Here in Finland we actually have a strong heritage of doing sad or tragic topic up-tempo and vice versa. It is how to cope.

Its a mountain range. In my first hanggliding licence it said " Not valid in Ural mountain". There you go.

Wow, I am Finnish and I have never heard the whole song! The national pride and sense of identity among Finns flourished just before Russia attacked Finland. Later, some Finns and neighboring peoples wanted to unite as Greater Finland. This meant that Finns wanted to reclaim the territories unfairly occupied by Russia, and there was a dream of ending Russian domination by supporting the neighboring peoples. I vaguely remember learning about this in history class, but I could be wrong. Nowadays, this is not something people dream about or talk about, at least on this side of the border.
For the same reason, the Finnish language was long forbidden in schools in the northern parts of Sweden and Norway. I have heard and seen documentaries about this. Students received harsh punishments for speaking Finnish in schools-detentions and even corporal punishment. Our dear neighbors were concerned about rising national sentiment and the desire of Finnic peoples to unite with Finland in Scandinavia.

About the second paragraph: That wasn't the reason at all. At that time, there was a strange notion that you can only learn one language well, and the Swedish policy was that everyone should learn Swedish as well as possible, and thus be equal in every sense. The policy was, of course, just horrible, and the underlying ideology based on a totally wrong assumption. Luckily, Finland didn't have exactly the same policy, although the Sami peoples were, in truth, treated similarly for a long time.

Why England was because they promised aid to defend, but they never revised it. So they joined Germany, due Churchill broke the promises he made to Mannerheim. You can read the telegrams which Churchill made to Mannerheim.

Fabian J, Could you make a video about the band called Värttinä? They play folk music, and their songs are usually in the Karelian dialect of Finnish. They have toured both in Finland and internationally.

This is probably a sensitive topic, especially given the current global situation. No one wants to provoke the big angry bear any further.
