Hi Sarah, thanks for a super helpful channel. Is there a way to route all of a phone’s data through this openDNS, ie also the cellular data? Or is it limited to your home W-LAN? If limited to W-LAN, it would not be very helpful for phones with a data plan. Or did I misunderstand? Thanks!
what internet service provider and router/modem combo works with openDNS? Because I know google fiber and their router setup works but not some other internet service providers I am trying to use when google fiber isn't available in the area.
What are some router suggestions. We have 2 streaming tvs. Occasionally play a video game. 3 cell phones and use Wi-Fi calling. Our house is around 3500sqft.
I have a question. If you have OpenDNS on your router, can you bypass it temporarily with a password? I used to do this with the now-defunct K9 program. For instance, if I block swimwear and lingerie for my family, but one day I want to buy a swimsuit, do I have to go into the settings and unblock that category, or can I just temporarily unblock it with my password?
Can the Open DNS nameservers be implemented on a device specific basis, or does it have to be router-wide? For instance, if I want to block some websites on my child's Chromebook, can I just point their Chromebook's nameservers at Open DNS on my at-home network? Or does it have to be for the entire router?
Bit late to the party but, yes, you can point just your child’s devices to OpenDNS servers but when your children start getting tech savvy, they’ll always find a way to unblock it
If you have a dynamic ip from your ISP, when your ip is renewed, it can cause openings to not work. There is an opendns desktop app that will keep your ip updated with the service when your ip address changes.
As a tech guy myself , really like how you explain complex networking stuff into simple plain english.

Very helpful.. Is there an option for word filtering also?

You explain things so clearly, thank you

anyone know how to get OpenDNS for Cox Panoramic Router as DNS is locked down
Thanks❤️
This is so helpful!
Looks like OpenDNS has changed. I no longer see the two IP addresses. Am I missing something? Thanks
What do you mean?
my opendns always stop working after 2 weeks.why is this happening?how do i stop this?
It would depend on what is making it fail? Is the settings getting removed from your router?
