@@gurcharanbedi204 Yes Sir, and i am sure you have done a very good job here at igniting that spark of researching more, but as someone who has aerospace background (Propulsion system) its my natural instinct to look for microscopic detail (which obvsly was not the right approach here). What i Feel is the impact of canards on infrared signature is often overblown, as the primary source of IR signature is the engine exhaust, which can be mitigated through design and materials. In Beyond Visual Range engagements, where agility and canard control are less relevant, other factors like the aircraft's overall shape, materials, and coating play a more substantial role in reducing radar cross-section and IR signature. Frontal IR signature of j20 is very low (as low as yf23), and most future A2A engagements will happen in BVR range, where the manuevarbility is not a factor (so canard control surfaces wont be activated), obvsly all engagements wont be front facing and angle of incidence will be a factor too, but even from the sides , J20 has a respectable stealth and any aircraft will have to enter its detection range to engage. i dont master in aircraft design but i do understand the theoretical concept, and based on data we have on A2A combat between a 5th gen and 4.5gen aircrafts (simulated), i dont think having canards will matter so much, the 5th gen aircarft with canards will still have the advantage, and if its between two stealth aircrafts, well thats someting when Avionics and weapons become the major player not the aircraft itself.. (I maybe wrong) What we all miss everytime is that, that stealth is a holistic approach, encompassing electronic warfare (EW) systems to jam enemy sensors, situational awareness tools for early threat detection, low-probability-of-intercept (LPI) systems to minimize electromagnetic emissions, advanced avionics, and efficient cyclic engines. These components work together to reduce an aircraft's detectability and enhance its combat effectivness.

Missed the Live broadcast of this earnestly awaited episode. Deep gratitude to Air Marshal Bedi for structuring a Presentation so easily understandable by a layperson. The analogy of a man waiting in the dark to take a shot was simply brilliant! The pleasure and honour is entirely ours, that Air Marshal should deem it fit to devote his precious time to enlighten us on various facets of Military Aviation. While I've had prior reading of the two seminal event / mission involving Stealth Aircraft viz. downing of F-117 over Serbia as well as the long endurance flight of B2 to Afghanistan; listening to a practitioner's narration was insightful all over again. The use of HUMINT and recalibration of RADARs by the Serbs to down the F-117 was not known to me. Also interesting was Air Marshal's cite that supporting Growler aircraft (essentially F/A-18) could not participate due to bad weather, but the F-117 went ahead anyways. If I try to connect the dots with Air Marshal's discussion on the maneuverability of Stealth Aircraft; 1. are stealth aircraft designed to be aerodynamically more stable compared to the supersonic fighter jets; the latter, as I understand, are designed to be inherently unstable? 2. is greater aerodynamic stability a precondition for or a consequence of stealth geometry? On the downing of F-117; besides the brief opening of the bomb bay, I recall speculation that the rains deteriorated / interfered with the Stealth characteristics of the aircraft coatings. However, Air Marshal also cited the pressures and stresses on the Aircraft body in-flight, the same coating ought to be able to endure. Not sure if the speculation can stand scrutiny to that fact. Meanwhile the opening of the bomb bay will remain an integral function of every 5th Gen Aircraft, It would be interesting to see how this limiting aspect plays in severely contested airspaces of peer adversaries. Finally, Air Marshal's very brief cite about potentially using magnetic anomaly to detect aircraft was intriguing. Am aware of Indian Navy's P8I using it in the farthest tail section of the aircraft to detect submarines. As a lay person, two steep challenges come to my mind: 1) the size difference between the submarine and the aircraft 2) the increasing use of composites in the aircraft body. Then again, I'd never underestimate the power of technological advancements to punch through problems! Once again, deep gratitude to Air Marshal Bedi for indulging us on matters of Military Aviation. Look forward to many future sessions he may plan on other topics with Aadi.
India will never overtake China. The Chinese do not fear India. India does not provide even primary education to all its citizens. Only some are giving a high level of education. Engineers are critically lacking. The Diwali lamps used in Diwali festivals are made in China and cost Rs 600, but the same product, made in India, costs Rs 1,000. In terms of GDP per capita, China is more than 4.5 times India's, yet it cannot compete on price. Even low value-added products are more expensive than Chinese products. Cheap labour also makes no sense. India is a crystallisation of inefficiency. India is not a country associated with production efficiency. India will never be a superpower. Countries like Brazil. Stealth fighters primary mission would be deep penetration interdiction, SEAD Ops. etc. That has a few implications. Firstly the type of weapons to be carried would be strike weapons therefore fewer with higher pay load. And secondly only a few numbers in the concealed weapons bay. This also means that since payload from weapons is higher only internal fuel is available while refuellers cannot accompany in enemy territory. This in turn means limited combat range. Therefore it becomes incumbent on the weapons to be able to cover the remaining distances especialy in enemy having very high strategic depth. Eventually the mission package would have to combine a team dedicated to strike supported by a team with Air Superiority and equipped with combat weapons.

All FAST TRACKED with hefty funding, political will, and private industry competitiveness for manufacturing. With NUMBERS and training as well as fast-tracked procurementents of the AEW + C "Netra" aircraft (with massively powerful radars) - there can be a well-networked group to counter Chinese stealth fighters "somewhat" - until the AMCA stealth fighter gets into production 10 years later at least in some nominal form.
India needs to use reactor-grade fuel with thermal bridges to build MORE nuclear weapons - 500+ weapons with hard-to-intercept missiles (K-4 with maneuvering capability to the target at hypersonic speeds in a truck-launched form + Agni-5 with Mach 25 speeds) and of course the cheaper Brahmos supersonic missiles that can fly close to the ground and be protected by ground clutter/reflections. Even with pre-detonation from Pu-240 isotopes a 8 kilogram plutonium core can generate 2-8 KT of yield (vs. 12-13 KT for cores in the tested Indian weapon configuration). Boosted fission devices (thermonuclear primary) could generate over 14 KT of yield with minimal pre-detonation. A distributed network of well-trained nuclear attack teams - monitored with polygraph testing and various tools to guard against espionage, corruption, sabotage, penetration, etc. CAN be a bigger deterrent than "stealth" when equipped with top-notch missiles and artificial intelligence (AI) battlefield tactics tools (perhaps using Israeli software) to promote nimbleness and ability against enemy forces.

Stealth Fighter jet is a hype because proof such Russia su-30sm fighter jet detect heat signature of f-35 detected it but due to Kibeny electronics warefare system f-35 failed to track su -30sm to detect it so every country make hype of stealth here we can see fourth generation fighter plane not only detect f-35 but also jammed it it proof stealth technology is a hype

Not really, maybe cheaper to make a new one than to convert it !!
