I remember how I discovered this book. I was looking through audiobooks narrated by Michael Kramer to see if anything caught my eye. The cover for this book, as you stated, immediately gave me vibes of covers by Darrell K. Sweet, who has my favorite style of covers. One of the things I'm most upset about is my inability to get a fresh, new copy of the first edition of ALL Wheel of Time novels. I digress, I look at the book and read the plot before making the purchase, under the impression it's been traditionally published by like Tor Fantasy or DAW or something like that. It comes in and the quality of the book pages only further cements my idea. But then I learn it's self published. And my jaw hits the floor.
As somebody who's working on his own epic fantasy series, this inspired me to look into self publishing. I was initially gonna go through the hassle of trying to find an agent to represent me and try to get it picked up by Tor, Bantam, DAW, or Orbit. But seeing just how high quality everything about this book was(though im reserving judgement on the story until i actually read it lol) inspired me immensely.
