's going to look good when they come up. I've done the 3 sisters before but instead of using pumpkin, I had cucumbers. It sorta worked but my beans didn't climb on the corn. It snaked through the corn and on the outside LOL. Good job, John & Samuel. I look forward to the update in the near future :)
Hello Mary 👋 How are you doing today?
I got rid of weeds down here in Tunbridge Tasmania by smothering the weeds with a layer of cardboard and deep mulch. If the weed seed doesn’t see the light of day they won’t come up. Hope this helps.👍
Fantastic! The Lord bless you and all your hands find to do! ❤
In your climate, you will need A LOT OF WATER. This method works very well in areas that are hot and wet. In my climate, where three sisters works well, I get around 4 inches a month of rain, and it's around 30C during the summer.
Thanks for the tip, so far this year we have had plenty of rain!
@@homesteading Best of luck! You're off to a good start. I hope you like what my cultural traditions have to offer.
very interesting, cant wait to see the results of this, thanks for sharing John
Looking forward to the next one, to see what happens.
We always grew corn and pumpkins on our place at Central Bucca, just down the road from your father's place. the pumpkins always grew best on the edge rows of corn. I've since moved to southern Tasmania and I'm planning to grow corn and pumpkins here as well. I'll be interested to see how the addition of beans goes.
Idk - this makes me anxious- maybe we can see what happens- seems like 1st starting corn and pumpkin a bit early in the hot house. then set them out. Wait about a week 3rd plant pole beans - or the beans will take over the slower corn and pumpkin plants . the pumpkin will not have enough time in many situations - idk- I’m not an expert!
Yes. main risk is that the beans will outpace the corn, or if the corn is too dense they will not get sufficient light.
This is ironic, today I tried to rotary hoe my plot for my "three sisters" for this year. Too dry (expletives removed) After all this rain.
Good job bloke. You certainly wouldn't be using your tractor here on the Mainland right now!!!
I'm easier on my soil
I hope so for you, we tried one here in Gippsland and was not successful, but we will try again. As for the oat seed, maybe try clear plastic then black plastic then clear plastic etc for a while?
