Diwali is celebrated by Hindus, Jains, Sikhs, and Newar Buddhists, although for each of them it marks different historical events and stories, but nonetheless the festival represents the same symbolic victory of light over darkness, knowledge over ignorance, and good over evil.
In Jain, Diwali is celebrated in observance of "Mahavira Nirvana Divas", the physical death and final nirvana of Mahavira, the 24th Tirthankar of current time cycle.
Sikhs celebrate Bandi Chhor Divas in remembrance of the release of Guru Hargobind from the Gwalior Fort prison by the Mughal emperor Jahangir and the day he arrived at the Golden Temple in Amritsar.
Diwali is not a festival for most Buddhists, with the exception of the Newar people of Nepal who revere various deities in Vajrayana Buddhism and celebrate Diwali by offering prayers to Lakshmi.

Mobile data is extremely cheap in India, For e,g, you can get 2.5 GB per day for 28 days (total 70 GB) for Rs 399. The speed and coverage is also good. It makes sense if you are staying for a month especially as a content creator. Having an Indian SIM also enables you to book train tickets online. The SIM may even be valid on your next visit. I think the charge is Rs 20 per month to keep it active.
They now allow foreign tourists to have the UPI payment service. You can deposit money and the hassle of carrying cash and having change is solved. All vendors, taxi, rickshaw have UPI.

My advice when you arrive at Delhi Airport: change 50 USD/EUR at the Exchange just in case none of the ATMs are working - which was the case for me when I arrived there. Also The tourist office at the train station has moved 200 meters along the street. The gate appears closed sometimes and scammers just wait to bait you to another location to sell their services. (Edit: So apperently they re-opened the tourist office in the train station)
