New year new you! Hindsight is 2020! 2021 is YOUR year! After we move past all the platitudes and dad jokes we find ourselves in January where many folks start thinking about cutting back on their booze intake. So it's time for a follow-up to my original mocktails video, this time we're making three versions of increasing complexity: a tasty 3 ingredient sour, a professional shirley temple, and a highly complex Americano that I could not believe was spirit-free.

I had no idea there we so many haters in the comments smh. When I was pregnant, I would have loved to have more non alcoholic choices. Sometimes you don’t feel like plain orange juice or coke.
I love to make Mocktails for parties, so that the DD / Spouse / Non-drinkers can enjoy something interesting too!
Plus, when done well, even the drinkers will partake and generally get just that much less drunk
You shouldn't be snorting coke if you're pregnant...

Nice - I saw that Americano recipe on the sample pages for Zero and wanted to give it a try. Bruto Americano is one of my favorite aperitifs, so a mock version of it had me curious! Will definitely give it a try!!

When i want something non-alcoholic i normally go with a virgin screwdriver.

@@vetleallum2965 Admittedly I tend to do the same thing lol. I don't like carbonated drinks, so when I'm grabbing something nonalcoholic it's usually either orange juice or tea. You're in good company! :)

Very nice. I’ve only done the first one so far. I did just like your recipe, but it was a wee bit sweet. Then I did 3/4 lemon and 3/4 orgeat with 2 dashes of angostura (yes, I know that has alcohol), and it turned out perfect for me. Thanks!!
First for the year
I love mocktails. I don't have like a moral or religious thing against alcohol- I just think it makes perfectly good drinks taste like you put a drop of hand sanitizer in them.
Lots of people aren't big drinkers and nowadays there are so many great ways to make craft mocktails. I've done a few that people love because they're driving, on medication, or simply just don't feel like having booze.

RUclips I need your help. In Germany those drinks without alcohol are often called 'Virgins' or 'Virgin Drinks'. Is this common in any English speaking country? I can't find good information on that on the internet because the web search just floods me with ads...

It would be interesting to see some comparison about the alcohol free gin/rum etc replacements. Are they worth their price for someone who would enjoy cocktails but cannot drink alcohol.
I've never found a really good one, but I'm happy to be proven wrong. When making mocktail versions of some of my cocktails, I just try to play up the other flavors to make them stand out so much you don't think the unique flavor of the booze would make it better.

A rusty nail is scotch and drambuie liqueur. Could you do x6 2 ingredient cocktails but change spirits and liqueur?

Fees is made with glycerine, so no alcohol in it actually
Hmm, looks like the alcohol % is about 6.4% which is definitely on the low side. My understanding is that glycerine is used as a fixative to stabilize bitters with a low ABV like this.

I'll be honest, I'm not sure if drinking that much sugar is any healthier than cutting back on the booze. Cool looking drinks, but I'm going to go put together an insulin spritzer to wash them down with.

I thought the alcohol in the shaker kills any harmful bacteria in the egg white. Or is that just a wives' tale?
There's no science ive seen to support that
To the extent I've seen it lab tested as true of whole eggs in egg nog, it takes 24 hours to kill all the harmful bacteria, which is usually longer than most people prepare it in advance. You can also pasteurize egg whites if you're concerned. Or use Versawhip.

The problem with alcohol (aside from being harmful for people on controlled medication, pregnant people and people suffering with alcoholism) is the bitterness. Alcohol does not taste good. So it really bothers me when people make bitter drinks to mimick alcohol.
I disagree. I stopped drinking but I sometimes really miss the burning sensation of spirits in my drink.
