Agree 100% about bench coaches. Kenny Payne was a big loss, but so was Rod Strickland and John Robic…the program dropped after each of those coaches left.
Imagine how much better those three 7 footers would've been had Kenny Payne still been around.

The standard was set long before Cal was came to Lexington. The standard is what attracted him to the job and the reason he had an opportunity to take the job. It will also be the reason he will be relieved of the job, if that standard continues to not be met.

I honestly wrote off Jalen Green...still not convinced this is who he is, but I can't deny he is actually looking like a complete basketball player that isn't just out there to shoot and run...he is rebounding, trying to defend, in the lanes, passing and cutting without the ball...Amen is allowing a lot of this quietly...I like their squad...Cam Whitmore was going crazy for a stretch too...They have some real promise moving forward.
How the hell can write off a kid thats soo talented as him and being 22… bro let these kids tap into their grown man body and prime before we make rash judgments. The problem was never him its the expectations the media and fans create themselves which are unrealistic… greats before weren’t as good as this kid is at the same age.
Write off his past coaches. Jalen his first 2 seasons was only asked to stand in the corner for 3's and run in transition. This is the 1st season he's been asked to do everything, and do it at a high level.

I wish I could debate with cousins. Rondo’s response is exactly y we need in-state recruits and coaches that get it. This is Kentucky we don’t have an nba team. All we got is wildcat and/or cardinal basketball. This was Kentucky way before Cal and well after Cal. Saying Billy’s era was championship or bust is a LIE. We did fire that man! lol what is Demarcus talking about. Cal lost with him, Bledsoe & wall to West Virginia. Like that team should’ve at least made it to the final four. No more excuses. We need a culture change we don’t want what cal is bringing it needs to come down

Love Boogie. Love Rondo. Thanks Rondo for saying that Kentucky Basketball was great before and it will be great after Cal. They have 8 national Championship and Cal brought 1. Boogie's also correct that firing Cal is going to be super hard to replace. He the best recruiter in College sports history. But he's 65...and theyll have to replace him soon so someone has to do it and theirs lots of great coaches and the support will always be there! I hope the Cal guys stay loyal to UK when Cal's gone. They picked KY for CAL not Kentucky...we get that. But BBN loves the Cal era players especially Boogie the first commit that got the ball rolling!
And Rondo needs to be considered for a coaching position at UK....Forget the NBA. Help the younger gen get to the league, not help a bunch of pampered millionaires with their instagram hoochies and side hoes! College coaches have better job security, shorter seasons, and the best make more than NBA coaches with the occasional exception like a Phil Jackson or Steve Kerr or the guy at Miami

As a Warriors fan, Rondo/AD/Boogie is a scary trio back in 2017-2018 season. Imagine if those three were healthy in the 2018 Playoffs postseason.
Look Adolf Rupp set the standard at UK 4 national championships an when he stopped winning like he was he was replaced .cal didn't build Kentucky to a power program he did add to it .he just has to evolve his coaching or he will be gonna next year

UK definitely gotta get KP back on the staff. Our bigs were elite under KP. Add Rondo to the bench with Ulis & that's a winning staff. Then convince Reed, DJ, Bradshaw, Edwards & Big Z to stay for another year & you're good even with the kids he's adding next year

I don't think this is all on coach Cal at all. The way he recruits lends itself to guys not staying as long or a year minimum. I do think age is going to play some part I don't think this generation is nearly as mentally tough as some of these guys used to be.

Why aren't the Sixers protecting Embiid from himself? They shouldn't let him come back and they shouldn't let him play in the Olympics either. He wasn't supposed to play the Warriors game. He pushed through. He felt the pressure of the media saying he was ducking stars.
He doesn't need to play. Wait for next year. He will have a bad playoff and be judged like he was healthy anyway. All these bad performances have a cloud of being injured but every one counts him as a bad playoff performer because if your injured and you play, you will be judged as if you were healthy.

Rondo sounds a bit like a hater lmao Rob and Reed kept coming off the bench when the fanbase and media kept coming at Cal for starting Dj. There were good points with Cal being stuck but he always adjusts. Bringing in Draft boards and NIL deals are irrelevant if you're going to bring up a team combined of HALL OF FAMERS on their last ride. Doc rivers must've gotten them to buy in for job security because it wasn't x's and o's. Cal just has to understand he can now poach other teams best players for a small fee.
