0:34 This may be a redundant release, but at least the individual seasons DVDs are NOT getting a re-release anytime soon. Shout! Factory seams to be the only company worldwide that ever made individual seasons DVDs for Rocko's Modern Life.
@@andykishore Yeah but you know where I'm from, and I'm saying that we got individual seasons of Rocko! But only season 1-3, season 4 was only available in a box set that came out in 2018! And that's what I have!! 😁
Can you do a visual comparison between the Shout! Factory one and this one? I have the SF one but IDK if I should get this new one. Does it have better quality?
+CoyoteMontana I'm not really expecting the video quality to be that much different. Seeing as i don't own the reissue i cannot personally verify myself if the quality is any better or not.
+CoyoteMontana I have both of them myself, and especially in the case of Rocko as it appears that the reissue is a step down in terms of extras. Also, i really like the case art more not to mention that the discs are much better with actually having artwork.
Thanks for unboxing this. I need to buy this version. Charlie adler (mr. And mrs. Bighead) will be at the Philadelphia comic con. The fact the discs are gray makes them better for autographs
Someone else on this video has mentioned that the CatDog complete series set is apparently being discontinued and no longer available on Shout! Factory's website, this leads me to believe that their Nickelodeon distribution deal that was struck with Paramount/Viacom back in 2011 is close to expiring soon. If this is the case, then I wouldn't be surprised if the other shows that they have will be discontinued as well. It appears this is so because Rocko's Modern Life and Hey Arnold! were the first ones to go, and as such is now being listed for crazy prices on Amazon and the like. This might point to Shout! eventually losing The Angry Beavers, AAAHH!!! Real Monsters, Danny Phantom, Hey Dude and The Wild Thornberrys. With this new development it may lead to Paramount getting the rights back to all of these one by one and releasing them again themselves. Note: I just checked Shout's store to confirm and only the individual seasons are available now with the complete series completely gone. I'm really glad that i decided to buy it right after release back in late 2014, because it was the way to go for an all in one package as getting all the separate season sets would've taken a lot longer. That's been the case with me for all the classic Nicktoons releases from Shout!, because getting the entire series for just a little more was better than taking forever buying all of the seasons piecemeal especially with those split up into Part releases which i'm not that big a fan of, albeit with some exceptions like shows which comprise seasons that have large chunks of episodes that just couldn't be crammed into one set.
Sorry to see a few special features missing, but I love the artwork and poster, which is why I got this new reissue. Also, Nickelodeon is really serious on whether stuff sells or not. Fans should get this mostly because if it doesn't sell, Rocko has no future. Rocko needs all the support he can get.
Is There Any Screenshots Of DVD Menus Of This Reissue Because We All Know That Shout Factory Has DVD Menus For The Original Release Of Rocko’s Modern Life The Complete Series On DVD
I have stated previously that there is no reason for me to get this reissue as i already own Shout! Factory's set, but with that said it can't be denied that the cover artwork looks pretty decent. The extras are exactly the same as the previous release so there is nothing new beyond what is already available. Better yet, why not add new stuff like archival promos or behind the scenes clips of the voice actors/actresses performing their characters back in the day and the story boarders/background artists doing their thing. I would say that this set is good for those who missed out on the individual season sets or complete series, but if you have either of the former two then this Paramount version is overall unnecessary. So long story short, i will just stick with my Shout! complete series set as this one appears to be a redundant release based upon those things i mentioned above.
First comment! Also, I also used my money to order both Hey Arnold and this one last Saturday from Best Buy's website and they both should be coming in the mail real soon!

+Kelly Mcabee It also seems that there is much a greater degree of people who watched the show as kids back in the day who much prefer Steve's era over Joe, i grew up watching the show in that time and even when Joe came along i didn't dislike him as much as some others did.
I want the original versions that were uncensored. How can we get the complete series before Nickolodeon removed the funny stuff they thought was not for kids. This cartoon series was more for adults and then they modified it and took out the funny parts.
My girlfriend at the time got me the shout factory version last year for Christmas but i don’t want to get the Paramount version it looks crappy,I’ll probably just find a poster online somewhere else
I checked out the shout factory website and they seem to have stopped carrying catdog the complete series so shout factory might soon lose the rights to the series and paramount might rerealese the set
Yeah that is unfortunate, and I suspect that Paramount may reissue it. I see it's already going for ridiculous prices on Amazon and eBay now. I recommend everyone who has a copy holds on to it for now just in case Paramount doesn't reissue it (or if you don't care too much about it, sell it now for a very easy profit).

Jackson Huffstetler I think there is one less bonus feature on the newest release (I forget which one), but other than that there are no differences (besides different artwork).

+andykishore If i recall correctly they have only put out the first five seasons on Amazon so far, the later seasons with the second Midnight Society have not been released.
Paramount has released the first four seasons, though it's still up in the air if they are going to do the other five which includes the less well regarded post-Dil and later Kimi episodes
+MorganTyler86 It seems people who watched the original run or shortly thereafter say that was the high point in the series run, although the first movie wasn't too bad a lot of fans will say that once Dil came along that it began to slide downward. Others will point to when Kimi was introduced in Rugrats in Paris that the supposed real decline in quality started. Personally, even though i was never a huge fan of Rugrats as a kid i would still say that the early seasons are the best and the post movie episodes are okay but not quite as good. At no point would i say it got really bad per se, but it's clear that they were running short on ideas by the series' end in 2004.
+Alex W Ikr, that's another thing that Shout! Factory's releases of these old Nick shows have over Paramount's versions. They actually bothered with putting artwork on the discs which just looks so much better than the dullness we see here. It's the same story with other companies especially with Disney, compare what they do now on most of their releases to on their much earlier DVD's from over a decade ago when they spared no expense putting beautiful colorful artwork on the discs.
Justin Middleton Good explanation. When J’s Blu Rays unboxed How The Grinch Stole Christmas which is the newest video on his channel, think that both discs were gray but WB didn’t make them gray. Gray discs are sometimes confusing on which disc is which.
+Alex W Good to see that not all of the companies' home video departments are doing that, it's just so unappealing when they don't put artwork of some kind on there.
