I just got back from 10 days in Ladahk with 3 mates, 1 with almost no riding experience: Nubra Valley, Kardung La, Pangong & Tsomoriri Lakes, the Karakoram Range, camel ride in the world's highest desert. It really was amazing although the altitude was much harder than I expected. We booked with "Motorcycle Escapades" & had a guide, a mechanic and a third bloke driving the backup ute with our bags and an oxygen bottle. Bikes, petrol, accommodation, back up and 2 meals/day all for US$1,250. 1340kms at an average speed of 35 kph. Several near misses on the ever variable roads but I can't recommend it enough. Do it while you can.
You’ve done a phenomenal job depicting the country and the experience but most importantly highlighting how absolutely doable travel in India and Asia is and how motorcycling is the ultimate way to do it.
This video is ridiculously well made and also is so important in the world of flashy travellers who make every reasonable travel look boring. Thank you for this!
I went on a trip to the Himalayas last year and after coming back I wanted to make a how to guide like this as there are so many companies offering tours that cost thousands and I understand why they exist but there are other ways. If you’re prepared to do a bit of research beforehand anyone can do it for a lot less. I had no guide and instead went with my brother. Got to Ladakh, acclimatised, found a good deal on some bikes, asked around for some routes and then we were off. The major issue that I have found (not in India though) is that western tour companies have set up in lots of countries so when trying to search for a bike to rent online they are offering western bikes for stupid prices and these bikes really have no place in these countries. Anyway thanks for the video! The community really appreciates it. :) Would be happy to tag along to one of these if you do one again.
I've watched a lot of your videos, and I have to say, not downplaying your others, I got so much from this. Thank you for showing all the bumps and scrapes as well as the triumphs. No excuses to not get off the couch. ;^)
I travelled India in this way over a few years, and it's such a great experience. To stretch your budget stay even longer, stay as long as you can. Don't one and done it if you have the option, there are hundreds of absolutely epic destinations in India, with the South often under appreciated for how adventure friendly it is.
I did more or less this trip back in 98. This video captures it incredibly well. I had similar backtracks due to closed roads. Crazy traffic. Near misses. Weird taxi rides. Unbearable heat. Riding all day to cover just 200 km. Altitude headaches that feel like driving your head into a crack in a rock with a mallet. I think about that trip every day.
We've got a 7 day trip to the High Atlas mountains in Morocco booked for less than £950 each for flights, bikes and all hotels. Probably another £150 for food and fuel. Marrakech bike hire is very plentiful. We hope to have an adventure as good as yours looked but won't be producing such a good film about it. Well done Joe for completing that trip! Even the easiest multi-day bike trips can be physically, mentally and emotionally draining for anyone never mind a complete beginner.
Well done guys, very happy that Joe survived his baptism of fire n ice.. good call on the early turnaround and taking care of your mate👍 Thanks for sharing
This was really special and your content turned up to 11 guys. Having just come back from a 10 day ride and camp getaway to a relatively tame place, you really inspire people to go further, and to do it despite the perceived cost or difficulty or personal comfort level. Two thumbs up!!!👍👍
What a criminally underrated channel. My favorite bike-themed one, only after Fort-Nine, and yes, I watch 44Teeth and other big ones, too. What a trip. What amazing views and imagery. Certainly didn't feel broke on the production. Big thumbs up again for amazing content!👌🏻
@@BrakeMagazine For sure! Currently restoring my '88 650cc Africa Twin. When done, happy to join for any muddy riding, and would lend it for a classic test review for the channel in the UK! (I'm in the Midlands, but can ride over). I'm on Insta with the same username if interested. Ta! ✌🏻
Brilliant! I lived and worked in India 40 years ago and the roads are just as bad now but the driving faster than then. I loved every minute of it. I did a Blazing Trails trip 24 years ago on the dreadful 350 Bullet. Terrible bike but magical. A true life experience and the people made it for me.
Had the pleasure of being instructed by Llel while on a GS in Wales. Top bloke. Really enjoyed this; don’t think India is my thing but now I’m not so sure after watching this. Great stuff, thanks for the video!
Sometimes I skip thumb nails and move on. a while later I may go back. I’m glad I did with this one! Absolutely epic! I won’t miss another. Fantastic viewing. Outstanding job.👍🏻
As others have said , just a thoroughly enjoyable film of an absolutely epic trip with a low barrier to entry. Also your hair at 14:45 is the perfect analog to the high altitude mountains that were kicking your butt at that moment.
Thoroughly enjoyed watching this and I have absolutely no ambition to follow (I learnt to ride 45 years ago in central London but Delhi was insane). Lovin' ya work....
Epic scenes and story telling ! I really felt like I was with you on the journey experiencing all that India could throw at you. True adventure comes with all the situational risk and it was great to see how you handled this as a team.
Awesome video Llel. Its wonderful to see India through your perspective . I have done all 3 Route options multiple times as I am based out of Delhi, but seeing everything from your lens was so refreshing. And the storytelling on this one is next level. See a lot of effort that has been put in . Cheers !
