I’ve got a basic 2021 Scout 290 race. Cheap as chips, easily upgraded to 12x1, goes almost everywhere and weighs too little to care when it is push/carry time. It’s a great legs workout even on gentle trails. I don’t think I’ll ever be without a Scout
I’m riding a Scout 290 Comp. I think your description is spot on: planted but still playful. I feel like I can shred more on the Scout than my Kona hardtail.
Nice to see you on the Scout! I've got a v3 Scout 275 and I absolutely love it. The 275 is very playful with the 27.5 wheels. I'm rocking a Deore 10 speed with mine and she climbs all day and descends even better.
I had a roscoe before my scout, I personally think the scout is better in every way. Feels so much more nimble than the roscoe and way more fun on the trails I ride on. Great video mate
I had a Scout before i got a Banshee Paradox V3 and it is better in every way. They are levels on hardtail frames too ! With that being said the Scout is a great bike.
@@pollyaloy kind of hard to tell. At 6'4" I love it but would find an XL to be fine on the kind of riding I normally do. The XXL has that extra bit of room to move around on the bike & that makes it so much more comfortable. That said, I was on some bumpy , jump, and drop lines yesterday on the scout and it ate it up, but really needed a monster truck on those rougher gravity trails. Two days ago was on a steeper trail, but it was smoother yet had huge ruts. The scout was perfect and right on the edge of confidence inspiring. I run Vittoria syerras and had way to much air in them both rides. 35 lbs. More aggressive tires and lower pressure would have added to the fun
Found your channel because I've been riding a Marlin 6 my first year of riding, looking to upgrade now to a better hardtail and the Roscoe and the Scout are my main choices right now. Something about the Nukeproof design just looks better to me, does that sound silly? The trek glossy paint hasn't been my favorite on the Marlin
Loved the roscoe and have ridden the nukeproof. But then I rode a steel hardtail and haven’t gone back. You should try to get your hands on a good steel hardtail and compare the ride
Just came across your channel. You would be a fun guy to ride with! I've heard good things about Nukeproof bikes. I have a set of their wheels on my bike. You should come up to Northern Utah during the summer. Lots of fun trails here. During the winter, go ride around St. George, Utah.
Your channel really makes me want to shred on a hardtail, lol! A few years ago, mid pandemic, I scoffed at sensibility and spent waaaaayyyy too much money on a Santa Cruz Nomad. One of those once in a lifetime things I just HAD to do! I absolutely love it and it's definitely my "do-it-all" bike, but if I could somehow muster up a few extra grand I'd probably throw it down on a Roscoe! So is Paul the Punter back on the bike?! That's great to hear if so!
Pretty cool you got to ride another hardtail. The trek and scout are similar builds. How was the BB height on the scout? Did you have pedal Strikes? Hardtail party complained of that so interesting to here you’re comparison of the bikes.
I have a nukeproof scout elite 27,5. Love the bike. It really runs well, like you say. I haven't tried the 29er but i can imagine it been just little bit less playful, but better to carry its speed.
@@MattyActive did it change your preference for your preferred reach on a HT? 425mm is a lot smaller then your Rosco with 455mm. Also, did you get a lot of pedal strikes with the scout ? It has 10mm more bb drop then your Rosco.
I also have took an eye on the nukeproof as a 2nd Bike. Whats the difference between the roscoe 8 ? Is the nukeproof easier to drive on streets / normal cycle tracks ?
I would like to have some kind of mountain bike, let alone a nuke proof, I tried to refinance my house to get a bike a lower budget bike at that and they denied it. I’m looking at nuke proof , fathom one, specialized fuse comp, commencal ride
Hey can I ask u a question? I'm about to buy this bike used. It looks in good state. They sell it to me for 750 euros. It's a nice deal? It's worth it to buy it used at that price? Pls I need an advice
@@pabloo2018 its about right. Ive seen older models selling for 600-800. Just make sure it functions well as sometimes there are hidden things the seller might be hiding . @@rossejera1661 thank u very much for the advice. @ $3k it should be a better bike. I just cant see spending that much on a hard-tail. Did Paul give you any news on what he's doing now since he dropped MTB? Thx for the video Matty.
I've try the nukeproof scout and just like you my feeling was the Roscoe is more playful. Probably because the Nukeproof is more stable he can be a better bike for beginners but for fun I put the Roscoe first .
I love the whole nuke proof design and all but the roscoe is a beast. I put a lyrik fork 150mm on mine with dh carbon rims. 4 piston slx brakes and some wolf paw cam grips. I think I punish the bike but it actually punishes me
I cannot confirm the hype about the scout 290. Poor chainring clearance, unlovely made yoke, seattubeangle to old-fashioned,seattube not cleaned up from welding rests( scratched dropper post) Yeah, the yellow paint I love, but that's all, sorry ......

I've gone FS this year but still love Hardtails!
Heck yeah! Stoked to see them come to US distribution. GREAT bikes!
Glad you were still able to do the MTB festival. If you're maybe looking at getting a Nukeproof, Pedal Pushers in Golden is a Nukeproof dealer.
Nice! I never knew that. The guy was telling me Nukeproof just came into the states about 6 months ago
Events like this are great to show you all different kinds of equipment out there! Gotta be honest, you looked good on that bike...
aye scouts are great. right before winter set in i picked up a 27.5 elite model. not many trails over here in kansas but man it's a fun bike
Sheesh looking good on that nukeproof. I had a mega a few years ago, they shred.

Roscoe 9 no doubt!! 🤙🏼

Nice vid. What frame size was that and how tall are you. Frame size was good for you?

They didn’t but I’ll be honest, I have a lot of Scott dealers in my area and they look sick! I wanna try one for sure
One day I will go there 👍🏻

I agree. Definitely better off with the Roscoe 8
Lots of things that can hurt if you crash in AZ! (i.e., cactuses, agave, and sharp rocks).
