I once got my elbow stuck in the window of an old red-rattler. I started to panic as my station was coming up. Finally worked it out by straightening my arm. Lesson learned.
Hi Phil, great seeing more train scenes on the Bankstown line, especially the heritage trains. Love the F1 Red Set, which brings back fond memories of my days back in the 1960s riding those trains along the line. I had both relatives and friends living at Lakemba back in those days. Seeing a steam train on the Bankstown is quite unique. Glad you included Marrickville on this video, which was actually my old stomping ground back before moving in mid 1981. I remember seeing Parcel Van trains using that goods line at Marrickville back in the 1960s and 1970s. I must admit, seeing a steam train pass through Marrickville is definitely a first for me. Very interesting indeed. Anyway, wishing you the very best. Rob in Melbourne Australia.
I saw so many photographers taking pictures of the heritage train when I was there at lakemba also at Bankstown when many people were getting onboard to take that heritage train
I actually went to central on Saturday and I saw the Steam train at central I was there to get to go to Circular quay and when I came back to Central to get a V set to parramatta I saw the Red Rattler next to an Oscar it was so cool!
On Saturday 14/9 I caught from Central to Marrickville for the first and last time. Took a brisk walk up the street, but not eating time so did not sit down. There were 2 long lines, one for the Vietnamese pork rolls and one for tea drinks. It was a pity the Marrickville Metro is a long way from the station. I then caught the train back to Erskineville to have another walk locally.

Hi Phil. Great coverage of this heritage Bankstown line weekend. Noticed quite a few other like-minded train enthusiasts at the various stations where you filmed. A quick question: how do you know in advance the movement of freight trains - when and where they are going to be?
Ah, a red rattler on the Bankstown via Regents Park … how typical, my least favourite service as a kid on the inner west line … except this time it's not "all stations" haha

I have heard that the Bankstown train line may be closing on September 30. So, if that is correct, time is running out.

At sartday i saw s set did you😊
It was great seeing the trains from a different angle then what I saw. Did you happen to film the Sunday ones as well?
How often do these events occur? I'm in Sydney in March 25, will there be anything on at all?
Phil, will you have a look at each station in depth once the line re-openes by the end of 2025?
Sure will :)
Does anyone know why the S28 run was cancelled?
And where was Xplorer set #2 going to?
Which S28? The one on Sat Sept 21st? The very last passenger train?
