So the reason why you can't stop pirate (And likely jailor too) is because that's technically a day ability... by the time you selected your target, they were already pirated and selecting something. The game can't retroactively tell the pirate in the middle of a duel that the duel isn't happening because of a party that they ignored...
You know I think the new Soc might be better if they kinda hybridized it with the old soc. What if they turned the party to a day ability, you select your target during the day and during the night you and your target party and can talk in party chat. Anybody else on the guest list is also in on the chat. Otherwise it works the same. Cant just compleatly nuke evil's coordination but still can stratigicly get a bit more town communication.
Here's the issue, the rework is balanced via the fact evils can become on the guest list. After a few nights of people visiting places it would just be old Socialite but with infinite charges which is terrifying. Even if you made it so evils can't be guest listed that creates a new problem where everyone in the party is confirmed town.
@@cheskitten7097 I think it would be less problematic because for such a case it would only be towards the end of the game while it is usually the beggining as well as middle where evils need to talk to each other for plans the most.
There was this role in Throne of Lies called Mystic which I think is a better idea than old Soc. And it is unique. Basically they would be able to either pick one person to talk to at night (they would be named Mystic anon kinda like Jailor) or link 2 other players together and watch their conversation. Self confirming sure but only a couple of people can see the confirm at a time, like Admirer.
They definitely need to do something to restore the fun, social aspect of socialite. As-is it's very boring. Would also be a great opportunity to have another player look at your custom house that you've put together
My first thought about the Shroud getting through you was because they were likely on YOU and therefore couldn't be roleblocked by your party. And yea, Pirate is a day ability -- wouldn't expect you to be able to stop a Jailor either.
I played a game a socialite once and on night 1, the person I partied at died to coven. On night 2, the person I partied died to SK. I think socialite is just broken with killers rn
There is a bug with socialite where the killers bypass the socialite entirely as if there was never a party. The townies get block by the bouncer, though.
Makes sense that Pirate bypasses Socialite because they use their ability during the day, whereas Socialite has to pick a target at night, so the Pirate out-prioritizes them. As for the Shroud, maybe Astral visits aren't blocked by the Socialite, because they don't technically visit their targets?
I will also say, it might be a priority on the role list thing (higher on the list takes priority) because I have had a game where the second attack of War was blocked by a soc, winning town the game
@@ryanerickson3135 aparently both of these interactions were just listed in bugfixes, so, no, I don't think they were intentional/priority interactions. (Also, when I died to Jinx as Soc, I was 2 and they were 14)
3:30 the not dying to rampage is probably when they are not on the guest list, its acts as a reverse role block so in this games example if a WW went to 13 n2 they don't rampage you there because they get sent home instead and don't visit anyone. at least thats how i think it works
So i had a LO game where I saw the socialite visit twice. The notification was “you saw player visiting your target!” or whatever the visit message is, printed twice on night 2. I don’t know if it’s a bug or something. Obviously the soc has one visit for throwing the party at the selected house, so idk what the second visit would be, the invite? A quick trip to party city and back?
With the ability as written, I would expect Socialite to prevent werewolf from getting inside the house, protecting everyone at the party from rampage, while everyone outside the house gets rampaged. Then, werewolf is on guest list.
Here's an idea: Socialite - Each night, choose to send a player an invitation or select yourself to host a party. This works like Arsonist, except people can see that they were invited. When you throw a party, everyone who was invited gets roleblocked and protected because they are at the party. They also get to chat at night, and their home is replaced with the party venue.
wait I don't understand: what does "adding other players to the guest list for future parties" mean? I don't get it, you can't talk with the people on your guest list, so let's say I party at 1s house n1 and 2 visits 1, 2 is added to my "guest list", then on n2 I party at 3s house, what happens to 2?
I think in your scenario, if you throw a party at 3’s house, 2 will be allowed to use their ability on three because they’ve been added to your list the previous night. That’s my understanding. 2 is simply “added to your Guest List,” so if they target somebody you’re throwing a party for, they’re aren’t rb’d.
When someone not on the guest list tries to visit a party, they'll be denied (basically roleblocked) and added to the guest list, so if they visit a party again they won't be denied and the visit goes like normal.
Pirate picks their target before you can act, bypassing Socialite ability, and shroud shrouded the pirate and piggy-backed through. The role is not weird, its fine.
As far as I can tell, the socialite works by rolblocking anyone that directly visits the same person, so indirect attacks such as werewolf rampage and shround will bypass it
I had a game with a socialite and the socialite got rampaged but the targeted person did not and I visited the targeted player too. (he later told me that the ww was NOT added to the list and was added the day he was killed)
Monarch have ability to knight someone. It gives Knighted player second vote and as long as Knighted player alive Monarch gets Basic defense. Monarch is Town Power Role, same as Jailor, Mayor and Prosecutor and have two charges of ability
If coven roles are unique, if a poisoner dies can the cl retrain a coven member into another poisoner? If so it would make some pretty cool fake claims
Doj is correct, this prevents plays like the above. Any Coven that was already in the game, either from the beginning or from retraining, can't be retrained into.
I have had the reworked Socialite role and personally I think it has become the worst town role & I have more fun as a retri with no roles to use. @@BlightedCrimson True it was broken but at least it did something where as now it does nothing at all. IMO it's now the worst town role & I feel kinda sorry for anyone to gets it.
The reason why Shroud was able to bypass Socialite was because they shrouded the Pirate