An honest travelogue with no fuss. We loved it! And nice stuff huh, that Kriega. We are big fans of the products. We look forward to your next videos. Keep up the good work!
First class film, encompassing everything we all want to do, but time and money stops the vast majority of normal folk, this proves it can be done. You got the balance spot on, from location, getting there, to rider level, we’ve all had days where we are following a very experienced group and feel totally out of your depth, making decisions based on the least experienced was 100% right 👌👍
Truly incredible video! Props to Joe taking on a trip like this, would be tough no matter how experienced you are. Amazing channel, awesome story telling and editing, thank you for sharing this fellas!
I am glad that you were able to enjoy the country. Kudos to Ray for his efforts, get well soon mate! To put it in a perspective of what you have accomplished, I have been riding in the Himalayas for almost 15 years and my first ride happened 7 years after I got my license. It's not for the beginners. Hope you come back again!
Well done Joe, amazing journey mate, if you can ride there you can ride anywhere. I used to have a real hunger for motorcycle adventure in various countries throughout the world, but I've lost that mojo. Don't know if it's an age thing, so thanks for showing me somewhere I'll probably never ride. If a German guy can ride for 3 months across India and is now in Nepal riding an electric Zero bike anything is possible.👍
I did 10 months in Bathinda Punjab province with work. It’s a tough country. The heat is intense, the people are wonderful for the most part. You will be amazed at what little people need to survive. Never ever drink the water and be very/very careful what you eat. The garbage and public sanitation is just terrible. Once you get the swing of it…it is what it is you are not going to change it, so just go with the flow 🤷♂️🤷♂️🤷♂️🤷♂️
Another great video dude, Hoping to do the Himalayas in a couple of years. As a newish rider I can relate. Thank god for the MTB helping cope with sketchy terrain. India looks insane!!! Especially when tired. Hope you enjoyed the ABR Festival. We had a great time. That crash was sketchy!! Felt for him.
Great video and experience. We travelled to Italy a few years back, on my 916. Many good memories crossing the alps. Always as you say on a budget. I managed to get 76mpg out of the bike although this was on fast motorways. Loved the details you put about the costs and highs and lows. I can see when you look back alot of it is covered and wont be lost. I have already shared with my friends. Thanks again for making this
What a fantastic trip and at an eye opening price! Thanks for sharing the info, I’ve already shared to my riding buddy as a ‘next adventure’ for us 😊. Terrific filming and editing to capture such a trip all in 30 mins 👍
Incredible video. The mountains are welcoming yet unforgiving. Last year while coming back from the Spiti valley (your plan A) , my front brake line gave up. Had to ride my KTM Duke 390 from Manali to Chandigarh only on the rear brake. No matter how much you prepare for the ride, the mountains always have a different plan for you. Keep up the good work.
An absolutely brilliant edit Llel. This must have taken ages and the adventure looked so, so awesome. This is genuinely one of the best ADV vids I’ve seen for a long time and Brake Magazine is quickly reaching the dizzy heights of Fortnine’s level of editing, a level us mere mortals strive to reach. 100k plaque coming your way soon too I see 👏🏻 It’s not all praise though; your t-shirt at 1:23 is terrible.
What marvellous story telling. Llel you should be a voiceover artist, that was a roller coaster of a ride for a travelogue linked and illuminated by your marvellous commentary. Drone work and great videography brought to life by wonderful editing. Could you tell I liked it. 1. The great American deserts please 2. Australia’s Great Ocean Road 3. Rocket launching sites in Florida 4. Wyoming and Custer’s Last Stand Just a few slightly more obscure travelogues to weave a story around. Keep it up 👍🏻👍🏻
What a great adventure you created, the traffic looked crazy in parts, but like most places the world the people and the scenery make it all worth while. Almost 100k subscribers, just 900k less than it should be.
Oooh it was such a heartwarming video! Lovely adventure is best shared with friends no matter of the challenges and obstacles...after all the good memories together count in future :)
Great to see that you can do a 6 day self guided trip in India for less than a 3 day guided off road break in Europe. Time to re watch and start taking notes. Not been to Manali for 25 years! Would be nice to go back and see it without the rain clouds
Manali is huge now, there are 4-5 nearby towns all merged into Manali now. You'd get a headache picking a place to stay there must be thousands of hotels in Manali now

Another great video! Always a joy to watch and lure! Just a question. Wasn’t a better option to take to the trip the leatt 7,5 airflow garment instead of the multitour? It looked so hot!
Well I did not make it to Cabo de la Vela due to the climate-I did however do the entire northern coast of Colombia. You know that you're welcome to come do the Andes any old time!

Another great video! Always a joy to watch and lure! Just a question. Wasn’t a better option to take to the trip the leatt 7,5 airflow garment instead of the multitour? It looked so hot!
Yes. That was a mistake on our part as the weather was vastly different to what was predicted 😂
Well I did not make it to Cabo de la Vela due to the climate-I did however do the entire northern coast of Colombia. You know that you're welcome to come do the Andes any old time!
Sounds like a video in the making!
