@@lolshifu1 i forgot where it was mentioned but Neeko is a Vastaya Sheirei- basically an original/pure vastaya and she has the ability to adapt and transform into a human which hints the possibility of the "magical animals" actually turn themselves into humans and have interaction with them.
@@lolshifu1 Ahri's original lore states that she's a fox demon who consume human energy to transform into a human. That is still her canon lore and I don't know why Riot is calling her a vastaya. But since she's going to have her rework update anytime soon they probably would release more story in that.

@@lolshifu1 yeah, now vastayasharei are humans who got buffed up with spiritual magic and the spirit realm to fight the titans, and could change theor shapes, like druids from wow I guess, and when they mated with humans their offspring became the vastaya with a lot less connection to the spirit realm
tbh it is never said Yi annihilated armies, just that he routed noxian warbands which is nowhere near a legion, for example Samira is compared to a noxian warband too And wuju was forbidden because it is essentially spirit magic and they thought that using it for violence will only stain it

But as they mated with humans, and as their bloodlines become more and more diluted with human genetics, their descendants take on more and more human traits until eventually you end up with shapeshifters, humans who can shift into animals (like Nidalee and maybe Udyr)
