    I have been watching your videos as I am going to the beginner road riding journey too. So I decided to leave you a comment on this one but it is for all your videos. I really like them since is from the perspective of someone exploring and and learning about a new and very engaged activity as enthusiastic beginner road biker. Your tips are very useful, and they make a lot of sense for me as I am going to the same questions, like what best to wear, to carry, helmets, bikes, etc etc and even questions about what socks to wear for cycling :-)… Thank you!

    Good video. Very good advice. I live in south Louisiana (USA). We have a mild brief winter- the only consistently cold months are Dec Jan and Feb. Nov and Mar have quite a few cool mornings with warm afternoons, but occasionally we can get very cold mornings in those two months as well.
    Through the winter, quite a few mornings will be in lower to mid 30s and then warm to 50s and even 60. Winter wear here can be tricky.. so multi layering key.
    At the moment I’m trying find a pair of winter tights for the coldest of our weather- cold windy 32f mornings that dont get much higher than 45f and windy. We have a handful if those.
    I ordered the Castelli Polare (size XL). It was too big for me… the main issue was excessive length. I’m 5ft8”.
    I exchanged for Size L. It is a but too long as well but fits a bit closer to the body.. still too long, But not as bad as XL. I’m contemplating returning it for size M. But with size M I’m a bit worried it will be too tight everywhere else.
    Maybe I will just go to Sorpassi ROS L winter tights and give up on Polare.
    Do you have experience with any of these two Castelli bib tights?

    • @fede1275
      @fede1275  Год назад

      I have a Castelli Tutto Nano in nanoflex material, very stretchy and good for winter without been too bulky. I'm between 6 and 6.1 and XL fits me. Everything else I wear L, both in European standards. I also have with my Siroko collaboration the Envalira bibs, with windproof panels in the front, also good with cold wind and drizzle.

    Cool video. Discovered some new brands. Love Castelli but only at the discounted prices! I find hands to be the biggest problem. Ended up investing in heated Sealskinz gloves. Super pricey but they work.

    • @fede1275
      @fede1275  Год назад

      Yes, the hands are a problem for me as well. I am also looking at heated gloves! At that time I bought my Castelli kit with the cycle to work scheme, only way to justify the price. Now I am collaborating with Siroko and I am very happy, see my latest videos.

      @@fede1275 Great. I do recommend the Sealskinz gloves. So far really good. But one does need to size up and I still normally wear a DHB under glove underneath. Helps with sweat management.

    Great video Federico.
    Its SO easy to get sucked into buying expensive winter gear but, decathlon and cheaper brands fo just as good products for winter as you usually get kit ruined by the crap weather or in my case come off on some ice and put holes in your clothing. So, cheaper kit for that reason alone is a good choice. Also, keeping warm on the bike is essential. Mainly the extremities like goes and hands suffer the most.
    Its all about layering and you’re right. Depending on how hard you are going to ride.
    I can pretty much manage through winter with thermal bibs and thermal leg warmers in the winter but when its gets to about 0 degrees C I’ll whip the tights out. 😅

    Hi Federico, I also have quite a few things from Bicycle Line. Their Normandia short sleeve windstopper jersey is great to use with arm warners. I agree though it's not always just about stopping the wind. Alé also have a thermal gilet, not windstopper, which if worn really tight over a winter jersey works great, though actually I sometimes wear it under the Bicycle Line Normandia or Castelli Perfetto Light.

    • @fede1275
      @fede1275  3 года назад +1

      Haven't tried anything from Ale', but Bicycle Line quality is good and offered at a decent price. Pity last time I ordered in January I got stung by import duties and taxes thanks to Brexit. Not sure if there is now any provision for that.

      Definitely challenging, I use a warm base layer but not too thick, compression like Under Armour, then a soft shell cycling jacket and a gilet to protect from the wind. If very cold I will wear a waterproof jacket instead of the gilet.
