Hello Chris and Carol. I also subscribe to your channel. Northern India is phenomenal, I did 4 weeks through there in 2016. Delhi, Jaisalmer, Udaipur, Jodhpur, Jaipur, Pushkar, Varanasi, Agra. Towering forts, stunning palaces, villages, animals, food, history, culture. I'd be happy to answer any questions.
India is a league when it comes to explore.. we have everything snowy mountains, glaciers, Cold desert, Hot Desert, Salt Desert, Mangroves, Rivers, Plains, Remotest Village, World's olders Cities etc...
Traveled from Manali to Leh in 2006, the most amazing place in the world. Probably totally different now unfortunately with the overtourism. Thanks for the video
Now it is much better because of the construction of world'd highest tunnel at 10,000 fet in Manali dissecting the Rohtang Pass, it is 12km Long and road connectivity is also much better
Great work Man. Steep mountains, uneven road, bumpy journey, camera in one hand and vlogging simultaneously. You made everything perfect. Even though with that camera back in 2014.
Whoa, those lorries on the edge of the precipice...my nerves were well and truly jangled. However; fantastic scenery and Gabriel's love of precarious adventures; is always exciting😊
No it's doesn't the tunnel just connects manali to Lahaul valley. There are many passes after Rohtang pass which still gets blocked in the winter. So you still cannot go to Leh in winter from Manali.
Warning: Gabe you'll be getting a lot of Pakistani comments trying to convince this is not India and that it is Pakistan. Dont fall for it. You're title is absolutely right.
Beautifully crafted video of context, space, colour accuracy and above all capturing the ethos of the place with text, narration and great ethnic music. Expect more such videos from Gabriel.
Epic journey. Imagine Alexander and his troops did something similar without proper roads. I'm not fit enough now to do a journey like that so I appreciate the chance to see it on YT.
Alexander had only crossed the mountains of Afghanistan, he never made it to mainland India. He had to retreat after the battle of Hydaspes from Indus River region
GABE that´s an EPIC trip back from 2014. I´ll watch the rest tomorrow (on minute 5:10) as I´m totally beat after a 68 kilometer mountain biking outing today after 14 months of nothing. Hitting the hay in 10 minutes. GOOD GOING GABE!
GABE what´s up! Great to see you are uploading vlogs more frequently now an}d in my case I really dig the ones about India and if you have any unused footage of Nepal that would be AWESOME! Just got back from a 68 kilometer mountain biking outing with a good ole friend after 14 months of not doing so. It was so good to be back out there with my bud and even took my GoPro to document part of this so I can put a vlog together about Colombia and this.
Looks like this is the trip that your current display picture if from haha! Cool adventure, my dad always told me how wild Kashmir and Ladakh region was in his trips
These are beautiful places, visiting them with you is enjoyable. Planning travelling too, just having son with autism, it would be so hard for him hearing loud noices of car horns in India but I will not give up, journey is possible for us ! Just need to adjust it for him.Take care!
I'm happy you rehashed this video because never saw it and knew you went there. Cool adventure. How did you hitchhike to Kargil and did you pay anything?
After I spent the night in Sonamarg I got out onto the road to try and catch a jeep, because I knew there were shared jeeps that went from Srinigar all the way to Leh. So I was counting on one of them having space. There was a long line of cars and jeeps with passengers waiting for the pass to open up, so I went down the line asking everyone but the jeeps were all full to the brim. Then I came across those two guys in the white car and asked them if they were going to Ladakh and they said yes and offered me a ride. They didn't ask me to pay anything, but when we arrived in Kargil I offered to pay them them what I would have paid for the jeep ride, which was maybe 600 rupees or something, $10.
Hi Gabriel, have you thought about making a redwood national park hiking video? Isnt that something that you can easily reach from your home? Or maybe you already have such a video and i just havent seen
Hi Gabe-Unrelated to this video, I have a question. Doing the EBC trek, everyone makes their way to Gorakshep then on the same day, they make their way to EBC and back to Gorakshep. Then the following morning they do Kalapathar. That first day seems taxing to me. Is there any reason why you couldn't go to Gorakshep and spend the night then go to EBC the next day and back to Gorakshep for another night and then do Kalapathar the following morning? So spend two nights in Gorakshep instead of one? Thanks.
I've done that trek. From what I remember, EBC is not very far from Gorakshep, maybe one hour? So the only downside to your idea would be all the down time on your 2nd day in Gorakshep. When I was there in November 2017 it was WELL below freezing and the accommodations were way more basic than at most elevations. I was glad to only spend one night in Gorakshep.
@@bomcdwll Thanks Bo. I think you are correct and it's only an hour or two but that's after your trek to get there....5 hours or something maybe? I think you are probably right as it appears to be just some wooden panels and can be sleepless nights so you get in and out. I am glad you weighed in that you were glad to spend only one night there....it provides insight. Thanks again.
Hi, I am Indian, and from your vlogs I understand that you have visited India quite a few times. So I just wanted to ask if you have visited West Bengal yet? It is a lovely state (my home land), and there is a lot to see here. If you haven't definitely visit it on your next trip here. much love
sir , without knowing the history of Kashmir ,how can you say India Kashmir...it's occupied kashmir (occupied by both India and Pakistan). please go through with history
Shut up. Kashmir is India's. By the way this is ladakh. Ladakh people's are happy with India. If you're not happy with us then you can move to Pakistan.
Please a humble correction, Jammu Kashmir is disputed country, its not india Pakistan or China but divided JK. Our demand reunification and complete independence of forcibly divided and occupied paradise JammuKashmir by greedy neighbors
This is ladakh. Ladakh is India's. Ladakh people's are happy with us. They never demanded / demanding or Support any so called freedom. Ladakh has never supported your useless demand 😂😛 Yes, they opposed (particularly kargil) the decision of UT. but leh people welcomed.
Educate yourself about the place before visiting and traveling through it. That is the least you can do to avoid factual mistakes like writing Kashmir, India in your content. Kashmir is a disputed region from last more than 7 decades, having witnessed tens of thousands of killings, torture, enforced disappearances, mass blinding, and mass rapes. Writing Kashmir, India as your location is tantamount to writing Palestine, Israel and Algeria, France.

7 years since this trip you made, and there's now a tunnel on the way between Manali and Leh that connects the two all year round!!
Wow, amazing. I hadn't heard about that tunnel. What a trip. Here it is:

It's "Bollywood Trip 1" by Magnus Ringblom, from the Epidemic Sound website. Good stuff eh? All of the other music is listed in the description.
What are your next plans? How long are you going to travel for? We are about the same age and I wonder these things.
