Wow... three things come to mind… A lot of land, a good amount of money and a ton of blessings from all that hard work. Thanks for sharing this great video.
@@gfinnstrom It really does but it's definitely cool! I was taken back to the 80s movie War Games or better yet a James Bond movie. Yep a lot of money tied up in that room not to mention the maintenance schedule for all of the stuff including the antenna farm.
Beyond impressive. Thank you! As for the comments on *Amateur* - Ham Operators are Professionals and are held to that standard by FCC Regulation and Proctored Testing by the FCC Examiners and affiliated Examiners of the ARRL (VE/VECs). We, as Ham Operators, are Classified as Amateurs because we can not, under penalty of law, to be compensated or renumerated in any way shape or form for what we do as Radio Operators on our awarded and designated frequencies, earned through the testing Classes (2,3,4 or Technician, General, Extra) that are regulated by the Federal Government by way of the FCC.
Well this just took the wind out of my sails. I was feeling pretty good about my Rohn push up poles for dipoles and my DX Engineering 43' all band vertical. My station has a "Long way to go!" Hi LOL 73
Wow, lots of planning, effort, and dollars into that station. The radio is only as good as the antenna network it's attached to it, and there's a lot of antennas there to attach to it. Nice video.
Looks almost like an amateur version of a Naval Communication Station. "Amateur" is a bit of a lie of sorts; very professional in execution even if used for amateur purposes. Wow! 73 de AE5ZX
Obviously lots and lots of money have been involved. The whole place looks like a military communication centre, forget the word "radio amateur", there is nothing amateur about this station. A great desire to "show off" to the world, that's it
This proves that Amateur Radio like most things is controlled by $$$ MONEY $$$ and the little guy doesn"t have a snowballs chance in hell of winning a contest total BULLSHIT. We put these people up on pedestals like some kind of gods.
You did a great job with the video, too bad all that technology is wasted on hams lying to each other about signal reports and exchanging useless information. Great idea about the wall warts and linear power supplies.
Thanks Randy for the great insight into a great award-winning station & setup.
Thanks to Tim for the peek!
Wow! After seeing K3LR's setup, the term "amateur radio" doesn't quite seem fitting.
Wow... three things come to mind… A lot of land, a good amount of money and a ton of blessings from all that hard work. Thanks for sharing this great video.
Not too shabby. The only problem is...you can't do a SOTA activation with that setup. Too cumbersome to carry up a mountain.
This crossed over from a hobby to a full-time job. It looks like the inside of a military radio room. Very nice but very involved.

now that you mentioned it yes it does or from a secret war movie KB7PPW

So many antennas!
To have just 1 directional antenna is every hams dream!

Love the antenna farm and the radio shack 👍

Worked K3LR in many contests. Always fun, top notch operators and S meter kicking signal. Really nice station. K4DSB

Amazing Setup, I got the space but not the Funds! Wow, thanks for sharing! De WV1Q AL in the Magnolia State
Randy, thank You for another excellent video. It makes my 40 metre dipole at 1.5 metres above ground, look comical in comparison.
What a treat Randy, great video. Haven't seen anything like this except maybe Quement Electronics in San Jose CA.

Wow, God bless you, this is so huge, God protect you.

At what point is it no longer considered "amatuer" ? As much as I appreciate antenna farms, something seems off with this.
How much maintenance goes on there ? WOW ...

Tim has an amazing setup. Hope one day to put him in my log and also to visit DXE and his station. 73 WB3BJU

Thanks for the tour Randy! WOW, just doesn’t seem like it quite describes it...
Is that what they mean by "Aluminum Overcast"?
K3LR is a beautiful station I would love to go visit and be able to operate it . That would be so cool. 73 AE4OY WILLIAM EM-81UF

Cool station, especially antennas, I will be glad to meet at ranges
Did tim build the mono band amps? That's bad ass they look like some quality built boxes.
Not sure. He has a team of guys that help with projects.
@@K7AGE ah that's awesome. They look well built that's for sure.

One hell of a command center there!
What's the monthly electric bill? Inquiring minds want to know.
I don’t think that is an issue.

Is this in PA next to i80? Pretty sure I've passed it a few times.
Yes it is. You can see it from 80.

Tim did well in the early days of cellphone operations.
Good setotion
Nice, very Nice. One small note, the feedlines are Heliax, not coax. ( 02:34 and 02:48 ) Heliax is far superior than coax.
Heliax is still coaxial cable.
