Interview with Shami Stovall (Audio Only)
I love the time period for the Arcane Casebook series, as I love the Art Deco style of beauty. So very interesting to incorporate World War 2 into the stories - encourages me to keep reading the series! Thanks for the interview. Admire your writing process - I struggle to stick with mine!
Me too!
Very informative. I enjoyed hearing about the "process". 1:09
Thanks for watching! I learned a lot from Dan.
I am from Poland and here, in the land of fantasy, nobody heard about Quaintrell. i think in couple years it would be instant best seler series, but it just should have some social media boost for popularity.
Very interesting worldbuilding method to shape it around the themes you want to address in the story. Neat! I also like the idea of getting all the admin tasks out of the way early on. I'm easily distracted and am always looking for ways to maintain better focus.
Thank you very much!
I recall going to BAM and seeing his book. I didn't have the funds for it at the time, but when I went back again, it was gone. :( It's a Bummer for me, but happy for James.
Great interview! Love hearing more from one of my favorite indie authors. Happy for all his success, and here's to hoping we see Echoes on the screen before long!
I hope so too!
I remember how I discovered this book. I was looking through audiobooks narrated by Michael Kramer to see if anything caught my eye. The cover for this book, as you stated, immediately gave me vibes of covers by Darrell K. Sweet, who has my favorite style of covers. One of the things I'm most upset about is my inability to get a fresh, new copy of the first edition of ALL Wheel of Time novels. I digress, I look at the book and read the plot before making the purchase, under the impression it's been traditionally published by like Tor Fantasy or DAW or something like that. It comes in and the quality of the book pages only further cements my idea. But then I learn it's self published. And my jaw hits the floor. As somebody who's working on his own epic fantasy series, this inspired me to look into self publishing. I was initially gonna go through the hassle of trying to find an agent to represent me and try to get it picked up by Tor, Bantam, DAW, or Orbit. But seeing just how high quality everything about this book was(though im reserving judgement on the story until i actually read it lol) inspired me immensely.
I am a huge fantasy eater of books! I’ve read all the greats. Dresden files is hands down one of my favorite fantasy series of all times and hopefully the storyline never truly dies.
🙃 *Promosm*
The man. The myth. The legend.
I just ordered it to give it a try. I see James Butcher has a new book. Funny, when I went to his website it never mentioned the new release.
Thanks for having me on. It was a great getting to talk with you about books and writing.
Could you link Dans writing classes here?
Done
@@TROI.Online thank you
always great to find new chris fox content! Thanks for this great interview.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Great Interview as usual Karson! Going to have to read James J's books!
James SWOL Butcher. Bro's is getting jacked and writing bombs. Nice
Great interview. Pretty impressed with James. His first book published was good.
My beard has no gray in it here!
I'm wondering why I got all the boxes. I was so excited. I'm 82 and having 2nd thoughts about collecting stuff. Any suggestions?
It's nice to see Jim asked a few questions he doesn't get all the time.
This is fantastic! We're doing some very similar stuff. :) I'll be watching this series and cheering you on!
That’s super cool, excited to see the progress! Go Karson!🎉
I’m real excited to follow you and see your progress in your goal of becoming a best selling author ! 😊
great interview! I just subscribed :)
I’m glad you enjoyed it and thanks for subscribing.
Dude I read the first 6 dresden books in a week. I literally went to sleep every other night reading them.
They are great books.
Great interview of my writing mentor, David Hankins! His writing is so much fun!
Thanks for listening he was fun to talk to and get to know.
I loved Codex Alera, recently friend finished it after I recommended it. Underrated series.
It really is a great series and sorely under rated.
25 books!? I thought it was 22 given the big epic trilogy ending. Sounds good... I just look forward to the book 2 of Cinder Spires.
Me too, I'm glad he said it's in the works.
Despite going through a lot I fee Jim is grown so much. Self awareness and comfortable in his skin and a bit more humble. Makes his writing much better
I hadn't ever talked to Jim before but he was so friendly and kind. After the interview was over we talked for another 20 minutes. Such a great guy.
Any idea about a release timeline for upcoming works? How quickly will he be moving on from The Olympian Affair to the next in the Dresden series?
Unfortunately, I don't know any dates.
Great interview! Enjoyed it and hoping to get a hold of Mr. Correia sometime this year if I can manage. EDIT: also that's a lot of minis.
Thanks for watching. He does have quite a collection.
This was a really good interview. Thanks
Mr. Correia is inspirational. MHI is great, but my favorite is Saga of the Forgotten Warrior. That one, "Servants of War" was something special. I listened to the audio book version and the reader really nailed the accents. I can't wait for more.
great!!
Wonderful interview!!
Very good interview.
I rate Jim’s books as A-10
This was an awesome experience !! much respect Troi
Great interview!
That's a great idea about when times are tough, writing ten or twenty minutes at a time.
Jim’s glow up dang
Great interview!
Thanks for watching!
Dresden is the best character of all my favorite characters over the decades. I'd love to see the series continue on as long as the series is in Jim's mind.
I love The Dresden Files, I have them all on audiobook(James IS Dresden lol), but The Codex Alera is what got me back into reading. It brought me to Dresden, but The Codex is my favorite. I have all 6 books in paper and hardback and audio(Kates voices is so relaxing). I read the series at least once a year. If I could ask for anything from Butcher, it would be for a Brief Cases/Side Jobs short stories type side series.
Codex Alera is amazing. It’s right there with Dresden for me. I just love that series.
I love Brian Lee Durfee's books, his TV show (yeah I know it's a YT show but it appears on my TV screen). Thanks for this interview. Looking forward to more.
It is the greatest TV show in the history of the universe.
Katie also talks about sounding crazy and oh my goodness I just relate to her so much😂
Lol aaahhh 😅😅🥰🥰🥰🥰😅😅💖💖💖💖💖
The day I found Katie I told her how inspiring she was and now 4 months of knowing her that statement still stands so firmly. Everyday she inspires me to be a better artist. In the interview Karson asked Katie who inspires her, and from someone who has never had someone who inspires me I now can so easily say that Katie is it for me. I wish so dearly to be able to meet Katie someday and Katie if you see this I love you❤️thank you for being you
Ahhh Jewel omg you left the sweetest cutest comment ❤❤!!!! Aaawwww!!! Keep wishing that we will meet so that it can come true ❤ what an honor it is for you to say I inspire you!!
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Wait divorce? Jim and Kitty are divorced?
😲😲😲😲
I am so sorry to hear that, 😟😟😟
Yeah, he’s had a rough few years
I love the way the interview turned out.
