I start many songs by setting Impact as a pattern and just putting a 4x4 kick down. Just loop it til ready to record and when ready to hit record just string it out to some random looong length that I know I wont outrun . Instant metronome. Takes mere seconds and much less cumbersome and more versatile than the actual metronome!
Thank you for efforts and sharing this, are you able to share a video on how to edit midi notes in studio one such as how to fade out and in with midi recording. Thank you
Awesome tutorial - quick question - for the visually impaired can the videos you make be done with a white background and black text in the settings? The dark background is a bit difficult to follow on small screens
I’ve tried changing the zoom settings but my overall view of studio one is far more zoomed than this. How do I change the view so I can see everything as in this video?
Thanks - great video for a new user. But major problem here -- I go to "NEW" "TEMPLATES" and the list has five templates, not all of the templates shown in your video. There is no "PRODUCE BEATS" or even a "PLAY NOW" template...? I have Studio One 6.6, registered "OEM" version. Can you help me take the next step or two?
I have the current version of studio one 6, 6.6.2 and when I select produce beats my screen doesn't look like yours with the 3 tracks and beat pattern layout. Any Ideas why?
Ok Joe, great video. It would be great to have one important aspect touched on (maybe in another video?). How about then taking those basic, stiff sounding loops and adding some swing on them???? Get them from sounding basic to then adding some pop!!!! I'd love to see a video on that. Thanks.
There's a setting for that in Studio One. Lots of drum VST's do it too Edit: It's actually visible in the video. I'm pretty sure you can have different amounts per lane too.
Great, thanks but what version of S1 do I need for this? I have the basic one and followed your steps but the templates (3 tracks w instruments etc) don't show up. All I get is the usual blank song template. Thanks again, Peter
I've chopped my own sample in impact, and I wanted to duplicate the track to make it so I can play different additions to the song, however studio one merges the midi and it cuts itself out. Is there a way to duplicate an impact instrument, without making the duplicated track actually attached to the first instrument?
Interesting. I saw that you can click on the instrument (kick drum, hi hat, etc.) and there is an option to have S1 fill every 2nd step which could be handy.
I was really hoping that SO would be better in this regard. I hope that 7.0 completely rethinks a lot of things. It's utility in beat making is weak. Almost an after thought.
What do you find lacking? I have used a lot of programs and ST1 stacks up well. Not trying to argue, but perhaps theere is something you are missing. One nice thing about ST1 is that you are not locked into one method for making beats. Most of my beats are done using Sampler instead so that i can pitch drums. This template is ok for demo purposes but does not show full power
@@christopherwilliams3293 i hear you. I find when DAWs try to emulate other DAWs it usually feels like a cheap knockoff. When I want that sort of thing , I just use the free Ableton Lite and bring into studio one.
It would be better if each Impact XT pad could turn into a complete Sample One XT session (like Simpler in Drum Rack in Ableton). Sample XT needs some tweaks too. No ADSR envelope and no proper fade in and fade out is straight up dumb. Studio One 7 better good
Studio One is amazing and Joe and Gregor make it easy to learn.
Brilliant!! Thank you!
Thank you so much Joe! I can start using this now for my compositions. Love it!

Where in the drum pattern can you change the panning? I'm really hoping for Studio One Pro 7

Hello Joe! Is it possible to create a beat in 7/4? or 3/4? The patern seems to be blocked at 16 steps or multiples of 4... Thanks for your help!

Everything I do is in Studio One Professional
We need a how to tutorial
About
Live looping and recording any lenghth we like from it to another Audio Track
Like inside Abelton live

@russelledwards2405 I, in particular, was hoping for like a Logic Pro live looping feature or an Ableton Live session view feature.

You never produced a beat before? You're going to produce one today!
Everybody hold on to something ! I saw this once in a cartoon! 😁
I can't seem to find that shortcut pattern insert deal....nevermind. I found it.

You made a KJV loop!
HOPE S1 7.0 WILL BE BETTER
This is cool but the drum sounds in impact are lame!
Yep. The kits on GarageBand are better. I've started programming drums on there and importing them into Studio 1.
not a fan of the kits, but i have so many drums it doesn't matter
You can easily use your own sounds. Make them all cats, farts, kazoos, or donkeys……..or drums
If you have Battery it is really easy to create kits of any type.
@ what is Battery? Sounds like something I need 🤔
