Movie series often take strange twists and turns over their lifetimes, but the Predator franchise has always been its own uniquely bizarre case. John McTiernan’s 1987 original was an Arnold Schwarzenegger action vehicle that pitted a group of military commandos against an interstellar hunter that picked them off one by one. It brought with it all the one-liners, alpha-male posturing, and explosions that the decade demanded, and was enough of a hit to warrant a sequel. But three years later, Predator 2 failed at the box office, and the property lay dormant for 14 years. It eventually resurfaced as part of Alien vs. Predator, and while mash-up films are usually a creative death knell, the movie was enough of a sucess to warrant its own sequel. Robert Rodriguez and director Nimród Antal tried to bring the whole thing back to life with 2010’s Predators - and then once again, things got quiet. Predator is the little franchise that could: never delivering a sequel that’s a true home run, but always doing just well enough to warrant another turn at the box-office bat. But with The Predator, filmmaker Shane Black is attempting to put the franchise back in the spotlight. Originally known for writing movies like Lethal Weapon and The Last Action Hero, Black has since become known as a dual-threat writer-director, combining action and comedy with films like Iron Man 3 and The Nice Guys. (He coincidentally has a history with the Predator franchise as well, having appeared as an actor in the first film.) Along with co-writer Fred Dekker (The Monster Squad, Robocop 2), he tries to turn The Predator into an R-rated comic-action-horror hybrid, a movie that salutes the 1980s genre churn that spawned the original, while simultaneously trying to add its own idiosyncratic spin. It sounds great in concept. A Shane Black rethink could theoretically give the franchise its own strong authorial voice and identity - the one thing it’s been missing ever since 1987. But to pull that off, the movie would actually need to deliver.
When the final scene showed the super predator suit for our hero to wear I burst out laughing.. looked like a nursery child was asked by their teacher to draw a predator suit and this is what we got
@@redpillnibbler4423 I know but since Disney owns Fox and Fox Owns the Predator franchise there sorta part of Disney but I refuse to call Disney’s Predator
I’m sorry you had to watch this garbage again. Of all the franchises that have been ruined with bad sequels and remakes, this is the one I take most personally offensive. There was some interview with Shane Black where he talked about how he and Dekker joked with each other about doing a Predator movie and said “that would be a good laugh,” so it was a given they were never interested in making a good Predator movie the fans would enjoy. Another interview with Shane Black, he was asked on his thoughts of Predator 2 and he said, “it’s for the fanboys.” I wanna know why that’s a bad thing.
Definitely the worst Predator movie of all time it manages to be even worse than Predators (2010) at least they tried to be serious in that 2010 movie even though it sucked but this is just a shitty painfully unfunny comedy just like Seed Of Chucky
#ReleaseTheBlackandWilderCut, honestly in all seriousness this film was eh when I first saw it in theaters I loved it but yeah since the rewatches it doesn't hold up like I'd want it to, still wouldn't mind seeing Black's original cut before Fox and Olivia Munn ruined a lot of it
Films they should Remake? Alfred Hitchcocks the birds, mad Max ( Tom hardy doing the origin story as Fury road was a secondary character). They live, the shadow ( though I did like the 1994 film).
Remember when people forgave Alien 3 after all the details surfaced as to why that movie sucked, and how it wasn't really Dave Fincher's fault? MattMcMuscles did a What Happened? video on this movie, and pretty much the exact same fucking thing happened. Except with this one, I still don't like it. I can't see myself liking it even if they did more reshoots with new scenes and dialogue. That's how bad it is. It'd be like polishing a wet pile of dogshit.
Oh no a ranting commentary on the pussinator 😑 but good ranting commentary as always ramboraph4life I hate the film too worst movie of 2018 hands down the dude who requested deserves a 🥉for real take care adios ✌❤😁🤘💀🤘
great ranting ommentary matt and i am with you this was a bad film i disagree myself that its underated but to eash their own i agree with every word you said matt and the diolog the writing was like a terrible comedy
My favourite Arnold films other than the first two terminator films and predator is Conan the barbarian, the running Man. Red heat, the last action hero(yes really), true lies, and jingle all the way. End of days is a good film but Arnie was miscast in the film in my opinion. Should have went with Mel Gibson
Terrible fucking movie and resepect to you matt for enduring the pain of watching this garbage, the only things i like about this movie is the makeup on the fugitive predator and the lab scene was decent but that's it!
The last predator movie I saw was 2, 1st and 2nd predator films only ones I need!!
agreed
Agree the franchise ended at 2
Although "PREDATORS" was pretty good & I thought it was the best since the 1st film. 😎
Oh man Matt so sorry someone requested you to go through that torture of a film again...You don't deserve this...:(

Schwarzenegger film you should review is Raw Deal

Oh this commentary is going to be good!!!!!
The Predator really sucks.
Tell me about it this is why I’m not looking forward to Disney and Fox’s upcoming Predator movie
@ Nick Gagnon Exactly dude Exactly

The words Predator and Disney don’t belong in the same universe!

Predator 2 was the last worthwhile movie and the franchise went downhill with avp
This Film 📽️🎥 Is An Insult to Me Because I Have Autism and ADHD...

I’d love to see a remake of The Birds as long as it’s done properly of course.
Your Commentary made this terrible film watchable LOL XD
The absolute worst Predator film ever. Its worse than Highlander The Source and the humour felt like something out of a bad South Park episode.
I’m kinda curious though. What good did you expect to find in highlander the source in the first place? Lol

Pretty good poster wasted on a bollocks film.
lol thats about the only good thing about this film

Wait until we get the upcoming 5th movie which will be even worse than this.
The absolute WORST Predator film by far. The E for Everyone joke belongs in a goddamn Marvel Studios movie or series.

What a piece of trash this movie was and killed the franchise

Damn somebody must have really wanted to listen to you RANT on this again Matt lol. This movie still fucking sucks IMO.
