Really solid video. I would also like to add the following as detrimental to the BL2 experience:
Barrels, Poor assault rifle damage, DoT damage scaling for player and enemies, Grog Nozzle being mandatory

Honestly I think legendaries don’t drop enough in bl2 and bl3 drops em too much. Like I hate spending 2 hours to get one gun that may or may not be the version I’m even looking for. It’s not a fun process and idk why people defend it so much.

If a BL2 remake was made in the thirds engine, I think they should consider the following (imo):
    - NVHM and TVHM alongside mayhem modes did way better than 3 fucking playthrus and up to 10 OP levels with an atrocious level gap
    - Implement the movement system BL3 had, like mantling and sliding
    - Drop rates massively increased (or maybe in the form of a new vault hunter relic in each playthru)
    - Optimize the mayhem level mob scallings so that slag is NOT obligatory
    - Iridium could perhaps be used to purchase limited time cosmetics or legendary items in Crazy Earl (sort of like the Vet rewards)
    - Option to skip cutscenes lol

I get your first couple points about the playthroughs and the level grinding, but you have to remember, BL2 evolved over time. The original level cap was 50, and that could easily be reached after the original two playthroughs. It wasn't until players demanded higher levels, harder enemies, and more for BL2 to give us UVHM, including getting to the point where overpower was a thing. Of course these things were already implemented by the time BL3 was conceived, so naturally they were applied to BL3 from the get-go. Unfortunately, that wasn't the case for BL2, as 2 playthroughs was considered the original "end game". Once all the DLC came out, including the Head Hunters and Digistruct Peak stuff, that's when BL2 opened up big time. Sure, it wasn't perfect by any measure, as it was a Frankenstein's monster of sorts, but the fact that players keep going back to BL2 for multiple playthroughs and no BL3 should say something. It's just overall a more enjoyable experience, despite its minor flaws. I mean, BL2 came out 12 years ago, and it is mass a massive online audience to this day. On Steam, BL2 on average has more players than BL3 as of this month, so whether you like it or not, the overall experience in BL2 is what draws people back. Flaws and all. ;)

This video isn't meant to be a 'borderlands 3 is better than Borderlands 2' hit piece. Simply just talking about borderlands 2's flaws. Each game does different things better, I'm not about to try and say which one is the best. That's just stupid

    • @jcsjapan
      @jcsjapan 3 месяца назад +2

@@ConstantCanadian No, I get that, as the rest of your points were more poignant, as they are still realities despite all of the updates and "fixes". haha. I was just defending the first two points you addressed, because they were unfortunate results of the Frankenstein monster of updates and "fixes". I remember when UVHM released, fans were so happy, so it is hard for me to see that playthrough as a negative thing in retrospect. Sure, it would have been nice to have it in there to begin with, but that wasn't the case, and there wasn't anything they could do to retcon that without completely changing the playthrough system. The same goes with the level grinding. Getting to 50 was pretty easy, so they amped things up in UVHM and probably did the lower XP output to give fans more time to play while they worked on BL3. Sure, I can agree with you if those things were initially put into the game to begin with, it would have been nicer, but that wasn't the case. It was a product of many updates, paid DLC, and much more that evolved BL2 into what it is today, and generally, fans like it as it is now. It's not perfect, but it is wide and varied where it is now, if that makes sense.

    • @jcsjapan

@@pacthe6376 I didn't say BL3 was a failure. Just simply pointing out that most BL fans gravitate towards BL2 at the end of the day. It has the best Sanctuary (At least in my opinion), more stuff to do, and a healthier drop rate for Legendaries. Sure, BL3 has the smoother gameplay, better mechanics, and excellent skill trees, but the characters were not nearly as fleshed out at BL2, killing Maya was a major mistake, Ava is about as unlikable as a character can get, the Calypso twins were AWFUL (In a bad way, from a storytelling perspective), and Legendaries dropped all of the time and were often not very good, making them lose their prestige.
Don't get me wrong, I completely understand that the fluidity of gameplay in BL3 is why hardcore fans stay there, but there is also a huge chunk of fans that gravitate towards BL2 for all the reasons BL3 drops the ball. I hope that makes sense. Not knocking BL3. Just being real.

Bl3 felt like off, I agree the gameplay and build diversity was amazing, but at the same time I feel like the game throws an annoying amount of legendaries at you. Like I feel like I didn’t earn the weapons I used. Also I love the concept of slag, I get it’s annoying you have to use it once you reach uvhm but I don’t mind considering how easy it is to incorporate in almost any build. The debuff aspect of slag is awesome and I feel they should reintroduce it, but not make it necessary, just an option to kill faster if you choose to use it. I really just wish they didn’t lose the charm of the franchise but I feel like once the games left pandora it started to feel off. I’m also not a huge fan of the new writing, shit use to be crass but at least funny. Now the jokes are all stinkers.

One more thing that is not mentioned is the weapon parts when farming for guns. It varies based on guns but:
    - The game has a high chance NOT to give you an accessory. This is important for guns like Sand hawk which requires the Flying prefix or shotguns which require the extra 2 pellets for example.
    - If the gun can spawn with both elemental and non-elemental, the game has a high chance NOT to give you an element. Elemental matching is obviously important in the end game.
This is why farming for a good Sand Hawk can take a lot of patience. It is even worse for guns that are not quest reward and with a low drop rate from dedicated source. Why punish the player?

BL2 is considered the GOAT for a lot of reasons, but the main reason is the story and characters. BL2's writing is the best of the whole bunch, with The Pre-Sequel being a close second. BL1 got things started, but it just feels incredibly lacking now with BL2 and BL3 being out. BL3 in regards to gameplay is the best, without question, but the story is a drag. The twins are just annoying in all the wrong ways, and it is unfortunate that Handsome Jack set the bar so high for an interesting villain in BL2. I also felt like the quests in BL3 weren't any better than BL2, but frankly, they felt worse because the main story was lacking, which means the side stories were often lacking as well.
BL3 is definitely still worth playing. It doesn't have the longevity of BL2, but there is a ton of content, loads of legendaries, and the gameplay is the best it has ever been in BL3. I still find myself going back to BL2 way more now, but I do jump on BL3 every so often for the excellent gameplay.

    That’s clear linear progression.
In order to unlock hardest parts of any game, you usually have to process through progressively harder challenges.

In BL2 it feels like the game don´t wont to show me the "Real Stuff". For other people is the way BL3 gives you these tons of loot a negativ point but not for me: these loot is the identity of this game. I also played Wonderlands and liked it but , besides the blood/gore i missed, i got no NOOOO really amazing Legendary Weapon. I got a few ones in my bag but they are not very special , they just puttin out a bit more DMG but WHO THE FUCK are the crazy effects. In BL 3 i got over 400 different Legendarys in my chest and its gettin more.
the 2 reason againts BL2 is the importent one - the traveling system !!!!!! its absoluty dogshit !!!! i`m running over the same maps again and again and kills the same enemy again and again. sometimes i really want to play BL 2 , espacially because its a harder and sometimes the my partner and i really gettin our asses kicked -> these f**** Helicopters for example. But we like this. Hard work for hard loot ;) but sometimes i look at the map and the mission - see the enemys far away and 1 sec later -> ALT F4.
